He was always kept tabs on Mo but didn't do that to Miles when he became of age. He smoked weed and didn't get in trouble, Frank and Dee only talked to him. Frank should’ve been at least glad that she was being responsible instead of just being reckless and potentially risking an unwanted pregnancy. Sometimes BC is used for period regulation. He could have simply asked about the pills and it would have been a discussion from there. If he was more open minded, Moesha wouldn’t have felt the need to hide anything.

Mary Ellen, from the private school he sent her to (in order to keep her out of trouble), ended up pregnant, so he needs to count his blessings.

Yeah, I'm convinced. Something is truly wrong with your generation. How tf is being a teenager STILL LIVING UNDER YOUR FATHER'S ROOF & GETTING BIRTH CONTROL WITHOUT HIS KNOWLEDGE RESPONSIBLE? You do know that people have been known to have adverse effects from substances such as that, correct? So if that CHILD took those pills & suddenly dropped dead of a heart attack or some other fatal side effect from it, what the hell was Frank supposed to think? He would've really been devastated had something like that happened & learning that the cause was BC PILLS that he knew nothing about. The fact that she didn't even take those sorts of things into consideration prior to doing something like that BEHIND HIS BACK shows her lack of maturity which is WHY her parents LABELED her as still behaving as a CHILD. I swear, y'all wanna be so grown but don't want to take the necessary steps to ACCEPT the responsibilities that comes with BEING GROWN. Don't bother replying. You're muted

Secondly, I know if you took the time to write all that, then you'll be back to read the response, so welcome back boo😁
Thirdly, why did the clinic give them to her in the first place if everything you claim is true? She got them from medical professionals, not the black market, lol.
Irregardless, birth control or not, she would still be exposed to other potential risks. I think if we've learned anything from the high teen pregnancy rates, is that just because we don't give them birth control, it doesn't mean they won't have sex.

I think Frank could communicate with Moesha his uncomfortability in the situation and asked for time to process instead of running away. Considering this was made over twenty years ago about a semi-religious black family, it's a fairly realistic storyline juxtaposing parental expectations of purity and adolescent autonomy.

I know this was a very different time, a time I actually grew up in, but any time a man thinks he can tell a woman anything about what she does and does not do regarding her body makes me rage. Even in this situation, where the man is her father and the girl is a teenager. The reality is, teens are having sex, they are doing it no matter what their parents tell them about abstinence and we know purity culture only serves to screw them up in the head about normal biology. The thing is, if your kid is asking for bc it means they trust you enough to talk about it and it means they want to be responsible. The way this father acted ensures she won't ever trust him with this kind of thing and she probably won't trust the step mom either
