I saw Nickelback live around 2002, and they stopped right in the middle of their song to help a girl who was getting beat up in the mosh pit get out safely, definitely have respect for them.
I really loved Nickelback and I'd like their music and then I remember when they hate came up and if you ask somebody they couldn't explain it it was just a vicious taking down of great band. People are followers.
I don’t know anyone who actually hated them. It just became a huge thing around the time social media started taking off. The band does some hilarious stuff about the memes about them
I've seen them in concert & actually met them. Very cool down to earth fellas. I never understood nor felt at all like they did anything to deserve any kind of hate. People are such hypocrites too sometimes, I'm sure there's plenty of "rock stars" who've done despicable things & no one seems to care. Anyway, I say let the music speak for itself. Check out "this is how you remind me" & "leader of men."
The overplaying of one of their songs definitely doesn't explain the hate-trend against them. I live in Denmark and growing up, LOTS of songs were played constantly on MTV and in the radio during the height of their popularity. Darude - Sandstorm. Red Hot Chili Peppers - Californication. Eminem - The Real Slim Shady. Eminem - Without Me. Eminem - Stan. Bomfunk MC's - Freestyler. Beyoncé - Lose My Breath and I could go on and on and on. Of those songs, Lose My Breath was the only one I started to hate, cause my room-mate, in addition to the radio, was playing the song on repeat. It did NOT however make me hate Beyoncé or everything she'd made by extension. Just seems to me to be a social phenomenon, like people "hating" Pepsi, despite blind taste tests showing that most people prefer the taste of Pepsi over the taste of Coke. Coca Cola is simply socially considered the only "real" cola. In this case though, it's much much worse, because the product on the receiving end is... a group of people. Bandwagon mentalities are a powerful thing. PS: I never knew anyone that hated Nickelback and never even heard about this phenomenon until recently. We all loved How You Remind Me and Someday. I had the album. Strange thing...

Folks do forget about the fact that between 1998 and in 2000s that we didn't have other forums in ways of listening to music aside from tv and radio like we do now with all the technology, devices and apps that allow us ability to pick what we want and don't want to hear. So yes there were a lot of sounds, songs and artists that were literally being shoved down our throats. Matter of Fact if you work in a warehouse or somewhere you aren't allowed to use your phone or have the ability to where head phones while working 9 times out 10 you or someone you know is most likely having to listen a radio that someone else is playing tuned into a station that particularly don't care for... Can at times make you feel as if certain songs are still being shoved down our throats.
As a Nickelback fan, that was actually my first time seeing that video lol. But seriously, when I was younger I had a camp counsellor who was a Nickelback fan so she played a their songs sometimes and I loved it. A few years ago I re explored Nickelback going through their songs again. I don’t understand the hate. As exemplified by one of my favourite songs, Savin’ me, some of their songs actually are really deep and meaningful.
It’s really sad how few people can think for themselves. The worst Nickleback haters are the 1990’s alt rock fans that thought they were so anti everything. Now they go along with anything that comes along as long as social media, msm, and the government tells them to.
I love Nickleback and am someone that doesn’t follow the crowd...so when the haters started I was like...whatever I like and appreciate their music. I liked that they were’t the typical angry hate rock. I think it’s the metal and hard rock fans that didn’t like them. I also appreciate their more inspirational stuff too.
Honestly, Nickelback didnt deserve all the hate, they were/are a Mid radio rock band for the 2000s, there are tons of others just like them, I will admit, the Hate they do get is real, you couldnt admit you liked Nickel back in the day if you did you would get clowned hard. Was kind of funny to watch this random weird culture experiment unfold though.
You know nothing obviously of whom they were before they became Corporate Stooges. Their musicanship and creativity was off the charts, with most of their songs being 7-10+ minutes. They also said they hated sell out bands and would never turn their backs. And then they did. That is why they are a Joke in Canada to anyone who was older then 10-13 at the time.
