Which do you prefer? Infinites or hybrids? Let us know! 👇
Hybrids
I prefer Hybrids
Hybrids. Waiting on the hoodies and tee's??
Gotta say the hybrids!!
@@jonnewton5929 pickup the merch early this week!!
Have to agree with Dan on this one those spread beams are a better all round option.
I could see more of a use for those pencil beams on trucks as you need to see spot further ahead.
Great video as always guys.
Cheers Pat
Thanks paddy!
@@AussieArvos Just wondering if you could do a follow up to this video on the Infinites with the flood covers that Supernova sell as an option? I prefer a wider beam so based on this video, would go the hybrids, but according to the Supernova website, they are currently out of stock. The Infinites with flood cover may be a great option.
Dan is on the money.
It's really easy to get carried away with modding 4wds but before you know it your rig will look like a molested version of optimus prime.
Less is more and only stick to what you actually need..
I came across the ad for these a day ago. Then you guys have just done the review for them. If I hadn't bought a set of something else a few weeks ago. I definitely would have had a go at these.
I was looking at the infinite
Just ordered a set of Hybrids, thanks for the review and code, great work Aussie Arvos, cheers
Great video again guys 👍🏼 Personally, having played with many light setup of the years and found the best that a good spread-beam (like the Hybrids) are the way to go. Even at 900m you are never going to overdrive your lights and are more likely to encounter issues coming at you from the sides. But in the end it comes down to personal choice, the type of driving being undertaken and the budget. Keep up the great reviews.
Thanks Ian! Means alot!
Great video guys, very interesting. For me the 8.5 Hybrids would be the pick. Good to see an aussie company developing these.
Good review, thanks fellas, love the content....
I personally only use a lightbar. Straight roads are hard to find in NZ haha
Dessert road
@@michaelhermans4753 I live in the South
yeah dan is on the money . the 8.5 hybrid for me. . easy on the eyes and not a tireing
. awsome episode guys . keep up the great work aussie arvos
I've been waiting to get a set, thanks for the code!
We need to see all of dans cars in one video and all the other guys if they have other cars ! Please
Love seeing an Aussie company making an great product. Good work!
That side by side comparison was genius, well done! I was dead set on the Infinites, until seeing that side by side comparison. In my area, the Hybrid will do much better. On the road I might have a 1km straight stretch here and there, in the woods on a logging road, a 40m straight stretch would be really long straight stretch. I can think of a couple instances where the Infinites would make for a whoa cool effect, but would literally be sacrificing utility all the rest of the time, for those two instances. Hybrid it is, for me.
Impressive looking lights and great review. For me it's the Hybrid. You need to see what's coming around the next bend and straight out to the side of the road. That's where Skippy's hanging out.
I got Aldi ones a while back, absolutely amazing. they are a spot beam but they come with a speeding lens. and for 180 for both you cant go wrong.
Goes for bread and milk, leaves with a set of spotties...
Gotta Love Aldi!
G'day guys, I actually bought the Supernova lights that are in between the Hybrids and the Infinites which are the Rogue's. I was initially looking at the Hybrids, but the person in the showroom recommended the Rogues over the Hybrids. Having watched your video, I reckon that the Hybrids probably have more initial spread to their light, but I reckon my Rogues are slightly brighter over a longer distance. After looking at your Infinite 8.5's, I'm glad that I got the Rogues. I didn't particularly like the pencil beam coming from the Infinites. I've used my Rogue's a fair bit and I'm pretty blown away with the light that they throw out- awesome spread and really long distance too. I don't see a need to upgrade my lights any time soon.
Are they still in business? I can't get any response to emails or calls to Supernova.
How did you contact them?
Something else to look at is the positioning of the lights on each bar - the lights on the Landcruiser are further forward than on the Patrol, so there would be more side light available. On the Patrol, some of the light is stopped by the uprights on the bar. If the lights were positioned further forward, they would project more light to each side, but not be as protected from impact.
i was on instagram and saw ur story u put up a new video and i’ve never switched apps so fast i love ur vids xoxo
Thanks mate! means alot! :)
I used to prefer the spot option doing a lot of open road, now living and driving in the Snowy Mountains and driving through the national park all the time as well as driving on outback open roads I have opted for a pair of both spread and spot as there is a decent mix of open and winding roads I have to contend with
So I actually appreciate both sets of lights, I removed my light bar as the lights just make it useless.
Have I got light over kill? Probably, but better that than hitting a wombat, roo, deer or brumby, scrub bull etc...
It really is a good honest review which is a really hard thing to come across.
great video, excellent review. just one little thing would've made it better, and that would be to provide camera settings and an approximate time of the video being shot so we can make comparisons with our current spotlights.
Eh
Used to put a pencil beam on the driver side then a spread beam on the passenger side used to work well
Hybrids for me i reckon, best of both.. Nice reviews boys..
Love the vid boys can’t wait for the next one
Great video boys, I’ve been running the supernova 8.5 rogue v2s for almost 2 years now, they’re a great quality built light with plenty of output and well worth the price IMO.
