  • Went warmouth fishing today, June 45h, 2019. I'm finally catching good eating size warmouth regularly. We drained the lake in 2016, and apparently a huge crop of baby warmouth hatched in it from wild fish while it was drained. There was a creek running through the lake and a bowl of mud next to the dam. Apparently that's all the warmouth needed. We dis not discover the fish until the summer of 2017 after we had stocked it. The little warmouth ate all the baby bass we put in.
In Winter and Spring of 2018 we put in 80 adult bass. Since them the warmouth populations seems to have gone down a lot. I know that the bass ate a lot of them. But it seems hard to imagine so few bass eating so many warmouth in one year. I now have started catching the bigger ones probably on account of it being spawning season. At the moment I think there are still a fair number of the older fish in the lake. It's just that they have gotten smarter and harder to catch. At least I hope that's the case. I had two about the size of the one in the video for dinner this evening. They are a good eating fish. God bless.