Posehn was absolutely correct. 💯 Nickelback made me realize I was too hard on Creed back in the day. The internet had no influence, just my ears. To each their own. Some people like them, some people like Toby Keith.

The most awesome band of recent decades. They touch on a lot of difficult subjects, love, lust, suicide, racism, domestic violence, happiness, sadness and everything in between. Love, love, love Nickelback. Follow what you want and like regardless of what others think. I think the person that started the hate thing was jealous.
I never hated them, even when their song was played a lot. Sure songs got old on the radio, but we didn't hate the band for it. Some people just don't like people who are successful. In that concert in Portugal, they were kicked out of the stage, actually not because of the band itself, but because in that night they were between hard metal bands, with a total different kind of music and fans. And the metal fans just reacted... more... hardly... 😅

Hey guys love the content. I'm a fan of SOME Nickelback. I grew up with them, thier one of the first rock bands I heard as a kid. I do see why people hate them though. It's mostly do to the fact of how popular they became with such generic, medioric music. Their ok but nothing special. Their label and themselves know what sells and what doesn't. They have heavier tracks though, funny thing is people never mention those better tracks from them.
I was like 11 or 12 i think and nickel back was EVERYWHERE . I'm about to be 34 and I loved that band back then . I had their albums and everything. I was listening to young lil Wayne at the time WAY before other white kids recognized him as something special and I can remember telling other white kids how good Wayne was before he put out the carter 3 but I was always afraid to mention nickelback because they had so much hate on them
Keep in mind that where you lived is what you are judging what white kids liked, don't speak like any white kids around the world you probably from the mid-west, lol Btw, hope you had a happy bday!!
I never listened to people who claimed they hated Nickelback because any time I would call them on their bullshit and ask them to tell me why they hated them, or if they ever even actually listened to their music there was lame excuses or just nothing. It's like critics for movies, in the end you are best to just watch and listen for yourself and make your own judgment and make sure you have given it a chance to justify your like or dislike of something.
Yeah they probably denied the crap agenda that the music industry tries to impose on artists so they were all told to discredit them That happens a lot more than you would think Nickleback is the bomb! Love a lot of their songs
I like Nickelback and they definitely had hits. But sometimes you hear a rock song and you can tell the band made the song as radio friendly/cookie cutter as possible, with hopes it would be put in a Madden game or in a national commercial. People want to think your music is coming from your soul out of passion and not coming from your desire to sell out to get that money.
All I could think of when listening to the different reasons why they were hated is that u can day the same things about whatever band Adam Lavigne is in, they're generic radio crwpnthat appeals to the masses, there probably a year that went by where they were on the radio every second
I have to pause this at 6:23 to say, while "How You Remind Me" and other Nickleback songs were EVERYWHERE in the 90's and 2000's.. at no time did I ever get tired of hearing them! Lol.. and they were sandwhiched between Sarah McClochlin (sp), the Cranberries, No Doubt, Nirvana, Pearl Jam, Evenesence, Staind, Avril Lavigne, 3rd Eye Blind, Gin Blossoms.... I never got tired of any of it. :)
If anyone begs the question: 'Why does everyone hate on Nickelback SO much?!? I think they're a great rock band!'... Just listen to the song #1 Radio $ingle by Psychostick to get the gist of it. If Nickelback is in your music collection, and you're proud of that, there's likely a slew of generic sounds right alongside it.
I had no clue..I didn't listen to the radio like that..by that time we could download songs & make our own mix CDs..they really could've just turned the radio off🤔
I never understood all the Nickelback hate back in the day. I was like "what's with all the Nickelback hate all of a sudden?" But as far as the radio thing. Radio Stations choose who they want to play. And how many times. But if people heard them and were getting tired of it. All they had to do was CHANGE THE CHANNEL.
I always enjoyed their songs and didn’t understand the hate. The song/band I hated that was played wayyy too much back then was The Reason by Hoobastank (I think that is who did it).
