I threw a wad of keys, that were clearly too big to fit, onto the dash and into the defrost vent of the work truck. 60 miles from the office. Wow, was I astonished and the boss happy! Life goes on, thankfully 😂 👍👍

Thanks for sharing your thoughts, ideas and videos. Nice to see you and Tim working in the shop together, always love when I accidentally make the perfect shot accidentally but couldn’t have done it for any amount of money. Only make it because it’s going to be a pain to recover from. Great to see the bailing team in action. Wishing you and your family the best.
Happy Father’s Day, I’m thankful that there are dad’s out there raising great kids like Tim and William.

My father carried a pocket knife all the time. Like the $2 Kmart Barlow, because it had two blades. Always needed to scrape-shine points, or one blade was often broken filling in for a screwdriver out in the hay field when equipment quit working while rain threatened the hay. I had a boy scout type folding knife back then but quit those once I found the locking blade knives. Now I only carry stout/hard abuse locking blades. Because they get used as pry bars or screw drivers when things break.

Simple jobs always cause problems. If you need to work on the knob again it would be a good idea to cover the hole to prevent it from going in it. I used to carry pocket knife but always keep losing it.I had a habit of leaving it on the planters. Or I had a hole in my pocket. I now carry a multi-tool.Lot more useful then just a knife

Jokingly you told Tim that you’ll should just do mechanical repairs on the older Deeres. If push comes to shove you could probably have a really profitable business. If you haven’t checked out Deeres prices on the 404 engine blocks and the heads, and cranks and fuel pumps and etc. don’t think that you going to get a cheap major overhaul. It’s just not in the cards it’s not happening. If I’m not mistaken their labor rate is in the neighborhood of $150 per hour. To get a 4430 overhauled roughly $25,000. That’s with a JD crank. The labor rate of $150 at 8 per day is $1,200 per day per mechanic. I’m not saying you don’t make money farming, but your not controlled by the weather in a shop environment. I don’t know about New Jersey but in the Midwest there are lots of 42,43,44,45 series of Deeres still in service. I have a 4020 that I use all summer long in my small hay business. Not even considering replacing it. There lots of new equipment also which most people won’t even attempt to work on. The only reason I’m not considering this is I’m 75 years old. With a labor rate of $150 per hour these people are making money hand over fist.

Check out Edison Motors utube channel. They sell ev conversion kits for old trucks. New cat generator, 250 kw battery, electric regen axels. Saves 50% on fuel. Doubles as an emergency generator. Started doing diesel bush conversions to solar, batteries and efficient generator. They will train you to do the conversion. 4 weeks, bc canada. If you haul down hill it makes more power than to haul empty backhaul. Diesel locomotive tech that works using off self easy to repair parts with redundancy. Right up your alley.
