- There are three plaintiffs. They bought a car from the defendant and they say the car had major issues when they received it. They took it to a mechanic, who told them there was no emergency brake and a broken spark plug. They’re suing for a refund, car repairs, locksmith costs, and car parts. The defendant argues the plaintiffs never paid in full for the car. He’s countersuing for balance owed, repossession costs, and slander.

Buying a car is exactly like buying a house. The keyword is INSPECTION before doing anything else.
That woman is disgusting. After the judge explained exactly why she is wrong and not only she won't get any money, she won't get a car for free and she will have to pay the rest money she owes, she goes out of the court and lets us know the judge is wrong. What an entitled stubborn person.
Also a liar because she called him her "stepson" when he was just her girlfriend's son. If a person can't be honest in clarifying relationships, they're going to dishonest about everything else.

I agree 100%! that woman had/has no common sense whatsoever! She spends $300 to re-key $1000 car/ignition instead of paying down her debt to the defendant?!? I’m surprised JM told her over and over that she thought it was wise for her to do that… I don’t think it was wise at all and I don’t think JM meant a word she was saying.

Another case where someone buys a old used car for cheap and expects it to run brand new. It’s like trying to return stuff you bought from a thrift store.

I am so tired of these idiots who come to the court wanting help when they made zero effort to protect themselves. Seriously, you buy a car for $1,500 but won't pay $100 to have someone check it out! All this lady had to do was a single google search and she would have figured out she had no case.
And those OLD Ford Tauruses are actually reliable as hell but when you sell a cheap old car to somebody who doesn't know shit about cars and is likely gullible and gets ripped off on repairs/labor rates making them think the car is a lemon it'll almost always bite you in the ass.
She had a lot of gall suing when she still owed on the car. And I can't BELIEVE he paid the taxes on their car. That's RIDICULOUS!

I feel bad for the young man. It's unfortunate he doesn't have better examples(at least regarding the purchase of his first vehicle) for life lessons. I hope it worked out for him in the end.

Most people believe they should be able to trust family and someone they know. I bought my first car from my aunt. After a few days I heard a clunking sound and when I took it to get looked at they discovered a broken cross member held together with a coat hanger. This was my own aunt. I could have been killed and her response was, a deal is a deal.

I had $1000 car and it lasted me 7 years. Engine was still going but couldn't find old body parts anymore so then gave it away.

Whenever you buy a used car just have extra money put to the side, If you can't afford to buy a brand new car. Sometimes, you have to put some money into the car to make it work for you. If you buy a used car with absolutely no repair issues, consider yourself lucky and you bought a gem.

When you buy/sell a used car, it should just be agreed on that the sale is as-is.. So its up to the buyer on if they want to gamble on the car..
Used car sales are always sold as is unless specified otherwise. It’s the same for almost all used goods
Unless you offer a warranty or can prove fraud ( ex. New engine was just put in & a mechanic says no, it’s the original engine & the vin to it is the same). Every car is an ‘as is’ sale. So regardless if the bill of sale says ‘as is’ or a handshake, it’s all as is.

I don't know why he'd let people have the car before they paid the full amount. I've seen way too many cases like that. If you DO that, at least get it in writing that you can reposess the car (that they sign) if they don't pay the rest by a certain date, and put a lien on the title (so they can't sell it).
