In my opinion, this is the most perfect Vai song.
Not that I do not acknowledge Vai's burlesque
vein, as I consider Flex-able and Flex-able Leftovers
my favourite Vai albums, as he was as free as Zappa
to compose whatever he thought fit. But Windows to
the Soul is just the perfection of his other side, the
mystical side. Vai is burlesque and mystical.
I really wish there were more than two live videos of this song in existence. There’s got to be better quality somewhere....

Gosh I never actually tapped my foot to this song till you mentioned the time signature 😂. I always got lost in my spine and in the deepest recesses of my timeless conscience (as Steve probably intended lol). Now I realize how terribly difficult this is to play. Thanks for the insight!
Apparently he doesn't play this live much anymore cause its too hard for him to replicate. The timing and shredding is a lot. I think he said it in an interview.

You mean the green tape under the neck pickup? Its to prevent the first string to Get stucked under the pickup when using the bridge whammy bar (usually divebombs)
