Recently, two Yamaha sales representatives were selected from across the USA to visit Yamaha’s main piano factory and headquarters in Japan for an exclusive piano training workshop. One of those representatives was Dwayne Hilton, President of Lacefield Music in St. Louis, Missouri. The other was our very own Hugh Sung, Director of Institutional Solutions at Cunningham Piano. After 4 intense days of training, Hugh and Dwayne sat down together to share their thoughts on this rare behind-the-scenes look at Yamaha’s piano manufacturing methods and philosophies. Here is an edited transcript from their discussion.

Just finished watching this wonderful overview and commentary of Yamaha's music factory. After viewing I have a greater appreciation for the great craftsmanship of their instrument manufacturing. I purchased a Yamaha CLP - 685 a couple of years ago and it is the best digital piano I have ever acquired. Thanks again to Hugh and Dwayne for this presentation.

Those are the very reasons I love Yamaha and other Japanese products. Work ethics and passion.

Amazing. Always wanted to go there to check it out myself. Gives an insight on the culture of Yamaha/japan and how they view the piano. Interesting and insightful!

Incredible! I want to visit Yamaha’s piano factory! That looks absolutely impressive and amazing! No wonder they make such tremendous instruments. I have visited some piano factories here and there.... and was very impressed by the factories in Germany and not so much by one of piano factories here in the USA....🤔
