  • One of the recurring themes we’ve noticed throughout the stories shared on Anxious Faith has been that people who struggle with their mental health often come up against churches or other Christians who may hinder their journey more than help. But while many people have had that experience, it isn’t the only one.
This episode, we’re heading across the ditch to New Zealand to speak with Harrison, a youth pastor at a church in Auckland. Through his own experience with anxiety, Harrison has developed a heart for making his church and youth group a space where mental health is openly and honestly addressed.
Harrison and his church’s mission is simple: to bring God into the discussions around our mental health. In a world where the topic of mental health is going to be talked about at school, university, work and many other secular places, they want to make sure that the church is talking about it just as much.
By opening up these conversations instead of shying away from them, they’ve seen their community become a place where those who are struggling can learn that they are not alone, and that God is with them in the struggle.
