- Today we share our Virgin Voyages Scarlet Lady what we loved and what we hated. There are so many things we loved about this ship but we narrowed it down to a few as well as a couple things we did not like. We hope you enjoy the video.

It’s very nice to know that the employees are treated well. For us that’s worth paying extra for the holiday.
Glad to see you on Virgin! I have followed you for years on train travel. My family insisted that they take me on The Resilient Lady the end of November for the cruise that ends in San Juan. We have airline benefits… I’ve cruised many times through the years and really haven’t had the desire until I learned how wonderful Virgin Voyages are! Been exploring the states more on trains. I always learn from your experiences. Thanks 🙏
I loved my Virgin cruise and agree with you about the pros and cons. It's just worth noting that bar tab is usually not included unless there's a special promotion.
They have been given a lot of $300 bar tabs especially lately with all the cancellations this is the time to book my new booking came with a $600 bar tab plus I have sailor loot since this is my 2nd cruise. So basically we can drink $600 dollars worth of alcohol Ms specialty drinks plus we can do food upgrade and purchase anything on the ship with our sailor loot all given to us by virgin voyages just for booking!
I've just disembarked Scarlet Lady and am planning to create a very similar video - your points are really valid, and also really balanced which is great!
Thanks we will give it a try! Good info.
I love your take on travel. Thank you for doing what you do!
O totally agree with the room size and lighting, and the Galey we didn’t have a problem. Virgin is so far the best cruise line out of all of them we have been which are seven cruise lines including the luxury ones.
Very informative video, only thing missing was a chat about entertainment etc. Thanks for taking the time to share your thoughts with us. This gives me a much better feel that I would not be out of place on VV!
Virgin is also our fave!! So glad you experienced. We are back on Scarlet this October:)
Thanks for this review, my wife and I are slow traveling in Europe this year and used a repositioning cruise from Florida to Europe a couple months ago and started looking at repositioning cruises back, we found a Virgin Voyages cruise from Barcelona to Miami and thought of y’all’s channel for a review, glad we did. We will be using this as our way back to the states for the Holidays this year. Your review helped us make the decision
As they go along in your video I realize your carnival cruisers. Enough said enjoy your cruise I'm sure it's fabulous
Hi guys! Thus was helpful. I like that Virgin's fares are almost all-inclusive. I would also enjoy knowing the ships crew are happy.
Great information ,now time to book a destination on Virigin ship.. thanks👍👊
We are on our first VV next month for our tenth anniversary. We are veterans of CCL and RCCL and look forward to this whole change of thought. Thank you for a great video!
Great info, we are going on our first Virgin cruise in a couple of weeks. Thanks
Thanks for the information I am sailing In November looking forward to it
This is a super helpful video and appreciated hearing about the pros and cons. Thank you!
Glad it was helpful!
I really liked my Virgin cruise on the Scarlet Lady! Totally agree with ALL of your points- both the good and bad..Going back on her in March! I would be on Virgin more often but, me in Jacksonville and Virgin in Miami, well, the travel is a bit of a hurdle..BUT, in March I am going to try something different and get to Miami by way of train..Knock on wood it should be an adventure! Hopefully on the fun side! LOL
Great content!
Yessssssss....I agree with having to go to bed early the last night...
I'm concerning for the future. Thanks for the input.
Thank you for this wonderful synopsis! I'm trying to convince hubbie to give Virgin a try (he's a foodie!), but he's so nervous that it will feel too 'colorful' and keeps pushing back. I'm going to share your wonderful video with him so he can see that it's just a wonderful, classy experience with amazing food. LOVE ALL OF THE VIDEOS THAT YOU TWO PRODUCE! Thank YOU for your hard work!!!
68 years old and somewhat conservatice. LOVE virgin.
