I saw it twice. I never imagined that the fault was that. A sobering video (of course it activates a thumbs up for what you always mention before saying goodbye by waving your hand twice). Thanks for sharing. All the best.
I wanted to tell you that I think you would be really good at replacing damaged LGA 1200 / LGA 1700 sockets. you can obtain cheap replacement sockets (preballed) from many sources. it is a simple BGA soldering job. Many people sell their damaged motherboards for cheap because they bent too many pins or broken them and don't know how to replace these. You could pick up broken socket motherboards for cheap then replace the LGA Socket and re sell for going rate. Could be a potential prospect as I am sure your expertise is well within this area.
Short on that 1v8 volt line causes a 1 sec BLOD on an otherwise working board, so you should see the blue light come on and then back off. You don't, so I suspect something else is still wrong. No point in investigating though. Great video as always, still helpful and educational though!!! Thx!!
I'm not sure. I think the shorted APU was the original problem and all of the other problems were caused by the repair shop. That's just a guess though.
Great video. I seem to be having a very similar issue with my ps5. It beeps but does not light up and turn on, however weirdly enough if i leave it alone for a few days then and attempt to plug it in and turn it on, it actually turns on without me pressing the button but just because i connected the power supply cable. After that if i turn it off thats it, it jusr beeps and wont turn on anymore. Please can you help me with some advice. I also im certain the issues arised after the software update which enabled the dualsense to update wirelessly. Since that update my controllers stopped working.
Excellent video as always! Maybe check the southbridge since it's been messed with or even try UART, might point you in the right direction? I'm a big believer of non destructive tests first.
Thank you for the video. What stencils do you use, can you provide URLs for them, please? And what size of solder balls as well, please? I mean for the SSD controller and the southbridge?
How often do you run into issues with the SSD controller? I have watched a few of your videos and it seems to be prevalent. I have run into about 6 different PS5s that present these same symptoms and didnt want to try replacing the controller without some hard tests that would show that it is faulty.
I'm hearing the SSD controller is becoming a major issue across many tech channels, I think Booter and Cod3r were talking about it the other day on a livestream on livechat.
Certainly not "uncommon" but at this point there are many millions of PS5's in the wild. Faulty SSD controllers being a large percentage of the consoles with faults doesn't mean it's necessarily a large problem for the PS5 system design overall.
I just had my PS5 put the repair shop and then tell me that my mother was bad but it didn't power it's beeping and the lights coming on but it turns right I feel like it's not the motherboard for the power supply cuz they tried a new power supply still beeps and light turns on the power off
Hey m8, bwe has some tools that diagnose hardware issues. The ps4 tools arnt worth the cost, but you will find some value going forward with the ps5 tools. Perhaps it might give you a more definitive answer regarding the apu. Have a chat with steaveBe, tell him his "grandson" sent ya 😂
I have the BwE tools for PS4 and PS5 including the PS5 UART reader. It has not been extremely useful as of yet. I'm very familiar with Steve Be. We speak every other day.
Unusual fail for you (more about your success rate/skill and this a dead APU which can't be helped). Strange it would attempt to boot and then not at all with low boot voltage.
Nice video as usual. A question: have you checked the point that was shorted right next to the SSD controller, after the console beep on beep off incident? Tks in advance.
Personally if I was selling a broken PS5 I would describe that as it doesn’t power up. When you’re not savvy to the terms used in this community that looks exactly like what it is. You push the power button and it doesn’t turn on, no lights. But it being a repair shop…
Yeah. You either have a situation where they don't know how to properly describe the situation or they use creative wording to give the dead console a better chance at selling. Even if they didn't know the APU was shot, no power is a bit misleading on purpose for someone hoping they can just swap in a power supply and have a working PS5.
You said it suprise surprise yet another junk box ps5 bag of crap Myself and everyone I know have had two ps5s self destruct within a single week of the warranty running out .. My second ps5 died two days after warranty ended and the piece of shit probably on had a few hours on the clock bag of shit every single one of them.
The bench supply beeping like it's measuring the vitals of the APU, makes its death so much more visceral. Great filmmaking!
He's dead Jim!
Yay! He's back!
Very Educational and Entertaining as always. Thanks for sharing your knowledge.
Sorry. My main job has kept be pretty busy lately. Thanks for watching!

