15 years of paint and body and i STILL get that heart pounding lol. i always tell people, if you lose that, you just don't care anymore
I'm on my 3rd yr paint an I still get nervous at times as well
I'm at 25 years and same here. Get nervous and start sweating a little
I wish I could find a quality paint shop in my area. I have a 2005 Mustang that I would like to have repainted. Last shop quoted me $20k to do it and that's just painting the outside not the engine bay or inside the trunk kid or even in the door jams! I said to myself as I left the appointment "At that price I will just go buy all the equipment and learn to do it myself."
Go join a a paint course at local college and use your car as the practice car for the class then you learn and get a free spray job.😂 that's what we did during our paint course.
What's your area?
Great job. I like that while editing the video you showed actual speed and sped up to reflect how it looks in real time
Yes. Thats very important for people to see. Great catch.
Nice to see some pearl white! And the unmasking was nice to see as well with all the small tips to have a nice finish, thanks!
I always get a little nervous when it’s time for clear coat. I thought it was just me.
In several of your videos you mention triggering the gun. Could you give us newbies the where when and how?
I have learned by you much more
Thanks for the great video as always..
Great job teaching.Guys this is the man you want to learn from.
Now the body man has to put all those parts back on. I did that for years and never liked it.
Nice job Brian. Kandy Man would be proud. The final product looks sweet. Enjoy your evening.
Good work Brian! Gotta love white🫣
Good for body work. Bad for painting lol
When you touch the panel you are adding static back in.. so if you read the details on that stat gun it will tell you to do that very last and don’t touch the vehicle at all while stat gunning. Also blowing air adds static back in so they recommends using the stat gun between all coats.. just a heads up
Great tips!
Great job brain .. I wish you the best 🌹
Right now I am doing a single stage Omni MTK Summit White paint job on my truck. I was told by a number of well seasoned painters that it was a junk product. I was able to talk to someone at a pretty big automotive PPG store (nothing like Oriely's) and he said that I have a fairly good product being a MTK acrylic urethane with hardener but to take into mind that it is better suited to flat solid color fleet paint jobs which is fine with me since that is the factory color and style of paint paint jobs on my GMC Sonoma. But I was told that for a good adhesion to use a Deltron NXT sealer (mine being the DAS3025 variant for a lighter grey). So far I have learned a lot from the gentleman in these videos myself doing my first job. I really think that maybe if you want that would be very informative if you did a video or two talking about two stage vs single stage and maybe go over water base in the mix for us hobbyists learning. Also cheap vs expensive product like $500+ a gallon vs $800+ a quart. Also why some painters are telling me to basically go with a high dollar two stage range of products for it to last past two or three years.
800 a quart! Never thought paint was that high. I don’t paint just enjoy learning.
We had major hail storm this spring, unfortunately almost every job lately has been a complete. Not fun!
Good working sir
You’re the best! Keep it up Brian!
My heart skipped a beat when you took the sandpaper to the door edge, Sheww, try your rough cut rubbing compound on a microfiber by hand on the next one
Sandpaper? Thats the cardboard trick. Give it a try
piece of cardboard
@@PaintSocietyehh, haven’t seen that before, I apologize. I’ll give it a try next time
Nice, great video and amazing job. I didn't paint a car for more than 8 years. Just bought "Halo white" from toyota today to do some testing. Kinda same type of color ish. Base with second layer of pearl. Can't wait to paint my car in july. Will be ordering the Astro paint gun for this job. Keep up with the amazing work. 👍🏼👍🏼
Great video keep it up brother
Clearcoat, the part of the job I hate the most 😭
for me i love it but scares me
@@yohalmobarrera1849 My heart definitely gets to beating fast 😭
Great work I really struggle with white blindness in fact I hate painting white !
Pearl white is my least favourite colour to paint.
GREAT VIDEOS Your an awesome teacher. Have have tried the Harbor Freight guns and ready to bump up to the next level. Please recommend a quality hvlp that meets that need that is a reasonable price for dyi auto paint work. 4:27 4:29 4:33
SALUDOS BRIAN GRAN TRABAJO COMO SIEMPRE GRACIAS POR TUS TIPS 👍👍👍👏👏👏
I really enjoy your videos. I watch them all the time. I wish you were near me. I would have you paint my DeSoto.
