I’ve been saying this for ages. There’s also just so much exploitation. I’ve seen so many thumbnails that are children in distress with captions like “he touched me!” it’s so fucking gross
I’ve seen a few where they make the women more sexually attractive. There was this one thumbnail where the girls breast were blown up to about three times their size and her face had a filter similar to the bold glamor filter on it. The girl was also like 17 🤢🤮
My theory on why this is, is that since the channels in question seem to operate mostly to farm engagement (likely for profit,) they'd kind of exist in a cycle of desensitization, wherein they have to continuously escalate the depravity of the content involved, in order to keep getting a rise out of people at a fast enough rate to get a good profit out of it. It's like ore mining in Factorio; one can persist off of only a few mining drills at first, but at some point you have to start placing them in progressively more awkward and far-reaching places to prevent the factory from stagnating or shutting down. In this analogy, the factory is the growth of the channel and its profit, and the number of mining drills is the intensity of the subject matter involved.
Bruh there was this one video I got recommended titled something like: "Transgenders who think they're above the law" and the thumbnail said: "You can't arrest me, I'm lgbt!!1!" So pride month is off to a good start
If I just escaped someone's basement and told the police, and months later go online only to see that "john detective crimes" made a video about my case with my shirt made bright blue with the text "he tried to put me in a blender, sir" with the title "moments when people realized they got caught for crimes" I would put a fucking bath in my toaster.

I think there’s a difference between laughing at other’s misfortune and laughing as a coping mechanism from stressful situations. Some things are shocking enough that the first thing you can do is laugh because otherwise all you can feel is fear and remorse.

As a detective myself in the Homocide Investigation Unit, “EWU” is very well done and exactly the things a detective would notice and think. Detectives (like me) are often quick to jump to conclusions if we don’t know anything about this person except allegations. As soon as we find something a little off we poke at it until they crack. In fact my colleague used to provide information for them, and he has been in the HIU for 17 years. The “EWU” channel offers a look into what a detective is thinking and noting on that a regular everyday person wouldn’t think to pay attention to. I definitely do notice those things while interrogating someone and even write them down in my notebook.
Alot of these videos are also produced with AI thumbnails, AI voices, and sometimes just used as copy-and-paste for transitions and shit like that. I've also noticed that alot of them just use auto-recognition features for sentences, and also combined with the AI Thumbnails and AI voices in some channels- It really makes it feel like it's just there to quickly slap up some slop to activate their money farm.
Yeah, another money-farm using multiple same channels. It's just like the science channels. Empty info, AI voice alongside with the thumbnails, and clickbait titles. Damn!
@@Tommyknocker. It sucks- because it ruins the genre of content as a whole. There are people in this "genre" who actually put effort into their videos, hire voices, etcetera, and also tell the real stories without clickbait. It's hard to find those channels, when it's filled with slop.
One of these slop channels made a video about my old teacher who was arrested for molesting a classmate of mine. The comments are full of people trying to spin this narrative that he is some innocent guy who was framed because of MeToo or whatever. I always was told as a kid, "You take the news at face value, until they cover a subject you know more about." I finally fully understand that now.
Nowadays it feels like it’s harder to find a CZcamsr that covers bodycam or true crime with the respect the victims deserve Edit: Haunted Autopsy is one of the best CZcamsrs who fall under this category he’s really good at researching and making his video have an appropriate tone to them. Tragedy Tales is more of a compilation of multiple tragedies but he does a really good job making his videos feel really human and genuine especially with his wishes for the victims at the end of his videos
I think the worst example of this would be Plagued Moth. This grown man literally left an audio clip of an infant being tortured mentally and did nothing about it until later where they removed it entirely.
THANK YOU it's all so often covered with a level of disconnect like it's treated as a movie made for entertainment. It's sort of given me a level disdain for true crime as a whole. Like seeing so many comments of videos talking about whipping out their popcorn on a Saturday to "enjoy" the story of a woman being murdered by a abusive ex, it's just treated like it's almost funny? @@almond3066 Yeah personally I think people over the years have viewed true crime and bodycam as entertainment but in a more traditional way which is dangerous because these are actual stories with real people and real consequences around their communities that happened. To me, I always found true crime to be something you’re supposed to learn from. To learn how to avoid some of these situations and also how life is so twisted and cruel. To bring light into some of these people that deserved so much better in life but unfortunately didn’t. True crime should be education first before anything else imo. It’s why I much prefer traditional big studios/companies to do true crime more than CZcamsrs because they’re done in a professional and well respected manner. Most CZcamsrs that I see now don’t do this
The thing that made JCS good was literally in the name: "JCS Criminal Psychomogy". So many of these slop channels rely on shock value to get clicks, while JCS was focusing on the unique cases of how people react in interogation. People liked it because it ws executed so well, with good comentary, useful insights and respect to the victims
CZcams should really try to crack down on these channels because this goes from just exaggerating stories to just lying and using serious harmful topics as clickbait

