Family Simm - Niederhorn to Vorsass

The Niederhorn, in Beatenberg near Interlaken, is part of the Emmental Alps. From its summit, Lake Thun and the entire Bernese Alps can be seen. Access is via an unusual 3 car gondola system.
There are many options for activities on the Niederhorn during both summer and winter seasons. There are several hiking routes of various levels of difficulty including the new ridge walk as well as the availability of Trot Bikes, similar to scooters, which you can ride down one of two trails.
For our visit we did the short 1 hour walk to Vorsass, the middle station. The path is mainly loose stone and rock but is quite easy going. In good weather you get some fantastic views over Thunersee.
We stopped at Bärgrestaurant Vorsass, one of the two restaurants on the mountain, for a bite to eat before we jumped back on the cable car for a ride down to Beatenbucht for the boat to Thun.