Hey I paint boats but I want to move to cars. I only do boats because it’s what was available in my town. Going to be moving to a bigger city with lots of shops. What advice would you give someone who is young with on the job training wanting to move to cars?
Don't do it lol.if cars make you happy, then go for it. Hopefully, you can find a good internship, but it can be tough at times depending on where you go. I had a nightmare of an internship. If you find a guy like this to teach you then you're set. I was told why would I teach you to take half of my pay.
@@theirishman088 I don’t make nearly enough for the amount of work it takes to paint a 30’ offshore boat and I don’t even care about boats. I like cars. I’m confident in my ability and there’s tons of shops where I plan to move so if I don’t like it I can leave. Plan is to start out in prep and learn what’s needed to do cars vs boats then find a place looking for a painter.
@nickcrill7718 if you can paint a boat you can paint a car. Im not trying to be negative only honest. Finding a good dealer is tough. Just make sure youre looking out for you in the end. Ive been in dealers for over 20 years and i promise you they are everything they are talked about. Dont be surprised if youre painting an entire car for next to nothing. I was painting cars for 16 an hour while the actual painter was taking all the commission. Lets just say i had a bad experience and so did the 20 others before me lol. Again bad ownership
You're probably working outside right? If you don't mind it or like it even... be a mobile pain't tech. There are challenges you'd never face in a shop but you can make a killing if you're good. If you get that experience under your belt and decide to go back to a shop, you'll be on easy street. Nobody cutting grass 20 ft upwind, no wind gusts, no unexpected bird poop or bugs.
@@kingsway731 i was at a dealer for 12 years and booted for a guy that cuts corners and uses half the amount of paint required because it saves the company money.. They chose that over quality.
Mobile paint is a decent way to start and they give you lots of training. The only down side is they don't use actual spray guns they use like wagner electric sprayers from what I was told. If it's what you want to do all I can say is jump in and learn as much as you can. You'll know if it's for you after a little while.
Lotta shinny paint on the back edge of the hood
Yea i sanded that after that shot and before base. I noticed the same thing lol
great job is there a part one to this
Been watching for a while and find your videos very informative.
My wife’s 10 yr old MDX with pearl white paint has had the roof repainted about 5 years ago due to it peeling down to the primer. Acura paid to have it done but they repainted it with inferior paint and it’s cracking and faded. Other areas of the car have now started to blister and peel and I’m considering spraying it myself but not sure if I should just sand down the areas that are blistered and peeling or if I should strip the entire car and respray the whole exterior.
What do you normally do when you get a car with failing paint due to adhesion issues?
Thanks, and keep it up with the videos. Congrats on #2.
Instead of taping my hose I usually get a red pad with thinner and clean 5 feet of it.
I used to do that but realized that it was dry rotting it. Water based cleaner will do fine, although not leave it looking as new
I'm working on a PPSW pearl white on a Tesla. What do you Normally run your base, mid, clear psi at and tips? For a pearl job!
Love the channel. Has helped so much. But I was wandering. If you had to pick one gun for base. Solids -metallics and pearls. Out of the iwatas. Dv1’s. Sagola. Satas. Price not an issue. What do you think is the best overall
Thank you, nice video
Nice tips and tricks again Brian. One can learn a lot from Your advices. Once U recon the same gun for base and clear. Do U think one genesi carbonio can handle both? I think it can, if U use the base needle, tip and aircap for base and then the clear set for the clear. Any suggestions?
Nice job
Great video. Is this harder to do if using a gold pearl over white? Getting ready to attempt to do a complete repaint of my 64 Chevy after watching tons of your videos.
Hey Brian. Love your channel. I’m in the process of getting my cars done. What’s the best primer to use ? Filler, sealer ? Just sandable ? I’m gonna be buying a large amount. I want to make the right choice.
Those sensors can be painted with "radar transparent" formulas. The range is reduced the more you load the paint on
Yea. Thats actually the formula used.
Quick question. Looks like the exhaust of booth is at back end of vehicle. Normally I hear you comment on starting to spray at front of vehicle and work way back to exhaust. Looks like you started at the back end side near exhaust. Why did you decide on this method of spraying clear. I've got my own thought on why I think you did that, but I'd like to know from you why you went this route. Vehicle came out great regardless!
