I saw the documentary Perfect Bid today and this is the first time I truly paid attention to how AWESOME this song is. I've heard it since I was a kid but, jesus, this is funky and amazing.
YEESSSS there's a lot more to these tunes than just being "fillers" on a TV show! This particular tune reminds me a bit of Chips, The People's Court and many other shows of that era!
This one nearly has a marching band on a field show type of feel! It would be interesting to see a marching band use this piece on a field doing a game show tribute type of show
Dude I know, I was saying either that or a terrible porno film. But a lot of this music is like that listen to all that percussion, somebody’s playing bongos, somebody is playing a triangle, The composer is playing a moog, They got Wawa pedals on the guitar, I listened to all of these cause I was driving and I was trying to stay awake, and some of them even have that thing that they had in these 70’s music where they would pan the sound back-and-forth between left and right channel. Obviously some of these were recorded in stereo even though you’re not going to hear that coming from your shitty old TV in the 70s.
I understand from a friend of mine who watched TPIR recently that the geniuses who run the show nowadays have changed all the music cues except for the show open. Empty heads don't understand the milieu of their own show. If anything, I'm sure young folks nowadays would listen and hear this music as "cool retro." Dan, THANK YOU SO MUCH for posting these. I and a couple of my closest friends all love them and appreciate them very much!!!!
this song screams the 1970's, complete with a shiny disco ball (above) sparkiling as you dance on a glowing multi-colored dance floor (ala Tony Manero in "Saturday Night Fever.")
@@ratspam7655 BINGO, describes it perfectly, I was too young to really recall that since I was a child when these scores were made in the early 1970s just around six years old or so.
As a kid, I'd feign sickness to stay home from school to watch the Price is Right. After it went off, I was bored for the rest of the day. I loved the music cues. Later on, I got to work in radio with some other pretty good production music libraries, but nothing as good as the music they had on TPIR. Thanks so much for putting these up so we can all enjoy them again... and again!
when I was a kid, I remember staying home sick from school with peanut butter sandwiches and tomato soup and watching this show.......thiis and the Tattle Tales theme is probably the reason I went into a music background!!!!!
Starsky and Hutch have a case featuring: Howard Cosell, Don Meredith, and Frank Gifford, within the skybox, during a ABC Monday Night Football game; with pimp Huggy Bear (Antonio Fargas). Karl Malden (Lt. Mike Stone) and Michael Douglas (Steve Keller) in "The Streets of San Francisco"; "Vegas" (Robert Urich, Tony Curtis, Judy Landers); "Baretta" (Robert Blake); "Hart to Hart" (Robert Wagner and the luscious Stefanie Powers)
@@kshinokevin You left out Phyllis Davis from Vega$. She actually was a substitute model on TPIR once. There is a Dennis James Nighttime episode posted with her in it.
Got this stuck in my head for the past couple weeks at RANDOM and had to find out where this was from....I had a feeling that it was from The Price is Right!
Takes me back to the early days when Bob Barker had a head of hair on him before it turned white :) Love the Mountain Climber theme / Cliffhanger :) Makes a good ringtone :) lol
This music will forever be with me. All the elements of surprise and wonder in every tune. Thank you Bob Barker and all the original cast of TPIR. You gave us that little spark to be musicians as children❤
Randy? Only time Bob might have had a Randy was during the brief periods between Johnny Olsen and Rod Roddy, or between Rod and Rich Fields, where they went through a few temporary announcers before settling on a replacement.
“first, you could win an elegant ring! second, you could win a new dining room! third, you could win a vegas getaway! and fourth, you could win this brand new car!”
Sir if u think for one moment that i would try to remove the greatest music in television then something is wrong with both of us cause i grew up watching this game show and hearing these game cues as a young kid being around my grandmother and my mom... i often come back to these cues to take me back to a time that will never be seen again...
OUTSTANDING Dan....Brings back so many memories as a kid when I would fake being sick, stay home, and watch TPIR. LOL Love the cues! The quality is amazing! What's the story behind how you came into possession of them?
I miss this legendary man Bob Barker :(
Me too
I saw the documentary Perfect Bid today and this is the first time I truly paid attention to how AWESOME this song is. I've heard it since I was a kid but, jesus, this is funky and amazing.
Same. And I grew up on this in the 80s. Forgot how great it was

This is pure gold!! This sounds like the score to a 1970's chase scene!

John Carroll, you are spot on. Agree 100%. Empty heads for sure, ruining what was good and fun!

I would describe it as Cocktail Lounge music. Disco came later.

Feels like l should be viewing prizes in my Showcase Showdown, narrated by either Johnny Olsen or Rod Roddy. Gosh those were the days.
It's a new car! The 1984 Ford Escort L 2 door hatchback with manual transmission and California emissions!
I was a kid in the 1970s and the 1980s. The music was my favorite. I love ❤it. I'm listening to it on my car right now.

Indeed it does! That's been my ringtone for years! I can't bear to make it anything else
Had to find this after watching The Perfect Bid.
This one gets stuck in my head a lot! I find myself whistling it or humming it to myself.
Me too i wish that song coming back in new shows of the Price is right i hope they will do to a homage to Bob Barker passing
The last year of Jack Narz's "Concentration" used this as a prize cue at the Double Play round.

Awesome mint version of this cue. This sounds enormously better than the current 1976 package out there. You OWN all of these.
I like to play some of these tracks in the car as Im pulling into the casino lol
I remember this theme building up to a new car at the end (usually with Janice presenting it).

Thank you, Dan! These are wonderful!
This could have easily been the Family Feud theme, there's similarities in the sound in parts. Same year 1976. Glad they used the other one.
This cue was used for showcases, Take Two, Race Game, and Superball prize reveals.
And the retired game, Super Ball.
Show case showdown, remember Jonny or Rod playing dress up and acting in it ?
I miss these in the new current Price Is Right now hosted by Drew Carry.
It's 1979 and I'm home from school with the flu in front of the TV with a bowl of tomato soup and a box of Kleenex

❤ One of my favorite cues ever. Too bad Drew Carey can't bring them.
Danger Price

Lalo Schifrin vibes over here.
"Enter the Dragon.."
This cue was also from "Concentration '73-'78".

My favorite showcase music
A wonderful array of prizes!
Yes, I do.

so fantastic!
This is a Super Ball prize package valued at $9,613.
It reminds me of Star Wars
Bravo Dan. Lalo's got nothin' on you.
Spider-man vs. Venom.
The worst car ever made...the 1986 Chevy Cavalier....all yours if the price is right!
Ugh. We had an '84 Cavalier. The very definition of the word LEMON.
Snow and Ice lol
The Chevy Vega was MUCH worse. Also the AMC Pacer, Ford Pinto and the YUGO!!!!
With California emmissions...
The 70’s and 80’s were really bad decades for cars
does drew carrey has used that theme?? until which year that theme was used i would like to heard this in new emission of price is right
This variation was usually played for multi-prize games.
