- Public Broadcast is a trip back in time to the heyday of analog synthesisers, featuring 88 patches for TAL-Pha that celebrate the nostalgic electronic sounds of the late 1970s and early 1980s.
For this soundset I found inspiration in vintage library music, VHS idents, and synth-heavy television scores, and followed this thread to the present day via artists such as Boards of Canada, Pye Corner Audio and HOME.
Inside you will find plenty of melted, detuned and dusty sounds that are ideal for revivalist genres such as hauntology, synthwave and lo-fi electronica.
Available from oblivionsoundl...
A sound set so good I'm over here about to buy the synth for it. Well done, once again.
Thanks! Anything by Patrick from TAL Software is quality, and TAL-Pha is no exception. If you do pull the trigger then I'm sure you will love it. Some really talented folk contributed factory presets too, including my buds The Unfinished, Saif Sameer and Emptyvessel.
@@oblivionsoundlab I'm another one that bought both TAL-Pha and TAL u no lx for the sounds. Just so authentic sounding. I know Emptyvessel, own all his stuff for TAL Sampler.
@@alan-veucasovic Thanks for the support! I hope you enjoy TAL-Pha as much as I do. It has some similarities to TAL-U-No-LX of course, but has a few new tricks up its sleeve.
well f***. this is like mainlining the sounds of my childhood via an analog simulation sound portal. I already have DIVA but this is exactly what I was trying to emulate. great job.
Ha! I like the analogy. Glad to hear that the sounds are hitting the spot.
WOW! Couldn't agree more with ericboone!
This sounds so real. Punchy, liiitle intonation movent. Top!!
Awesome work as always! Managed to avoid the temptation of picking up TAL-Pha at launch, but this makes it a lot more tricky to resist!
I accept no responsibility for fuelling your Gear Acquisition Syndrome! Joking aside, I am glad that you enjoyed the patch demos :)
Awesome job! Your sounds are always amazing.
Thanks, I'm glad you like!
@@oblivionsoundlab It was an instabuy!!
Absolutely on point. Purchased!
Thanks for the support! I hope that you enjoy the soundset.
BOUGHT! Looking forward to more TAL presets! THANK YOU! I only wish i could export these to my REAL Alpha Juno II
Thanks for the support! I am a big fan of TAL’s synth plugins, so I’m sure I’ll work on another TAL soundset before long.
I haven't tested myself, but the TAL-Pha documentation describes how to send the current plugin settings to Alpha hardware via sysex. See @RobertDorschel's comment.
That turquoise patch sounds spot on!
Thanks! There are a few nods to Boards of Canada in this set.
Great work, as always!
And thank YOU for the swag of demo tracks! Your idents fit perfectly with the theme of this set.
OSL stuff = instant buy ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐
You are too kind Sir. I had a blast digging into your factory presets as I got to know TAL-Pha. Patrick pulled together an all star team of sound designers for this one!
@@oblivionsoundlab So glad to hear that, you made a very outstanding sound palette for this synth, love these presets 🤗
I’m considering buying this synth and sound set, as I’ve used Dark Visions for one of my recent albums!!
Nice! Feel free to flick me a link to your album, I always enjoy hearing my patches being used.
The first synth I bought was the Roland Alpha Juno-1, brand new, in 1986.
I still have it.
I have also purchased TAL-PHA... and now, this Oblivion Sound Lab soundset.
Hint: Thanks to the sysex send and receive function, you can send these patches to the hardware synth (minus the special FX, Voicing, and Spread functions) and have 99% of the sound's DNA in the hardware! Just add FX afterwards. I may or may not do this with my favorite patches. 😅
Great tip! Another commenter was wondering about sending TAL-Pha patches to Alpha hardware.
@@oblivionsoundlab P.S. Thank you oh so much for the Hex Drum plugin. T Dolby in a tidy package. :)
Glad to hear that you are enjoying Hex Drum! I can’t recall if any of the factory presets were inspired by Thomas Dolby, but his music was definitely in the mix!
These sound great. Is there ANY processing on these preset demos? Or all straight from TAL-Pha?
Any effects you hear are from TAL-Pha. The only external processing is gentle limiting on a handful of the patches.
@@oblivionsoundlab Thank you! I own all your Diva presets and Hex Drum. I hope TAL-Pha goes on sale soon, because I love the demo for your Public Broadcast soundset.
@@Rothgarr I think that TAL Sofwtare hold a Black Friday sale, so keep your eyes peeled... And thank you for the support 🙌
10:33 - LEAD Tidal, can't remember for the life of me where it's from, can you please ease my pain here?😅
That patch is an emulation of the lead from Tides by HOME
@@oblivionsoundlab EXACTLY! Thank you so much!
It’s a great track! That lead caught my ear while I was working on this set and I had to pay tribute to it.
@@oblivionsoundlab That whole album is amazing. Great work on your part!
Nice soundset but the synth itself is overpriced, Cherry stuff is @$50USD, that's about the mark for synths. Do TAL do sales?
I don’t think TAL’s products are overpriced - Cherry is just absurdly cheap! I’m not sure how often Patrick runs sales, but I’m fairly sure he holds a Black Friday sale so keep an eye out for that.
