  • ON OFF Control is works great in many applications and it is important that we understand it when deciding whether or not you need PID control.

    Can you do a video series on setup/tuning differences between the AB Micrologix, CompactLogix, and ControlLogix series? How do they differ? How are they the same? (Forgive me if you have already done this.) And thanks again for all your training videos. Fantastic job.

      It will be in this series, stay tuned!

    Hi Tim, What is the sensor model that you use to detect the ball?

    Maybe some thoughts on OTL / OTU instructions vs seal in contact logic. Do you prefer one over there other if so why?

    You touched on EU units for HMI controlling an analog output @ roughly 6:30. Can you PLEASE do a video showing the actual instruction programming that and how to physically do it. Thank you!

    Where do I find the video about the compute instruction you mentioned @ 3:35? I must be missing it because I cant find it.

      We had to move some things around scheduling videos so part of this series ended up coming out before I was done with the analog series. It will be a few weeks :)

    I know its not PID, but how would one write a code in logic to see how much fluid has been used by using a flow meter?

    • @TimWilborne
      @TimWilborne  Před 4 lety +1

      Check out some of our High Speed Counter videos. You would do that except instead of configuring it for an encoder, you would configure it for an up counter.

    Tim,
    Can you still get raw values like you have if the module comes scaled? Like with a 1756-IF16 module?

    • @TimWilborne
      @TimWilborne  Před 3 lety +2

      I guess you could scale the module for the raw values but what are you hoping to gain? The scaled value is floating point and is as accurate as the raw value.

      @@TimWilborne Thanks Tim! Does the PIDE instruction needs the raw value to work properly? I'm hoping to be able to setup the PIDE instruction properly.
      Also great videos!!

      @TimWilborne  Před 3 lety +1

      No you can use your scaled units in the PIDE in Studio 5000 and that's what I would recommend. I just put a video out on that. See link below.

    HI, Tim. Can I code ON OFF control with a LES and a GRT ,and use an OTL and an OTU respectively ? Thank you very much,

    • @TimWilborne
      @TimWilborne  Před 4 lety +1

      Sure you can but if you have wanted many of my videos then you know I wouldn't get excited about it. Why do you want to use the latch and unlatch?

    • @dennisjiu1771
      @dennisjiu1771 Před 4 lety +1

      Haha, I checked "How Power Up Affects an OTE vs an OTL/OTU in an Allen Bradley Micrologix PLC." again. I think you avoid to use the OTL and OTU here because they have a pre scan problem in case of Power up? Am I correct?

    • @TimWilborne
      @TimWilborne  Před 4 lety +1

      @@dennisjiu1771 Not completely. I think the main thing is make sure you aren't using the OTL and OTU to do this because you can't make it work with the OTE. As long as you can, there is nothing wrong with it I guess.
