As far as new game vids, could you please do tutorials on Robinson Crusoe? Thats another one on my shelf that hasn't been touched, as it seems difficult for me to learn from the rulebook alone. Would greatly appreciate your help! :-)

I know this is kind of late and weird that I'm posting this in a 2020 video but I'm truly hoping you will return someday. Your Root, On Mars and Mage Knight videos truly helped me to power through them, especially the latter two titles. Your Oath video as well is very helpful and I'm trying to get some of the titles you've covered given they are pretty good ones. Jumping over here from my comment on the combat video! :) Now I'm confused again, haha. As I posted on the combat video moments ago, the rulebook states "If you assign damage to a unit it gets wounded irrespective of its armor. The armor value tell you how much to reduce the damage total by after assigning the unit a wound." However, now, in this video, the first example indicates the golem takes no wound because of it's resistance. That seems to contradict the statement in the rulebook. I am new to this, so I'm sure you're right and I am wrong, but could you explain why?

    • @ModernTablegamer
      @ModernTablegamer  Před 4 lety +1

      HI Rob, no worries at all and I hope this explanation isn't too long winded. Think of the resistance on the unit as armor that can first soak up damage equal to its armor value for free and then you have the option to assign any remaining damage to this same unit up to the unit's armor value again for one wound. If you choose not to assign additional damage to this same unit, you can then assign any remaining damage to either another unit or your hero and if this was the case the unit with resistance would not take a wound (similar to the example in the video).

    • @roby8124
      @roby8124 Před 4 lety

      Modern Cardboard thanks for the reply! So we should think of resistance as something separate from “armor” entirely, kind of as a “pre-soak-up” affect, that reduces incoming damage, before you really start applying damage at all. Does that sound right?

    • @jeremyz0pt
      @jeremyz0pt Před rokem

      @@roby8124 Hello, I have to jump here, this is wrong. Either you block a single attack with a cumulate block value equal or greater to it.
      Or then you assign the damages, and at this state every unit gets its wound token. Block phase is over, too bad.
      Block Phase
      6 - The Block is successful if the total value equals or exceeds the attack value of the chosen enemy.
      7 - A successfully blocked enemy token is set aside. Its attack was stopped and it will do no damage.
      9 - Any enemies you wish to block are resolved individually; you cannot block multiple enemies at once.
      Assign Damage Phase
      1 - Any enemies that are still alive and unblocked deal damage from their attacks during this phase.
      4.a - Whenever a Unit is assigned damage, put a Wound card on that unit.
      A Unit becomes Wounded regardless of how much damage was actually assigned.
      Then, reduce the damage total by the Unit’s Armor value.
      Assigning just one point of damage can Wound a Unit with a high Armor value.
      Armor value simply determines how much damage remains after the Unit is Wounded, if any.
      So if you don't block the werewolf 7 attack, you wound the foresters for 4 damages, and then must wound the guardian golems for the remaining 3 points.

  • @sdelgiorno
    @sdelgiorno Před 3 lety +1

    Thanks for the videos. They're great. A question: at 8:15, is it possible first to assign 3 damage to the Golens (but without wounding them) and after assign the 4 remaining damage to the Foresters?
    Tks!

    • @ModernTablegamer
      @ModernTablegamer  Před 3 lety

      HI Sergio, If a unit with resistance does not absorb all of the damage, you would have to wound the unit. By wounding the Foresters first, there is only 3 damage left and you can assign it to the Golems without having to wound them since they have physical resistance. I hope this one makes sense and thanks for the comment!

    • @sdelgiorno
      @sdelgiorno Před 3 lety +1

      @@ModernTablegamer thanks, you are doing a great job! But my doubt is about this: imagine that I have only the Golems and must assign 7 damage. Can I assign only 3 to the Golems (without wounding them ) and then assign the other 4 wounds to my hero? Or must I assign 3 to the Golems (without wounding them) and then assign 3 more (but this time wounding them) AND only after that assign 1 to my hero?

      @@ModernTablegamer Not really, but it helps. Good unit management is what counts, knowing when to assign damage to a unit and let a unit take a wound for you (usually after it has taken its action and during a city assault AND when you have a HEAL ready to follow up). BUT having good units with physical resistance is GREAT for that. Golems can get you a LONG way while exploring and wiping out Rampaging Orcs.