My hubby was feeling the same way about VIRGIN but we took the cruise in March this year and had a wonderful time, the “ colorful vibe” is there but not in your face. I felt even better about the experience with VV after we then went on our first CARNIVAL cruise with the kids in June a few months later and they had a whole “colorful” themed night🤔. If you want a NO kids and great food experience no one is doing what virgin is doing of course you can cruise in the off season with other cruise lines to possibly get a similar experience. I do think they have some things to work on as far as entertainment. We didn’t get a chance to see any of the shows because they had a really great band there on our cruise that we enjoyed throughly every night so we weren’t too concerned about the show anyway. We are going back in December this year.
Sounds good. Glad to hear that the old days (pay, relax and enjoy your cruise) seem to be coming back! As for black out curtains I actually like to get that gentle reminder that the sun is coming out in the morning. Allowing passengers to stay in rooms until 10 a.m. is a bit long. Anywhere between 8:00 - 9:00 on disembarkation day is fine and embarkation between 12-2 pm is good for me. In as far as poor lighting in bathroom, that's fine with me. What defects you don't see can't hurt! They do want you to feel better on a cruise! Question: You seem to cruise a lot but your weight seems to be same or down as well. What's the trick?
I loved Virgin… my hubby did not. He loves upper deck activities on Royal. So he was not happy about the lack of slides…etc. I love food.. so you know I loved it.
Thanks for the video. You didn't mention the entertainment or the pool. Other vlogs call out the entertainment and the pool area as big differences from other cruise lines. The entertainment has been described as off-beat and the pool and pool area as very small for a ship of that size. Any thoughts?
Its the food for me...yessss
We r going in March!!
I agree it is the best I have been on as well
Our Debarkation time was 1015. Got to sleep in, eat a leisurely breakfast and never rushed.
How do buy a day pass to the thermal suite? I didn't see that listed in the spa anywhere?
Our curtains were blackout. However we had an aft facing suite so maybe suites come with blackout?
If you show up at your scheduled Terminal Arrival Time as shown on the app, there is no waiting for check in and boarding. On each of our cruises, we were in our cabin within 15 minutes of our scheduled arrival time. It works great if you are not early. As for a late check out at the hotel if you arrive a day ahead. The Galley has improved each time we've cruised VV. I think it is a "work in progress." I'm surprised at your comment about black out curtains. We had a white black out curtain next to the window/door and then a sheer curtain over that on the room side. It was a great black out curtain. Is it possible that you didn't ever close the heavier drape? Another possibility for "sit in the room and have dinner" is to go to The Galley where they have a nightly dinner special....get your food and take it back to your room. Some of the dinner specials were REALLY good.
I don’t think you can enthuse about not having to disembark early and then complain that boarding happened later than you would like. One timing begets the other.
@@kepckatherinec805 And having cabin access when you check in is great too!
Good afternoon everyone
We usually sail celebrity x europe as we are from Ireland . I think I understand the general differences but would you say that virgin can compare ? eg food / service / ship . I dont like the look of the facilities eg pool deck bland and small but the food choices look amazing .
Did you have to pay extra for the thermal spa? Thank you for your review. Will be going on VV for the first time in September.
Considering a Virgin cruise and just wondering how you book? Do you go directly through Virgin or some other way?
Virgin is very Travel Agent friendly - the most of any cruise line so an agent would've been able to tell you about the embarkation and debarkation. Most people don't realize that you don't pay extra for an agent. Most of us are trained and have lots of information for guests.
I’m an agent as well and totally agree. They are the easiest I’ve ever booked.
Well trained or not, when a third party is involved, they have to be compensated somehow and this general means hidden or higher fees with a travel agency.
Maybe explain what a thermal suite is for those of us who are new to cruising.
This is the 2nd channel I've watched regarding Virgin...I like the hamock....My daughter would want lounging chairs as well...she likes sleeping on the balcony...I am not liking the room at all...I would be forced to get a suite...even for just her and I...if I were traveling solo ...the room would be fine for me...
How much is thermal suite? Is it extra or included in the price of admission onto the boat?
Wanting to try but there pricing is high compared to what i am used too.
They assign you a specific embarkation time. You love that you have until 10 am to leave the ship but say you don’t like not being able to get on until 2? Can’t have it both ways
So show up to Virgin at 2pm...