Misery Machine used to be okay, but after getting in trouble with youtube, they went completely in the "gruesome child cases" and never looked back. Mind you, they used to cover other cases, but now they only make videos about the most horrible child ab*se and m*rder cases. Just super weird all around.

I used to watch them as well, but weirdly enough after CZcams brought down the hammer on them (rather unfairly in that case) they just....went full tilt? Before they'd cover children cases occasionally but now it's ALL they do and the most gruesome ones too. When youtube got them in hot water, they even asked the audience if they should keep making videos about children or drop it entirely. A majority of people agreed that if it was too emotionally taxing and got them in trouble, then they should drop it. But for whatever reason, they hit the gas pedal. I had never seen the merchandise before either, so it's even more bizarre what they have going on. The AI generated shirts put this in an even stranger light before.
I have a feeling a percentage of their viewers are pedos who get off on hearing all the horrific ways children were being tortured by their own parents. They have to be aware that their content must be reaching that kind of audience even if that's not the intended audience.
I'm surprised more people aren't talking about them. Selling a shirt that says "true crime is boring" while covering nothing but graphic child cases is an extra layer of weird.

My algorithm is broken with these videos and videos of someone reading Reddit posts, and I can’t help but notice a weird similarity between The Misery Machines thumbnails and those r/EntitledPeople videos. An image of a person with a weird and completely made up quote, like “I want a child, give me yours!” or “Her head was squishy.”

I watch EWU and their stuff can be clickbaity at times, but they’re the least offending ones in this entire video. Their videos for the most part are original and cover cases that are unique and different. They do interviews with the people who are involved in the videos like the victims, family members, and even suspects sometimes which is really insightful. My favorite video of theirs is definitely the one you showed called “When Evil Teens Think Murder is Hilarious” because that case was genuinely insane, but the thumbnail is hilarious lmao. As far as I know, EWU has an actual group of people working on the videos and isn’t some AI content farm stealing videos. As for the rest of the channels you showed, yeah almost all of those are AI content farms stealing videos from one another since you can tell from the ugly thumbnails and the captions being filled with spelling errors. JCS set the standard for true crime videos, but unfortunately now there’s so many trying to chase the bag of true crime videos that you get these AI content farms making garbage just for a quick buck. I won’t lie, I’ve definitely watched some of them like Detective Williams because I wanted to see what happens in the video lmao. But yeah almost all of these true crime channels are content farms using AI slop to make a quick buck sadly and CZcams should definitely start cracking down on content farms in general
Another thing I've found really offputting is how some of these videos will have a title like "Crazy KARENS Getting Arrested!" and then the first clip is someone who is suffering from psychosis and extremely distressed getting shot for not putting down a knife fast enough.

One of these slop channels made a video about my old teacher who was arrested for molesting a classmate of mine. The comments are full of people trying to spin this narrative that he is some innocent guy who was framed because of MeToo or whatever. I always was told as a kid, "You take the news at face value, until they cover a subject you know more about." I finally fully understand that now.
Nowadays it feels like it’s harder to find a CZcamsr that covers bodycam or true crime with the respect the victims deserve
Edit: Haunted Autopsy is one of the best CZcamsrs who fall under this category he’s really good at researching and making his video have an appropriate tone to them. Tragedy Tales is more of a compilation of multiple tragedies but he does a really good job making his videos feel really human and genuine especially with his wishes for the victims at the end of his videos

