      +Youtique Bridal I was in the process of making this today, but the way you folded the tulle is really confusing. You say first take your yard of tulle and fold it in half, but at that point it is already folded in half, so you hold it in half again, which makes it look like it was folded in half twice and longer than a yard. I cut out a yard of my tulle, but it doesn't look as long as yours, Can you please clarify?

    • @youtiquebridal
      @youtiquebridal  Před 8 lety

      +Becky Janelle Greetings Becky! When the tulle is purchased, it is normally folded in half along the width. The tulle will be cut to the one yard along the length of the veil. At 0:31 sec of the tutorial, you will fold in half along the length (it should already be folded in half along the width). I hope that makes sense....if not, let me know.

    This video is so helpful! Thank you! Kind of a silly, newbie question here... Let's say I wanted to double the size of the veil. So would I need to use two yards of tulle, 6 yards of lace, and double the pivot point (to 36 inches) before cutting the tulle?

    • @youtiquebridal
      @youtiquebridal  Před 7 lety +3

      No question is silly. We are here to learn & help each other. Thanks for visiting the channel! Here is a tutorial that may be more helpful for you. It gets a little more technical: czcams.com/video/x0gy7Gp86NA/video.html
      Also, make note of the tulle width you will need. If you double the measurement that I used, you will need the 72" width tulle. I used the 54" width tulle in this tutorial. Another bride asked a similar question, you can watch this video at {2:47} : czcams.com/video/NYlFsljF0VM/video.html

    Do you have any advice for placing a comb on a cathedral length mantilla veil that I want to cover my face? it will then be folded back once I get to the alter. Can I sew the comb directly on the tulle in the center? My hair will be down so I can't do the pins in the bun like you showed in the video.

    • @youtiquebridal
      @youtiquebridal  Před 8 lety +1

      +Jessica M Greetings! Sorry I almost overlooked your question. I hope it's not too late to answer. Just to make sure I understand your question, are you looking at a drop cathedral length veil where it covers your face without fullness, then to fold back at the alter? When you mentioned mantilla veil, that veil frames your face and necessarily covers it.

    • @youtiquebridal
      @youtiquebridal  Před 8 lety

      +ayanezhn12 great question! I may work on a tutorial some time in the future. For now, you can watch the following tutorial: czcams.com/video/5vd9wzzY-gs/video.html
      Starting at 1:34 in the linked tutorial, get the length of the Cathedral veil you want, watch from 1:34 to 1:53 for the length and cutting the curve. Then you can start sewing on the lace. I realize this is just a brief explanation, but I hope it can help in some way. As mentioned, I may create a tutorial once time permits. Thanks for watching!

    hi there, as u said in the video, there will be gaps while im laying the lace and what u did was just snip off and readjust the lace to lay flat on the fabric. I'm currently doing a project that scallop lace hem the edge of a curve, and the height of my lace is around 7", whenever i reach the curve part, a lot just gather up and i have to snip off a lot (some parts i mighy have to snips until the end of the lace) for the lace to lay flat, but that would ultimately modify the pattern of the scallop lace. ps. im using Chantilly lace for the whole dress and i cut out the scallop edge from the same lace fabric to line the end of the dress for scallop hem. I really have no idea what i should do, should i snip out the whole lace at that particular part and sew it as a piece instead of continuously like a lace trim in ur video? i hope u understand what I'm saying and i could really use some help here. Thank you :)

    • @youtiquebridal
      @youtiquebridal  Před 6 lety

      Did you get to complete? Your lace sounds beautiful. It is hard to explain, visual is always better but I'll try my best. 7" is a wider lace and you would have to do more trimming than you would with a thinner width lace. Depending on how steep the curve is, you may have to do more cutting and piecing of lace pieces.

    Is it possible to make a lace trim veil that works as both a drop veil and mantilla. I would love drop veil for walking down the aisle but the more mantilla look for wedding photos.

    • @youtiquebridal
      @youtiquebridal  Před rokem

      Great question! You can by sewing a hair comb attachment mechanism at 2 different locations. One at the front edge for the mantilla. The second one would be at the location where you want the drop veil to be placed. The only challenge you may encounter is the visibility of the drop veil attachment loops/velcro.

      @youtiquebridal  Před 5 lety

      Tulle width measurements come in 54", 72" 108". If the measurement you like is shorter than 54", I recommend purchasing the 54" width tulle. If it is between 54-72", purchase the 72", etc. I hope that helps. If you have any other questions, please do not hesitate to ask.

    I'm halfway making this veil and I wondered do you have to use invisible thread? And is it the same as using fishing thread/jewellery thread?

    • @youtiquebridal
      @youtiquebridal  Před 4 lety +1

      Thank you for your inquiry. It is not the same as fishing or jewelry thread. You can find it in the sewing thread section of your local fabric & craft shop. There is a brand called "Coats" and it is a transparent nylon. You can also find the "Sulky" Brand and that is 100% Polyester. You can also use a thread that matches the lace exactly. I hope that helps. Thank you for watching!

      @@youtiquebridal thank you, I managed to get the transparent thread but I notice it gets quite twisted and knotted.

    I have some chantilly lace from my 64 year old wedding dress. My grandaughter would like me to magically incorporate it into a veil. There is not enough for a full veil but maybe I could use it as a layer. It has gone slightly yellow but still looks lovely. Any suggestions please. I am not "crafry"

      Do you have a picture? It would be hard for me to suggest since I don't know how it looks or the size. Sounds like you may have enough to incorporate into a ring bearer pillow, embellish a bridal sash, hair fascinator, wrap around the flower bouquet stem...hope that can give you some inspiration:)

    I've purchased 2 yards of material. Would I be able to utilize the 2 yard for this same drop look?

      +Natalie Oliver Thank you for your inquiry. You sure can. Did you want this exact sizing as in the tutorial or did you want to utilize the whole 2 yards of the tulle you purchased?

      Thank you for your inquiry. I have seen it done in glue, however, I like the quality of the hand sewing results. It would be up to you.