Artist wise and as well as professionally, I do like Nickelback but I also see why the band could have taken a dive. I mean yes the crowds will push the narrative but that shouldn't be the only reason. After all they were still making sells and this is during the time where you had to watch Fuse TV or MTV or something just to even hear a song about anyone. So when the internet hit, people were introduced to media in a way that allowed people to share ideas and talk about stuff. I think they did so well but failed elsewhere. The success made them too played out. I remember my neighbor when I was younger would play Michael Jackson songs all day everyday during the summer and eventually got louder for a moment in the night to the point where i genuinely started to hate his music. I was already in the Eminem era/Rock/Alternative part of my life. So happy songs sounded way too inauthentic to me. I got over that feeling later on as I dove heavy into more older songs to learn and understand and when Nickelback hit my rader, I instantly hated them due to the same chords sounding the same like the last song. It was like the music was hollow but i later on liked some songs but I can still hear a hollowed out track. Like its a good song but something is missing. A soul? A vibe? Maybe it means something different to someone else but i didn't understand it? As time went on, i listened more professionally and i can just hear the same old vocals with that program i forgot what it is, where it sounds like autotune but isn't. It is to make the vocals sound clearer or something but you can hear it. After i watched a certain video talking about the chords and how they do the songs and it shocked me because the songs eventually just blend together if you listen to it a certain way and all end up sounding like there are no changes to the song or instrumentals even though that song that goes like "I scratched you name in the side of a bullet" and i thought that was hard but in time i can say i like Nickelback but I agree they didn't take risk they way others hear it. They made a lot of songs that to some would sound experimental and they didn't fit in any one genre or sound but did so well with some songs that there is variety for every person. Meme culture definitely kicked them down the curb a few times but i don't think hate comes to mind with Nickelback. Its the way they play sometimes that needs to switch up a bit like how an artist decides to give their sound a different mood or flow that isn't their own and usually fans hate it even though it is the same artist they love. Its that kind of energy but reversed. Its like they played it safe in the eyes of the public but it is still nice enough to hear the music, that people still buy their music. I still listen to Nickelback right along with MJ or Slipknot or Metallica or some pop shit. I just think it got blown out of proportion and they were called sellouts due to public hive mind mentality
I used to keep quiet about loving Nickelback because it felt like everyone hated them. I had no idea why! Now I think they just had never heard their music and just dismissed them.
I think my only issue with nickleback is their big hits like photograph and Rockstar were so overplayed on the radio that I got burnt out on them. I heard a lot of rock radio growing up working with my dad on the farm. So I think it's just burn out for those songs. But its not to say they're a bad band. They have good songs! You just have to look for them.

I loved Nickelback. Still listen to their music.
9:00 boys dead ass looked at each other as soon as the song name was said lmao
In that concert in Portugal, they were kicked out of the stage, actually not because of the band itself, but because in that night they were between hard metal bands, with a total different kind of music and fans. And the metal fans just reacted... more... hardly... 😅
Animals, Far Away, Feelin way too damn good, Figured you out, Gotta be somebody, How you remind me, If everyone cared, If today was your last day, Never again, Next Contestant, Photograph, Rockstar, Savin me, Should've listened, Someday, Too bad and more I'm probably forgetting but they're all slaps.
You guys should check out Hi Ren, By Ren. He's a great mix of Rap, singing and amazing guitar work.
I love me some Nickelback then and now...They'll always be the sh** to me...One my favorite soft rock bands...Y'all should play The Fray-How to save a life and Over My Head... X Ambassadors-Unsteady and Gorgeous
Im glad yall watched this. Nickelback is straight fire.
