Excellent video !!!
Thank you much!
Great Info Eddie
Thank you my friend!
Plus I wish all these companies would use greasable bearing like they use too
After I traded my fist SRT in on the one I have now I put grease zerks in the spindles and the front end.
You don't have to remove the seals on the bearings the grease gun will push grease around the rubber seals.
@@papawsplace hey maybe I should do this! I sure appreciate the info man. And my mower has been at dealer for recently a tensioner bearing replacement and they never noticed hydro leak but that is to you I got it figured out.
Thanks mister. Really appreciate your advice
You are welcome and thanks for commenting!
Love your OP quote. The copy editor in me had a stroke, but the message still came through, loud and clear!
LOL
Thanks for the heads-up.
Your Welcome. Thank you for the comment.
Great review!!! Great advice. I hate the safety kill switches on lawn mowers too!!
Thank you!
Guess what Eddie, i just went out tonight and checked my srt-xd and one was good but right side was finger loose i couldnt believe it thanks so much for saying this, mine had been seeping on right pump. Seems they have a QC issue at Spartan, Im in Wv, where you at?
QC has gone to crap on everything since covid hit in 2020. I've seen it in lots of things.
Morning bud , working at home today, I enjoy a good “rant” ever once in a while… but that was a good video and something I’am gonna check on my zero-turn… thanks Eddie !
Sometimes I just can't help myself Mr. Bill. LOL You should see some of the comments that I remove. LOL
My Hustler parked brake is in the steering handled, has no rop.but not Commercial.
👍
I 100% agree with you about the roll-over bar. I also own a Spartan and anytime I go under a tree with low thick limbs, you have to be VERY careful an make sure the limb does not clip the rollover bar in the downed position. I've never had it do what it do to you, but I've always thought it's very possible - and now you've confirmed it is.
The only thing I don't agree with you on in the video is the control panel comments. I've got 160hrs on mine and it's never given me any issues. It takes no more time to put your code in real quick and press start vs. turning a key. As far as the safety features, it's no different than any other mower. It's got all the same safety features on it that every other mower has (like the seat sensor, neutral sensor, parking brake, and the PTO sensor), the only difference is unlike other mowers, it's nice that it let's you know if the sensors are all functioning/passed to let you start the mower. On a mower without these sensor monitors, if you have a sensor plug come loose, a short, or just a bad sensor, you will have no idea why your mower won't turn over without some lengthy trouble shooting and/or guess work. I've had a control lever sensor come unplugged on my Spartan and it refused to light green. This let me know that the specific issue was the control lever neutral sensor. It took all but 1 min to look under the seat and I found it was because it came unplugged.
Plus not having to keep up with even more keys and it monitors the engine/mow hrs and your oil changes and the volt meter for the battery is all a huge plus. I personally much prefer the control panel vs. key start for all these reasons.
I guess the reason I don't like the control panel is it doesn't let me bypass the safety features. It's not really the control panel that I don't like. On all my other lawn mowers I could bypass the safety features. The one I hate the most is, if the arms are not all the way in neutral position before you put the park brake on it goes dead. That gets me every time. LOL
@@papawsplace Yep. The computer runs a diagnostic check before it lets the engine start. Thats why it takes a few seconds to start. Its looking to see if the safety shhhtuff is hooked up or not.
👍
D v mll 😢
Good info. 👍

I'm looking at the Spartan mowers , They are expensive but that deck is heavy duty
As with everything, all of them cost more than they should. I do like this mower though.
Got my spartan in clarksville tn and they have a great warranty on them now
Working on two mowing seasons approximately 350 hours no issues so far.
I got one just like yours. 37 horse srt-xd. My starter had to be replaced and just had a tensioner pulley bearing just got out and smoed my belt at 108 hours. Im little on fence bout how I feel about them. I do love mower overall bit dont want anymore shop time. I guess i was spoiled I had dixie chopper for 16 years and did literlaly nothing to it except maintenance
I've been lucky I guess I'm on my 2nd SRT and had no issues so far.
I traded my first one back in at 2 years just to get the key start so I could by-pass all the safety switches.
I sold my old Bad-Boy and
I have a Bad-Boy Rogue on the way with the 28.5 Kawasaki motor it.
The computer on Spartan mowers is why I bought a Toro. No one needs that crap on a lawn mower. Just something to give trouble and I'm sure it wouldn't be a cheap part to replace when it goes bad.
I agree 100% Mr. Eric, There is no need in all that on a lawn mower.
