Making of a Pathak: Dhol Tasha Drumming In India 1

This is a documentary film made by FLOW: Social Sciences Research Organisation in association with Taal Inc. to study the stages of formation in a Dhol Tasha (traditional Maharashtrian drums) Pathak (group).
The film explores the drumming procession during the festival for Lord Ganesh which is India's first man-made festival (by Lokmanya Tilak) through a psychological, ethnomusicological and social perspective.
In today's day and age where modern rituals are replacing traditional ones it is of utmost importance to understand the spirit of the roots of one's tradition.
This film is an objective way to observe the same.

पण हेहि सुचवण्यात यावे की एक चांगला वादक झाल्यानंतर त्या लाभलेल्या कलेचा कुठेही गर्व होउनये (जे आजकालच्या पथकात होत आहे) ते होता कामा नए ह्यची प्रत्यक वादकानी ध्यानात ठेवावे।लक्षात ठेवावे की नवीन वादक एका जुन्या चांगल्या वाजवणार्या वादक चांगल्या व वाईट गोष्टी (गर्व) ही शिकत असतो

Am not sure about rates etc. But you will find shops selling Dhol Tasha components in Pune near Pasodya Vithoba (पासोड्या विठोबा).
