Man, all of us have to do something to get this channel more recognition. Your production value, method of presentation, opinions, etc., are all some of the best on CZcams, and 40K subscribers just isn't enough.
Absolutely. There isn't a better produced channel on watches out there that has the balance of humour, tech specs, thoughts. Re cinematography/editing - everyone else isnt even in the same league.
@@itsgarydevlin I think watchfinder has the best shots, but very hard to listen to the way the guy talks and how pretentious he is. This channel is great
Our hobby may be borderline nonsensical, but within the confines of it's nature, it probably doesn't get more "no nonsense" than with a Sinn. Great video!
Many watch channels are pretentious and can bore the viewer with details we don’t really care about. Yours are relevant, logical, crafted with refinement and an enjoyable style. I really enjoy your videos and more importantly they actually influence my thinking on watches. Thank you very much
I own the non-utc 856 since 2012. I love it as much today as I did the first day. The case still looks perfect and in addition to the hardness benefits of tegimented, the color is very cool. And it's just a great case shape/size. The bracelet didn't hold up quite as well and kind of aged but it's great. One thing to keep in mind, that I am sure many know, but, due to the proprietary tech in here like the inert gas and moisture capsule, that service, if done by RGM in the USA, or by Sinn is not cheap. I paid $540 back in 2019. As watch service goes, that isn't CRAZY , but.....I am sure you can find it for much less but who knows. The watch only cost around ~$1200 so.... But it's a keeper for me.
Thanks for injecting some fun and witty humour into your delivery, unto a hobby that is more typically approached with staunch sobriety and haughtiness - much like this comment.
Great video. I own this one and it is one of my favorites. Don’t see it ever leaving the collection. And if you want a change from the bracelet, it works well with a wide variety of NATO and leather straps.
This is a very impressive watch. I have a Tegemented U50, which is apparently impervious to damage, and is super accurate. It gains 6 seconds... a week! The relatively small premium for the UTC function makes this the version to go for, but to me, living in the UK where everywhere else is in a different time zone, a Traveller GMT movement makes more sense. If the AR technology increases the service interval then it's worth having. CEO Lothar Schmitt is an engineer rather than a stylist or accountant so I feel confident that any technology Sinn brings to their watches will be relevant to the intended use. This is a good review, thank you 😊.
I F’n love your sense of humour. Tegemented steel From caller time zones you teach it all. I really should buy something with this steel for my work watch.
Sinn is a solid brand and makes solid watches we all love. I personally own the 856 UTC, love it and wear it all the time. Also I have the 556 I Emerald Special Edition which is really beautiful and IMO a true dress watch. Something new to Sinn. Another brand I like a lot is Damasko which makes an awesome watches too. Just as addictive as the Sinns😀😀😀
Used to own this one and honestly I have no idea why I ever sold it. I liked it back then and I like it now... Also, I really like your videos. Keep up the great work bud!
As someone who has worn watches as a barista, coffee roaster and in warehouses either Sinn is as hard as you say or your buddy Brian works in a pillow warehouse. That's incredible technology.
I love my 856 non-utc for the cleaness of the dial. Couldn’t agree more with the durability. I love not worrying about messing this watch up no matter what I am doing. I wear it on a Barton rubber strap most the time. Never take it off. Great video on this superb watch!
You've got another subscriber, from me! For one, I've been hungover the purchase of my Sinn 856. Your filming and narrative of your video urged me. Now, I have done it. Oh yes. Your other videos have been watched. Keep it up.
Great content. I own the Sinn U50 and absolutely love it. The other problem I have with the clasp is that it’s not particularly attractive looking. The clasp on Sinn rubber straps works beautifully and looks much more refined.
I have owned the 556, 856, and 857, and have the same issue as you putting the watch on (6:22 in the video). Try sliding the watch on with the watch face on the palm side of your hand (watch face upside down) and then rotating when it clears your thumb. Works for me. HTH
Excellent review, as always. I've had my eye on the non-UTC 856 for a while. One advantage of the Sellita SW330 use is, they've now all been replaced with the SW330-2 for any new orders (per a Microbrand's response to me). This new revision has 56 hours instead of 42 hours of power reserve. It also makes the Sinn 856 price seem a bit easier to justify, in my watch nerd mind. Christopher Ward was the first to use the new variant (C63/C63 GMT...and now the Lander IV), but that has since slowly spread to other brands. I noticed this and the regular 856 (using the SW300) now also state 56 hours power reserve in the description. It may not sound like much, but the ability to leave a watch for 2 whole days (with a little extra) while wearing extra watches in the collection is a nice step up over 1 day. I do NOT believe this upgrade is coming to the SW200 line, but that sure would be nice.
@@drmanhattan225 I think the best way would be to wind it up fully and then just see how long the power reserve lasts. It new one is supposed to be ~56 hours. The old one was 42.
Found you only recently, but really dig your presentation style. And this watch. Man, that's a beauty. If been lusting after a Sinn for a few years, but having trouble choosing one (would love to buy more, but ain't gonna happen). I find the 556 so close to what I want...but is just a wee bit too simple. Also love that this one uses the hardened steel, and is GMT on top of that. Looks great on the other straps of course too!
I recently bought a 856 UTC as apresent for myself. The bead blasted metal and the tegiment process give the metal a very nice finish and medium grey colour that's quite different from the 556A I also have. Whereas I sometimes feel the 556A to be on the small side at 38.5mm the 856 is a good size for my wrist, not too small but not too big either. I do feel Sinn placed the date window on the 556A in a better, more elegant way. Perhaps the UTC function was a limiting factor? I do love how Sinn executed the H-links using hexagonal bolts. While it has a more cluttered dial than the 556A it still is an unmistakable Sinn watch with its bold 12-3-6-9 dial.
This watch is up next for when there's something to celebrate or commemorate. Thanks for this excellent video, turning me onto your channel. Subscribed!
I love my Sinn 103 for all the same reasons and this just makes me want to buy another. Solid review, funny/interesting/informative copy, and great quality production. Well done.
Love my Sinn’s, I’ve owned a couple. I will though complain about the clasp! Yes, it works, it’s not uncomfortable, etc. It’s just that the rest of the watch is so thoroughly designed and well built that the stamped clasp stands out as an afterthought, looks and feels out of place. Feels like it belongs on an entry level micro brand piece (nothing against them), not a $2000 German watch. Love Sinn, I’ve owned 3 and currently own a U50. It has the same sub par clasp.
I own the Sinn U1 SDR. It's a really great tool watch with exceptional diving capabilities. Am no diver and I don't work in harsh environments. Nonetheless, having the tegimented steel "protection" gives me plenty peace of mind to go about my dailies and not get too worried about scratches. My Sinn is reaching 8 years old this year and it's like new 😉 Will check out this 856 UTC when I get a chance.. love the dimensions.
Every time when I see a wrist shot of a watch, I look in a corner of a screen for the information about the dimensions of this wrist, especially if an author fails to say what this wrist size is. Too bad that too many creators just being thoughtless and ignore this.
