  • In this Video, we travel to South Dakota to pick up a 1975 GMC Gentleman Jim Edition Sierra Classic that’s been in Junkyard Puratory since 1985 ( my entire life) and go over what survived to today. Our plan is to save what will make my truck better with original Gent. Jim parts and contemplate its future as a possible Gasser short box. With only around a 1000 of this variety made in 1975, and the fact they were the first factory “Luxury” truck, its little wonder why this truck needed saved.

My mom bought me a factory 454 Beau James from an old man for two grand. He swapped it to a 350 though. Thinking about fixing it up one day and driving it.

Now those generation GMC fullsize pickups with that limited edition Gentleman Jim package are super duper rare nowadays.

My grandad had one of these. Bought new in 1975. I loved that thing. Wish I still had it today.

I think that the "Beau James" was a little bit more money than the "Gentleman Jim". Correct?

I don’t believe so, the Gentleman Jim had higher options unless you ordered a 454 in the Beau James, which you couldn’t get on a Gent Jim

If possible just try to get it put back together as it was from the factory. Don’t make it a drag truck & don’t make it a short bed.

Is this one really worth the effort saving it? It needs an enormous amount of parts and body work.

Probably and probably not. It’s already contributed several excellent near impossible to find parts to my complete Gentleman Jim and in that, has served its purpose.

I come up with a pair of gentleman jim doors. They are not pretty, but are Original doors, both straight but would need new lower metal work. I'm in Central Illinois.

That's a rare bird you never find them like that. Most of the time the grille is mostly gone.