What color primer would you suggest for a first time DIY white paint job? (grey or white primer?)
Where is your paint shop located for paint job done…?
At what % of reducer will you start to get die back? Or is 5 or 10% roll the dice type of thing?
Dont go over 10. I suggest 5. If you have to
I did 10% when I was in a pinch and wasn’t going to have enough clear. Die back was terrible. Luckily it was just a camper shell for my truck, but lesson learned.
Hey man I just scratched my bumber and rear side pannel! My paint is Platinum White Pearl (NH-883P), was wondering if I could send you a photo and get ur opinion on what I should do!
Where can I get the booth carpet?
I dont see the plastic mixing sticks on the description.
Added it
I have a question can the HTE Black widow 2.0 be used for waterborne paints and if not what are the signs it has been damaged if used?
Cool 😎
Brian, how would you paint this color on a roof? Walk the whole length or as you would split up the side of a car. Thanks for all the tips all the way from Australia
75% of this roof is a moon roof glass so i would just do the passenger side front to back then do driver side front to back
Can you spray a 2k clear over gloss acrylic enamel?
Hey Brian I have a new panel that was originally primed with some black primer and I have sanded just about all of it off and have been told I need to use an epoxy since it’s bare metal. I bought some Eastwood 2 part epoxy primer. Is this stuff good enough? Also, it says to use a fast etch solution for best results. Should I do that?
Thank you
Awsome job good to se a person take pride and be proud of the work they have done as thats startn to get rare these days well done 🇦🇺🇦🇺🇦🇺🇦🇺🇦🇺🇦🇺🇦🇺🇦🇺🇦🇺👍
Hey Brian, I literally have the same repair right now, car keyed down both sides and around the back...I think the mini inline sander is a good approach, what tool is that that and what is the pad length? The mini inline sanders not something I see too often...
Its a dynabrade and i believe its like 8 inches
Brian, u didn't use ur favorite 4600, not too heavy..
Ws400 atomizes better
I am back Brian. I am getting frustrated bud. The lower fender clear pealed. It must have gotten contaminated. Since I also do alot of motor work in my garage. The mixing of the two doesnt work to well. I wash everything down with bleach. Buttttt.... Five steps foward ten back.
Was that a piece of cardboard? That’s something new i just learned
Yes smoothes out the edge from the foam
Guys I really low spray painting and im good at it,but im worrying about my health,I wear 3m mask and body suit, but still I fear for my health,I want to do this job,but at what cost if my health is going to get bad,Im 21 yo male and not married I heard it can also affect your testicles etc etc…
When is the giveaway
What were you doing with that card board trick?
Smoothes out the edge from the foam tape
Lov you Boss❤❤❤🇧🇩🇧🇩🇧🇩🇧🇩
Those 5 gallon pales look scary. I would probably fall lol
They are dangerous when they’re not filled, but one was so it wasn’t that bad
@@PaintSociety Turned out great 💯
👍🏼👍🏼👍🏼👍🏼👍🏼😎
Great job as usual, but "in my opinion" white is such a dead color in comparison to what colors are out there now.
#hepoops
Brian, question I just got done color sanding and buffing that ridgeline fender I have been talking about. any way, I had a couple chips on my front bumper cover. I guess I wasnt paying attention, the hose hit that spot and pulled a bunch of clear off the bumper cover. Weird. I dont understand, why isnt it sticking better. I follow your instructions to a tee. My blends even came out awesome.
what tools do you use? (like paint gun, etc..)
❤❤❤❤❤whatsapp brian hope u doing great
I love your Videos and dont be bad on me but it gets me every time to see every painter in the World has the same problems and my biggest problem in Mind is Colormatch. Maybe the Customer dont care about a little different metallic or Color tone but in my eyes its like cancer! 😂 An i am struggeling with myself everytime i dont match to well.
Do you agree me if i say : a third coat of pearl were able to match a bit better to your A Frames which looks like a bit darker than the repainted areas?
Guess what... I love your Content and i would like to say Thank you for your great great content. I have learnd so much from your videos its amazing.
Best Wishes from Upper Bavaria Germany.