I'm a very experienced cruiser, but I'm also 90 years old. How out of sync would I feel on a Virgin Voyage?
Years ago this is how it was on a cruise ship…everything was included. You pay enough with airfare, port charges and cruise fare. What I see with all the changes, I don’t care to cruise again.
And I forgot the tipping.
Ok, you've convinced me, but I do have a question, Is there anywhere to stargaze on the ship?
We went on our first VV cruise earlier this year (Valiant Lady) and it was awesome! We enjoyed it so much, we booked another one. Hint, if you want a great deal on your next VV cruise, reserve it while still onboard. You put a $300 deposit down, and the reservation is good for two years.
So I take it Virgin has a later departure
Yes, later than most
Was Virgin more expensive than Disney?
I don't think anything is more expensive than Disney! You could probably pay less than Disney on Holland America or Viking! 😂
Complaints and solutions
1. They don’t have blackout curtains! (Get an eye mask)
2. They don’t let you on until late and they don’t yell at you enough about it! (So, arrive later)
3. People’s orders getting lost! (Ask someone for help or eat literally anything else)
4. The bathroom’s too small! (Cough up the money for a bigger room)
5. Room service doesn’t always work! (Again, eat literally anything else)
Y’all really just grasping for stuff to complain about. Just be glad about the cruise. It’s ok to say everything was great!
I'll take a sleep mask.
Unfortunately you need a reservation for absolutely everything. And with very small capacity restaurants, that’s an issue. And you’re only allowed to book the same restaurant one time. So if you liked the Mexican place and wanted to eat there again, sorry, you’re screwed. I noticed you didn’t mention the entertainment either, which is…different (to be polite).
We didn’t have a problem going to a restaurant a second time we just either had to go early or late and yes book your reservations 45 days out. I believe if your sailing 7 or more nights you can reserve each restaurant twice
You were limited to two nights per restaurants
We could walk-in with a 10 to 15 min wait no problem. Guess depends on how busy the ship is
This is why I did not book with Virgin. I don’t want to keep checking an app, to try to find a new opening for things that quickly sold out: meal reservations, classes, shows, etc. We paid for it all, but if it’s all “sold out,” then that is a poor business model for their customers. You have paid for things you cannot get!
When you have people sleeping in till 10 because they’re don’t want their night ruined what do you think would happen. Please get off the ship at 7 lol. Is this guy kidding me.
Hated???? For a really down to earth couple who apper to keep the "Screaming Headlines" under control....please rethink your titles, you are better....Liked and Disliked...really need to run 'Hated"?..
Fyi I'm an elite member with princess and we cruise Holland America an awful lot. On our Scarlett Lady Cruise it was a nightmare trying to get into restaurants that you wanted at a time you wanted or at a consistent time every night. Personally I did not notice that the food quality was that much better than other cruise ships there are cruise ships that have terrible food but I don't cruise on them LOL. You also have to have reservations to do just about anything just nightmare relax and get away from it all
We took our first Virgin cruise last week on Scarlet Lady. We loved it!! We have already booked for January. The best service and food we have had across the 5 lines we have tried. As far as people showing up early, they should book their embarkation time in the app and do some research and understand that that is when they are supposed to arrive. We had no issue in the Galley as you spoke of so hopefully it’s that way in January as well. We really liked the set up where there are not hundreds of people all handling food tongs. The pizza is really good however it gets very busy at times. Bimini beach club is so much fun too. 🛳️
It's obvious you don't Cruise very much. Your first point about being able to stay on the ship till 10:00 has a tremendous downside. Savvy cruisers arrive at least a day early because of the inconsistency of the airlines these days and the hotel wants you out at 11:00 but virgin doesn't want you boarding till 2:00 p.m. use negative. Why would you want to stay on a shift till 10:00 or 11:00 in the morning most people travel to get to a destination they want to get off early and start their day apparently you don't and that's okay with you there's an ass for every seat as they say in the car business
