Its not the new york server its ping abuse, lag compensation is the system that lets varying pings play together relatively balanced, unfortunately it always errs on the side of the player with the worse ping. I can play on a 30ms server and do somewhat okay, if I go to London/Amsterdam at 130ms I can hit 2k games almost every single time.