Y’all gotta check out Kid Rock Bawaitdaba at Woodstock ‘99 that shit is crazy af
Matter of fact it also didn't what genre or artist/group it was either... In song or artists/ group got very much out played on the radio at that time. There songs that get out played on radio in todays music, the difference is that we have devices and apps
Do a nickel back drum solo reaction.. their drummer 🔥
I didn’t think that I’d ever say that, but I’m glad that I’m from Russia couse i didn’t know about that hate trend back in the day when they became popular. We just enjoyed their music here.
It’s how the guy sings that gets me.
Y'all should check out tough crowd 💯 it's an goated show in the comedy community that had a lot of great comics like Patrice Oneal, rich vos , and Greg geraldo ....tough crowd and Opie and Anthony.... Patrice O'Neal vs....
I was listening to young lil Wayne at the time WAY before other white kids recognized him as something special and I can remember telling other white kids how good Wayne was before he put out the carter 3 but I was always afraid to mention nickelback because they had so much hate on them
Keep in mind that where you lived is what you are judging what white kids liked, don't speak like any white kids around the world
you probably from the mid-west, lol
Btw, hope you had a happy bday!!
I fucking loved Tough Crowd on Comedy Central! RIP Greg Geraldo 😇 he was my fav guest on the panel show. ❤
Nickleback is so bad ass. Listen to "Burn it to the Ground", "Shaking Hands", "Something in your mouth". You will see yourself.
thumbs up for the Raider hat
Yeah they probably denied the crap agenda that the music industry tries to impose on artists so they were all told to discredit them
That happens a lot more than you would think
Nickleback is the bomb! Love a lot of their songs
Nickelback were the agenda bland, watered down, dreck that is at least palatable to most demographics. It's a recipe for mass commercial appeal.
Bro Nickleback is literally as commercial as it gets
I think it’s time for you guys to listen to some r&b songs (in you case you haven’t already) start with mad riches by sonder
Warrant experienced that with their Cherry Pie song.
You should react to Zidane a soccer player. He’s a legend. The greatest midfielder of all time.
We went to a $0.45 concert a while back starring 50 cent and Nickelback. 😜
I had no clue..I didn't listen to the radio like that..by that time we could download songs & make our own mix CDs..they really could've just turned the radio off🤔
It's similar to what happened to Winger with Beavis & Butthead. Except B&B ruined Winger, Nickleback survived it.
You're right but wasn'it Warrant first,not Winger?
Nickelback's best songs were never played on the radio. Check out the song "Side of a bullet"
Still loving Nickelback ❤️
I never understood all the Nickelback hate back in the day. I was like "what's with all the Nickelback hate all of a sudden?" But as far as the radio thing. Radio Stations choose who they want to play. And how many times. But if people heard them and were getting tired of it. All they had to do was CHANGE THE CHANNEL.
they are a great band
Love Nickleback have seen them twice in concert
I liked Nickelback then and still do now.
Nickelback rocks and opinions from one big
doofis will not change mine! Listen to any of their complete albums and I promise you will feel the same!
I was overseas when all this went down, so it didn't get the hate thing. Their songs were fun.
Go to them live. They’re from Berta Baby. Like me.. they rock! Great time.
No wonder why they are not soo famous today 😔
I used to keep quiet about loving Nickelback because it felt like everyone hated them. I had no idea why! Now I think they just had never heard their music and just dismissed them.
Their song Animals set a fetchin tone y'all! Do that one and reap the bennies!!
Hey guys. Love your reviews. I like Nickelback. They're a great band. But can you guys review Five Finger Death Punch "Wrong Side of Heaven"? I know the band name is crazy, but that song s Awesome and it's about military veterans. It's several years old, but promise there's nothing like it. Love your channel!
Nickleback were like the Lil Yachty of today!🤣🤣🤣
You guys have to, and I mean have to do "Death of Autotune" by Slaughterhouse. Single greatest radio freestyle in the history of Hip Hop. And it's my birthday (Jan 14th) so there's another reason.
And Childish Gambino "Bonfire."
I hated them back in the early 2000s but that's before all these streaming services.
I forgot they existed until this video.
