Whats even crazier is that Mahomes went to the sideline before the 3rd and 15 and asked to run Wasp. So not only is he insanely talented, he had the football IQ and smarts to call the play that worked. Impressive

What's really crazy about this play is that Mahomes conservatively threw that ball 56 yards to the front of that open zone. He said in an interview that he underthrew it. If he put 15 more yards in the throw, it would have been an easy touchdown.

How about Frank Reich and the Bills coming back against Houston in 1993? Then there was the gem with Payton Manning scoring 3 times in 4 minutes against Tampa in 2003. Two things you missed with the first play. 1. Patty had no check down - it wasn't even an option or something that crossed his mind. He made the throw to Tyreek before Tyreek even hit the break. It's inconceivable that someone would make a break that far down field, that a QB could make that big of a throw off his back foot, and do all of that against the best pass rushing D in the league. That throw wasn't improbable, it was impossible for 31 other teams in the NFL to make. 2. There is not today nor has there ever been a defense that can cover forty yards of open field when you've got WRs running sub 4.4s and a cannon taking the snap. Unless that pass rush can get there to break things up, if the play goes beyond 3-4 seconds, you're going to have a problem down field.
That was absolutely fantastic analysis. NBC needs to listen up, if you can get Chris Simms and Tony Romo in the same room doings analysis like this of big games, you would have the biggest hitting NFL segment of all time.

But I will say he surprised me with having the guts to play to win by going for it on 4th down twice as opposed to playing scared. I also think if the game plan would have been put on Mahomes back in the first half instead of trying to run too often ( especially outside which is the strength of 49ers speed side line to side line) we would have saw 21 to 0 runs earlier than just the last 7 minutes in the game. Great breakdown fellas. Chiefs' FB #42, Anthony known here in KC as "The Sausage" put on a nice block to break Williams. Overheard right after the game by local radio reporter was Williams explaining that he mighta cut back but Sherman told him coming out of the huddle, "Follow me." Seemed legit to me.

Did I miss where you actually saw Mahomes had asked for Wasp?! That play was called for by Mahomes. Hill was exactly where he was supposed to be. He only breaks outside once the safety turns to run with him and he catches the safety off guard and runs out instead of continuing to run in. That play is called Wasp and Mahomes asked to run it but it takes over four seconds to get Hill open. So Mahomes dropped 14 yards to have enough time to throw it where Hill would be, not where he was. That's a Franchise QB, not a good QB. That's Brady sh!t.

Great segment Chris. Stuff I haven’t seen or heard. I kinda thought the long pass to Tyreek was a broken play. You’re right about Reid attacking the rules, but the play took so long, I guess I haven’t seen any designed plays of that nature (course this is Any Reid!).Thing I’ve noticed about Hill, IMO he’s next smartest football savvy player on the team next to Mahomes. A broken play? Your analysis is brilliant and makes sense. But plays that take that long to develop are usually improvised.

Who cares whether Brady and Patriots erased a bigger deficit against Atlanta...or the Frank Reich comeback many years ago? NO TEAM in history has erased a 24-0, and two 10 point deficits in 3 consecutive playoff games to win the SB! Chiefs 2019 team - LEGENDARY on both offence and D. What neither the vaunted Patriots D nor the always tough Ravens D could do (stop Derrick Henry), the Chiefs D DID! After what Raheem Mostert did to Green Bay, guess what? Chiefs D stopped him as well. As for # 15, what more really can be or needs to be said? Greatest QB when it comes to all- around talent ever. He’s Favre, Staubach, Rogers, Montana, Young and Wilson all wrapped up in one total package. How bout those CHIIEEEFFFFSSSS!

I listened to Skip Bayless call the 3rd and 15 a luck play and no matter what Shannon Sharpe tried to counter he wasn't having it. Mahomes dropped back about 11 yards deep with pressure coming and off his back foot he just had to have the arm strength to pop it out there. It's not an accurracy thing but a strength thing since it's a voided area no one could of hit in that position. I feel for the defender who immediately starts taking the blame. Sometimes it's great defense that stops great offense and sometimes it's the opposite. Love the analysis of this play.