5:00 "This is where they really shine." No pun intended? 🤣😂👍
Liked the hybrids but far too expensive for my Liking. Nice vid 👍
They are insane that’s got me getting a set cheers boys!! Mint video 🤟🏻
Love this episode. Keep them coming.
Thanks Gideon!
Hybrid system for me good for wide spread in forest conditions. Great content as usual. Looking forward to the arrival of my shirt I'm going to use it as a destination list and cross off as many as I can.
Thanks Brendon! Merch being sent really soon, getting them this week!
Pat hiya. Great channel btw. What main 80 series headlights did you replace if any? You looked at LED's option, whatever is compliant? Thanks,
Both are great, but the hybrids seem less harsh(may just be the camera). What this did show is how bad are both vehicles standard (old) headlights. Might be time to upgrade.
Putting 4 of these on my prerunner.
How much RF noise do they generate? Do they kill AM or FM radio reception when you turn them on?
The spread of the lights seem to be hindered by the post on the bull bar?
As much as you want bright lights. Sorry to say mate. FyrLyt are the best lights in Australia hands down & halogen. At the end of the day your choice. But I had them on my Ute for years and love them to bits & and only cost me the price of a single of everything else.
100% mate ,, its all about colour tempreture , i was running cool white leds for ages than once i tried the warm white fyrlyts i never looked back
Old school option that's not offered anymore.
Combination, spread and spot.
True. They should swap one light each.
Few people do, Bushranger/ stedi etc do spot/spread covers, and Stedi also have full spread lightbars that you can match with 100% spot lights
Love the content boys keep it up.
Looking for some advice. Need a new pair of spotties and tossing between these. I'm not really understanding 1. the benefit of being able to see 500m+ and 2. Even on Outback roads, spread is important as you have hazards coming from the sides.
I live in Central Australia so largely driving Outback roads/tracks and would love your advice. Cheers
how do your supernovas handle bad corro roads? my mate fitted them and on a trip up to NWQLD last month he couldn't keep them lined up. Its like the adjusting pivot points are too close and the BT50 bulbar shakes enough to make them turn down. Brilliant lights though but on sh#t roads he struggled to keep them in range..
Love your videos
Awesome video boys. I am looking at a set of these and I was set on the infinite's but after seeing the hybrid's on Dan's rig I want the hybrid's.
Who else had a super nova ad?
Nice review boys. Like Dan I will be looking at the hybrid as most of my driving is not on long straight roads so the benefit to me is more side vision. Great review on both though👍 will defiantly use the discount code. cheers👍
i prefer the Supernova Infinite ... big thumbs up
Dan's the man, right! Spread is more important on most roads. I have a lightbar now but would buy the hybrids next time. Cheers :)
Be interested to know how they go when its raining at night?
Capturing lights on camera is different because SRD video only has 255 ( but usually less) points of brightness. You could get a more accurate representation with HDR content.
I’m running 6 infinites on the roof and two xtm ones down low
Hybrid for me. Similar to my kings domin8r Xtreme. I'll be making a video on those.
tell ya what lads I cant wait for my shirt to arrive so i can wear it down at the local. what's the chances of making some stickers up of the Australia 4x4 locations. would love to rep that on my tool box at work
Thanks mate! picking them up this week!
I personally like the hybrid version. 1 lux at 900 metres and pretty good spread. Oh, and how much longer on the hoodies and tee's?
Went from mad 4x4 vids to full blown adds
That lightbar you have mounted on top of your bull bar is illegal in Vic. I got defected for it a few months ago driving through Alexandra. Dogs.
I run a heap of stedi lights from there too spotlights to led bars but these aren’t bad thinking of getting the hybrids for my dads car as they draw less
nice lights the hybrids seems a better option to me ,, but i wouldnt run them as Cool white gives me massive eye strain after a couple of hours at night and for me washes out any contrast in colour
@shed stuff What's the best colour temp?
@@wozandnic 5000K is the best as it mimics daylight, not many manufactures have this, they user 5700K, probably because the 5700K LED chips are cheaper, its well known 5700K causes eye strain, Stedi Type X use 5000K but all their others use 5700K, CRI value it what you want to look for to show a quality light, higher number the better, Supernova have CRI of 87 which is excellent, Stedi don't quote these values which makes me Suspiscious, they just say excellent Colour Rendering Index (CRI) without quoting the number, the number is the most important as it quotes the quality of the LED, Lightforce Genesis use 5000K but have a poor CRI of 70 at least they are upfront and quote this, Stedi does not
Are they manufactured in China?
You can bet they are.
I can't find anywhere on their site which says about quality control, testing in Australia, r&d, made in Australia etc. Just another "Australian Owned" company importing products from overseas maybe?
My opinion these a roof mount in 4-8 in a light bar i don't think these designed to be bullbar mounted spotties looking at the spread
note if you haven't got the same lumens in your driving lights you might get caught with the case of night blindness once you dim/switch your spots
I have a dual row 22in STEDI bar in the bull bar and two round 3in LED floods on the roof rack on and angle. The spread goes about 15m each side of the car from the front diff and a good few 100m of spot and spread mixed.