I think the worst example of this would be Plagued Moth. This grown man literally left an audio clip of an infant being tortured mentally and did nothing about it until later where they removed it entirely.
THANK YOU it's all so often covered with a level of disconnect like it's treated as a movie made for entertainment. It's sort of given me a level disdain for true crime as a whole. Like seeing so many comments of videos talking about whipping out their popcorn on a Saturday to "enjoy" the story of a woman being murdered by a abusive ex, it's just treated like it's almost funny? And these same people go on about respect for the victims as if they had any to begin with

@@almond3066 Yeah personally I think people over the years have viewed true crime and bodycam as entertainment but in a more traditional way which is dangerous because these are actual stories with real people and real consequences around their communities that happened. To me, I always found true crime to be something you’re supposed to learn from. To learn how to avoid some of these situations and also how life is so twisted and cruel. To bring light into some of these people that deserved so much better in life but unfortunately didn’t. True crime should be education first before anything else imo. It’s why I much prefer traditional big studios/companies to do true crime more than CZcamsrs because they’re done in a professional and well respected manner. Most CZcamsrs that I see now don’t do this
The thing that made JCS good was literally in the name: "JCS Criminal Psychomogy". So many of these slop channels rely on shock value to get clicks, while JCS was focusing on the unique cases of how people react in interogation. People liked it because it ws executed so well, with good comentary, useful insights and respect to the victims

Misery Machine used to be okay, but after getting in trouble with youtube, they went completely in the "gruesome child cases" and never looked back.
Mind you, they used to cover other cases, but now they only make videos about the most horrible child ab*se and m*rder cases. Just super weird all around.
tbh their name really bothers me too. calling the channel "the misery machine," while fitting for the subjects they talk about, does come across to me as kinda weird and almost insensitive. idk maybe I'm weird for feeling that way about it but it just feels wrong

I used to watch them as well, but weirdly enough after CZcams brought down the hammer on them (rather unfairly in that case) they just....went full tilt? Before they'd cover children cases occasionally but now it's ALL they do and the most gruesome ones too. When youtube got them in hot water, they even asked the audience if they should keep making videos about children or drop it entirely. A majority of people agreed that if it was too emotionally taxing and got them in trouble, then they should drop it. But for whatever reason, they hit the gas pedal. I had never seen the merchandise before either, so it's even more bizarre what they have going on. The AI generated shirts put this in an even stranger light before.

I have a feeling a percentage of their viewers are pedos who get off on hearing all the horrific ways children were being tortured by their own parents. They have to be aware that their content must be reaching that kind of audience even if that's not the intended audience.

im an avid watcher of misery machine and have noticed theyve been using AI to upscale images of innocent child victims, which is very gross and tacky. i left a comment about and it they tried to make it seem like i was suggesting their images were generated by AI itself. ive noticed a bunch of other true crime channels doing this same thing, i find it such a disgusting thing to do to real victims.

I watch EWU and their stuff can be clickbaity at times, but they’re the least offending ones in this entire video. Their videos for the most part are original and cover cases that are unique and different. They do interviews with the people who are involved in the videos like the victims, family members, and even suspects sometimes which is really insightful. My favorite video of theirs is definitely the one you showed called “When Evil Teens Think Murder is Hilarious” because that case was genuinely insane, but the thumbnail is hilarious lmao. As far as I know, EWU has an actual group of people working on the videos and isn’t some AI content farm stealing videos. As for the rest of the channels you showed, yeah almost all of those are AI content farms stealing videos from one another since you can tell from the ugly thumbnails and the captions being filled with spelling errors. JCS set the standard for true crime videos, but unfortunately now there’s so many trying to chase the bag of true crime videos that you get these AI content farms making garbage just for a quick buck. I won’t lie, I’ve definitely watched some of them like Detective Williams because I wanted to see what happens in the video lmao. But yeah almost all of these true crime channels are content farms using AI slop to make a quick buck sadly and CZcams should definitely start cracking down on content farms in general

I'm glad someone talked about this, at some point I started getting suggestions non stop about this particular slop and I was legit starting to question myself if it was all AI generated because they all say the same, they all are exact copypastes of fake clickbaits, and they all have the same narrator voice that adds little to no substance while jumping immediately into conclusions during interrogations, it's absolutely ridiculous.
