While visiting the Nor-Tech Factory got to check off a Bucketlist Item. This Roadster has twin Turbine engines and is an absolute monster to experience!!!
These big turbine boats' sterns look great!! Does NT put canopies on them? I've not seen a canopied 50 that I can recall. I HAVE, however seen several turbine 47s with canopies. These boats run 180-200+mph. I would mosdef have a race-style canopy on mine.
What’s the throttle response going over head on swell. Are turbines able to throttle back over swells and get back into the power band simulate to piston engines? If not how much lag is there and would that prevent running consistently over rough water 3 to 5s with short period. Reason I ask is because I’ve been considering turbines for some time just don’t have enough knowledge as to how they get back on the power.
@@Bluewatertravler Yes I’ve seen turbine boats racing GEICO etc. A good friend that races boats told me the downfall of turbines was the throttle response. So wasn’t sure if that was really an issue. Does this burn regular 91 octane gas or kerosine? I live on Huntington Harbor in California. I know your boat is for sale and I’ve been looking to upgrade. Is there any issue with noise levels ideling out? I’m thinking to come and check it out. How many hours until a rebuild is needed?
Not at all a dumb question. These are turboshaft engines. Helicopter engines in fact. The GE T-58 is a common one used about 1250 hp and there is a Lycoming one about twice that size that I wouldn't be surprised is what they are using here. But they all turn a driveshaft. So a stern drive, a surface drive (quite cool) or a jet drive (water jet) are your choices. Those big exhausts look like they could be nozzles like on a turbojet but they dont produce significant thrust. I might sound dumb now but I would guess stern drives at a first glance. The boat isn't fitted out as a full on race boat - it has creature comforts - and the stern drive would be the best of the three when it comes to docking your really expensive boat without a racing team. Surface drive would be fastest. Not sure what advantage or lack of a jet drive might have.
@@spiderbass4hire474 thanks for all the info! Ive seen the lady liisa in person shes got diesel but huge surface drives its a 80ft nortech in the longboat key Sarasota area few vids on youtube as well
Turbines , if you can handle the noise would seem to be more reliable than a piston engine , the gear drive taking most of the punishment , would I be correct ?
+Bluewater Traveler : I Did Not Know That Nor Tech Powerboats Had T-53 Turbine Engines in Their Boats, Because I Only Thought T-53 Turbine Engines Were in Offshore Racing Boats 🚤
What an ABSOLUTE BEAUTIFUL BEAST of a boat.

Might be dumb question but does it have any drive or prop in water or just the thrust from the engine pushes it?