I initially thought the same thing, but your Toro has every single safety feature that the Spartan does (PTO safety, control lever neutral safety, and occupied seat safety)
Literally the only difference, is the Spartan's control panel shows you the status of those sensors. It's not doing anything additional that your Toro is doing except that. I saw this as an added bonus, as if any sensor on any other mower goes out, you're going to have to do a lot of trouble shooting to find the issue - versus the Spartan's control panel will show you exactly which sensor may not be engaging properly so you can locate it and find out why.
For example, my control levers were would not light green to let me start the mower, despite being in neutral, and I quickly found the plug had come undone. I plugged it back up and was good to go. If that happened on any other mower, I would've had no idea why my mower wouldn't start and would've spent a lot of time trouble shooting the issue. The Toro has the same exact sensor on it. You just don't have a light monitoring it's status.
On all my other mowers it does not matter if they go out because I have bypassed them. That is the reason I don't like the control panel, I can't bypass all the safety crap. 🤣🤣
And it does give trouble. Often.
The higher tec it is the more trouble it causes, I'm old fashion, I don't like the fancy stuff. LOL
Hello Just subscribed, we just bought a Spartan O turn, Thanks for the info. Take care and stay safe 👍🏼🇺🇸
Welcome to the channel and thanks for the Sub. ..I have approx. 400 hours on this mower and no issues at this time. I really like it. Thanks again.
I agree about the ROPS. I have a customer who treats me like family. I've serviced his yard for 22 years. But he would fire me in a heartbeat if I cut his low tree limbs. I even have to duck around some of the limbs to keep from hitting my head and scratching my face up. It's a nice safety feature, but defeated by functionality.
Yes sir after having it off all last year this year I put them back on because I have a couple new yards with step banks to mow. So I feel safer now with it on I just have to weed eat more on other yards.
Sometimes the safety features on equipment make it more dangerous.
I'm so glad someone understands! God Bless my friend!
I had to remove the ROPs on mine. Almost killed me twice ! (tree limbs) Cedar branch....six stiches. Small maple limb was ready to smack me and I quickly moved my head out of the way but slammed it into the ROPs. Split my ear open at the top.
Just put the arms back in place press the parking brake and get off. It will stay running my RZ HD does
Thats the problem. LOL I forget to put the arms back in place before I push the brake. And it make me mad every time. 🤣🤣
I took out the seat sensor on my mower and taped the switch closed
👍
I hung a guide wire on light pole that darn near flipped me needless to say I lowered it.
Yes sir, they can kill you are they can save you. If a person is not mowing on hills and inclines, I would say just remove them altogether.
I tried to bypass the seat switch and it worked for awhile but then it started saying "seat switch malfunction" on the computer display so I had to wire it back up.
I tried everything I could and ended up hooking them all back up. Also now that I have a yard with a steep ditch back I put the roll bar back on also. LOL
Hot and cold hot and cold will make those things get lose from expansion you can fix that with lock tite
Maybe so but that is something the factory should have done. Not the buyer. JUST SAYING!
They keep making it harder and harder for the normal guy to bypass all the junk safety features.
Yes, they do, and like I said, I may need them, but I don't want them. LOL
The safety features are there for; guess what? Your safety!! One of the guys who mows the city park hit a stump and went over the bars. He was very great full the the mower stopped and didn’t run him over and cut him to pieces.
And I guess that was the lawnmower's fault that he hit the stump. 🙄
Nope it was his fault. The kill switch saved him from further injury.@@papawsplace
I agree the safety switches are there for safety but as an older person who grew up on equipment with no safety switches and such, I just don't like them on my mower. I look at it like this.
Where do you live Papaw? I thought I heard you say something about being in Mississippi one time
North Louisiana
you spelled college wrong
Well Dang, I never could spell are type very well. 😂🤠
i hav a badboy , wen i try 2 pick up a rock ,stick the seat switch kills the spark . then BANG wen i sit up strait . thats how my ferris muffler blew out.😡
That is why I hate the safety crap. LOL
That hose with the clamp is a very poor set up . Those hoses should have a compression nut built in the hose and they would never leak or com loose . Just one way that mower companies can make their mowers at at cheaper cost and increase their profit margin .
I agree but they all cut corners some-way -or-another. I wish I could put everything I like about different mowers and have one built just for me. But again. it would cost twice as much to build it.
I can hear nothing. What this dude talking about?!😅
He probably didn't know his self. 😁