Glad you're showing *all of the sides* of being a repair tech. People dont realize theres this very unprofitable side.
It's certainly not all 100% repair and pure profit.
Very true!
I had the same cap shorted. Thank you for this video! Now I'm sure that APU is dead and there is no point to diagnose this motherboard further.
I missed this video completely, good work as always.
Oh. Well thanks for coming back for it!
As always, appreciate the time you took to make this video. Sorry it didn't have a
better ending but, c'est la vie. Thanks...
Thank you for taking the time to watch and comment! We'll fix the next one!
Well, you repair most of them. Great Repair Attempt, and Video! Thank You.
I do try hard to repair all of them. I can't fix a dead APU. Thanks for the visit!
Too bad for this one, you went close!
Amazing timing on this video .i JUST got a console with this exact issue and you went right to the exact spot i had to..🤯👍
Maybe it's a common failure. If you have a short there you can check some of the capacitors on the trace but it's not very hopeful. Best of luck!
Very cool channel! I bet it will grow real fast, you are in the right time in the right place ^^
Thank you! I have been very surprised by the growth so far. Thanks for the visit!
this is very informative I will always appreciate this content on this channel thank you Sir!👌
Thanks so much!
Good troubleshooting procedure, not all are salvageable.
Thanks! At least there are salvageable parts.

Hmmm. I never thought of that. Interesting.
Check under the seal on top of the apu for spilled liquid metal.
I did. No liquid metal.
Been a long time, glad to see you back. Would it make sense to check on top of the APU for liquid metal spill?
I checked. No liquid metal around the top.

Oh there was definitely another problem but pointless to chase it after finding the APU short. Thanks for watching!
thanks for sharing 👍👍👍👍
Thanks for visiting!!!
Thanx master ❤️🇹🇷
You are very welcome! Thanks for watching!
Can’t save them all, interesting one. At one point I was sure she’s was going to work. What do you think happened?
I'm not sure. I think the shorted APU was the original problem and all of the other problems were caused by the repair shop. That's just a guess though.
Great video. What are the 2 tools your using to re apply the solder mask? Thanks
Needles that have mounted on the end of a couple of plastic handles.
Great video.

Look it's dead. We can have a ceremony if you like but still dead. I may be drinking as I type this.
Thank you for the video. What stencils do you use, can you provide URLs for them, please? And what size of solder balls as well, please? I mean for the SSD controller and the southbridge?
Our cheap stencils are rubbish to be true and I'm looking for better ones either for a paste, or balls.
Bummer. Don’t you hate dishonest eBayers.
Aren't all eBay sellers dishonest? It's sad when you are surprised that a seller is accurate with their description.
Well that was a happy ending 😢
Just curious Wonder if liquid metal got underneath the APU Flood with alcohol and air compressor
I went back and tried that this morning. No joy. No matter what I do, 0.30 ohm short to ground on than rail.
@@ToltecMerc Okay good to know
Well i was wondering when you will come out with a new vid 🤤
Yep. It was time. Thanks for watching and commenting!

Is it posible to replace APU? Maybe you can try to reball same APU.
The APU will be married to other chips on the board as well as information stored on the SSD.
i have same short line 0.6 ohm . start current go s up to 290 m amps fall back to 0.07 mAmps i got 1 beep 2 seconds blue light
It does not sound promising. I'm sorry!
This exactly the same problem I have with my ps5, haven’t tried to fix it yet
Beep with no lights can be many things, unfortunately.
The hdmi chip has a hole in it. Looks like it might have let out the smoke.
I just checked. No hole. It looks perfect.
👍👍👍
Thanks for the visit!
yes new vid ps5
More on the way!

I'm sure there were multiple problems with this one but when I found that short on the APU it didn't make sense to go any further.

Yeah. You either have a situation where they don't know how to properly describe the situation or they use creative wording to give the dead console a better chance at selling.

I think the writing is a butchered "beep"
A definite possibility! Wish I had noticed the seller was a repair shop.