I’m liking the hybrid light perfect all round for sides of road and good beams down the road 👌🏻
They look light stedi. Same boxing and everything
hybrid. i run kings 7" spotties on my bull bar and 5x 7" bars on my roof rack, plus the factory hids. it is like driving in the day. the spotties do the spot beam and the bars do the flood, plus i like how it looks with the roof lights. also have side and rear for night time offroading and camping. 360 lighting is one of the best mods imo.
Why not run 1 of each?
The lights themselves look very similar, so it wouldn't look odd just looking at the vehicles.
It kind of would be the best of both worlds.
a pencil beam for the distance and a hybrid for well the flood .
just a idea .
Bloody great comment mate👍👏
Super nova should supply accordingly as 1 x Infinite for drivers side and 1 x Hybrid for passenger side.
From INDIA
I have 8.5 infinite supernova installed n my Hyundai Tucson and its like collapsed sun ...sso bright .so soo bright and i would recommend....for spread add the flood filter cover ..problem solved
Buttermans Track 🥰
My preference would be the hybrid for sure
I pre ordered a jumper, when are they going to be posted?
Being posted at the moment!!
I think I’d go with the hybrid
Just saw this, nice video. I think I’m a bit too late to use the discount code 😢. It doesn’t work now.
Hybrids for sure.
Ran PIAA rally dual high and low beam halogens..awesome lights but amp draw and heat from halogen globes was a shit go...May we never go back to halogen tech.
Teralume all the way 👌 fuck the reflection off street signs!!
@E Bandit I had kings laser lights and they where shit made all street signs reflect in my eyes, absolutely hated them!! Got the Teralume and there mint don’t do it at all 👌
I really like your video but when I went to your store you have no inventory other than a sticker for sale. What's going on? How can these have a lifetime warranty when there aren't any to buy?
You’re asking the wrong people??
Hey guys the discount code isn’t working??
I have a 50 inch Cree light bar on my roof and for $150 theirs not much out there that will beat it.
The hybrids have a good spread but I feel like the bullbar on the QG might be stealing some of the side light from the spread of the lights, but yeah can see a bit of a difference between them
5:03 just a kangaroo just waiting to take out the front of your car
He's just waiting for a fast moving light to intercept
Would be the Hybrid for this black duck 😁 i want to see what is on the side of the road or next to me in the bush 😜😉 but each to there own hay 😎🍺
Is this sponsored or did you buy them?
Can the lights not be too powerful/bright ?
Roof mounted, in the rain, yes
A pair of each would be ideal I reckon.
Great to see you guys getting help from big companies 👍
haha, I just got the ad for them when I clicked on your video
"I wanted spread" so i mounted my spotties with 4" of alloy hard against the outer edge of each light. Pencil beam is pointless. I didn't get to the part with pricing, but the kings 7" is better than both these, if they aren't less than $130 for the pair, I'd go with kings if you want budget lights. Each to their own though
Can’t legally have them protruding from the bar and I didn’t have many mounting options.
that alloy bar ain’t staying long but thanks for your concern, as for light choice each to their own as you said but the camera honestly doesn’t do these justice.
@@dantheman7647 get infront of the camera more often.
great your guys are starting to get some affiliates :)
Not too many straight roads in the bush so the hybrids for the W
Hybrid 8.5 for me
kaluoy sa katagbo. hayag kaayo.
right in front of the radiator isnt the best place to bolt them, always try and keep good air flow to the cars cooling system, not much point having bright lights if engines cooked.
Made in china?
Hybrid 8.5👌🏻
i’ve been running there quad v2 driving lights on my hilux for a year and a half now hands down wouldn’t buy any other brand of driving lights over them 👌
Yeah it's quality gear 👍 we were impressed
Supanova also do an N70 headlight conversion kit for a good price!!!
Great video fellas love ya work 🤙
And they completely illegal for road use in every state of Australia & will void your insurance & leave you liable for a defect notice. You can't legally convert halogen headlights to L.E.D's. Read the A.D.R's on headlights & lighting standards.
Rather any of that than a candle headlight 👍
@@locobogan9588 I run the A.D.R approved 200% eurospec H4 halogen globes with L.E.D spotties, all completely street legal and I can see more than well enough at night. But I suppose if your scared of the dark what can you do?
Hybrid for sure. Great review
0:45 looks like light savers 😂😂😂
Saw you last night legend, waddle round a bout
Do you realise Dan is wasting all the 180 degree feature of the hybrid lights having it snugged away in the bullbar?? Thats the whole point of having side facing leds in the scalloped out section.
That bar ain’t staying forever 😉
Dan your bull bar is blocking the light from spreading to the side mate
Thanks mate, didn’t have many mounting options and the bar ain’t staying forever 👍
@@dantheman7647 cool bro 😎 loving the build following strong
