In March of 2018 I was exploring the Mount of Olives. At a viewpoint across from the Old City, I noticed a Jewish funeral taking place only a short distance away from where I was standing. However, my ears were drawn to a song I heard being played by two members of an American worship team not far from where I was. They were playing Hosanna (Praise is Rising). With only an acoustic guitar and their amazing voices, they entered into a powerful time of praise and worship. I felt the presence of the Lord. He clearly does inhabit the praises of HIs people. This song is so anointed. This was one of my highlights touring Jerusalem.
This is such a good mix! Just shared it with the audio techs at our church. All the instruments were in balance in the mix, and the spectral frequencies were optimal. The hi-hat and cymbals sounded super clean (EQ boots to the high-mids and highs; taper lows). The crash cymbals were loud enough, but not in your face. The snare sounds like it has a decent rate of compression, medium attack, and moderate release. The snare also sounds like the EQ boosts more of the lows and mids, and cuts the highs. That's a really good sounding snare. The rack and floor toms also have a lot of boom and reverb behind them. And the bass drum has a strong attack. Good sonic texture balance between the pads/organ, bass guitar, and electric, too. There's no competing for frequencies. If I were recording an album, this is exactly how I would want it to sound! Thank you guys for your ministry!
Yup this is definitely the sound of a very experienced MIX personnel, one who also has been working with this band for a very long time, attuning themselves as part of the team, the EQ matches exactly to the song making this song just a wonder to behold

His pre-production details really help. **He will ask for tuning and muffling adjustments... as well as approach to playing the drums. :-) "Carl, don't hit the cymbals too hard." LOL // You're hearing the live tracks with the addition of a drum loop I use (Metamorphosis/ Spectrasonics) and a tambourine I played in the loop later. Pretty amazing for a live cut. Agreed! This mix is actually alot better than the album mix. You can actually dissect the guitar parts where the album version is mixed in a way that the guitars are drowned out.
I read mix breakdowns better than I read sheet music 😅 The release on the bass compression and the drum compressor bus seem to match up really well. The release seems to fall right into the attack on the 4/4. Super tight.
