I love that this aired on CBS - a channel a lot of older generations who don't understand drag probably watch so they can learn that drag isn't scary and demonic, but joyful and celebratory. I'm also dying at "witchcraft and therapy" and that Jinx earnestly took the CBS reporter to a witch store. Drag representation AND witch representation in mainstream media we are truly blessed on this holy day of the groundhog

@@silentmajority8365 Actually, sex is determined by chromosomes which are made up of proteins and DNA, organized into genes. Typically these sex chromosomes are XY or XX. However, intersex individuals may be born with chromosomes that fall outside of this pattern, such as XXY. This is why some people are born with biological characteristics that are not strictly “male” nor “female.”
I saw Chicago last weekend, and just like she said…she stood out there and signed every playbill, poster, hat, coffee cup…EVERYTHING! She then went around and took a selfie with everyone. Just amazing!

I'm so glad Jinx felt comfortable in this interview every other interview I've seen them in they're always cracking jokes or laughing nervously after everything they say. Seems like they're finally opening up to the world and letting the world in.
As both a drag queen of 27 years and someone who's watched Jinkx Monsoon's ascent since she first stepped in front of a television camera, I can attest she represents something quite unique that speaks to a huge spectrum of people. Had RuPaul only been looking for a polished professional that excels in every category of the craft, it's unlikely Jinkx would have gotten far. Instead, RuPaul saw something in her that said "that's one to watch" and to see this underdog pull the carpet out from under her poised competitors that year - virtually none of whom saw her as a threat to their own stardom - had America cheering.
It was even more poetic that upon bringing the other winners RuPaul had crowned over the years back for a "best of the best" competition, Jinkx returned a much more refined artist but again bested her contemporaries....because she hadn't allowed anything about the cutthroat business or the marginalization that remains a constant reality change who she was inside. That's impossibly rare with drag queens. It's not something you can fake with hip pads and synthetic hair. For someone whose craft is built on illusion, there is nothing artificial about her. As evidenced by the crowds at the theater door, Jinkx Monsoon is a genuine superstar to many. Broadway is merely the lastest to catch on.

I’ve been waiting for AGES to see some footage of her singing as Mama Morton. Of course as I expected, she’s fabulous.
As a girl who was there on her opening night, and has seen her perform for many years, she is at her best as Mama, she is clearly having so much fun and you can feel it
She was always my all-time favorite favorite queen on Drag Race. Watching her even more this past year has been an absolute joy. Thank you, Jinkx - we love you!!

Most people don't realize that through the Shakespearean era, only men were allowed to play women's roles on stage.
This is such a full circle moment from season 5 when she sat down with Ru and said her biggest goal was to do drag on Broadway and now she’s fulfilling that. Way to go Jinkx.

I have adored this human since they walked into Mama Ru's werkroom. Her talent was obvious from the start. So proud of our home town girl!
Jinkx recently appeared in Portland at a 2,992 seat venue. The priciest tickets, in the pit, were just shy of $1000. I was there for Nutcracker yesterday, by the Oregon Ballet Theater. Not a bad seat in the house at Keller Auditorium. A PERFECT venue for a drag show. Beautiful theater.

Great interview! I’ve been following Jinkx’s career for years and she is the best. I’m so happy that her dream has come true; she deserves it. I think that the extreme right has targeted drag queens because they need a target for their hate and drag is an easy target.
