    Been years since fishing at Lake Dixon , Escondido! Beautiful lake, and I will be sure to come fish it again.
    I really all the appreciate all the good vibes out there. Been busy with life, being a dad and loving husband . That its hard to find the time to fish and film with the hours of editing that is involved. So I do really appreciate all the love !
    I will continue to make videos, and share content with the community either way :)

    Looks like Trout Cove. Thanks for the videos showing your full techniques. Reading how to use a jig doesn't help but watching does. I've never caught anything with a trout jig but I also had never really known how to use it.

    Darn, just turned on the 'puter, saw the Utube notification, thought I'd be the 1st 'Like'. Looks like I got beat to the punch. Here's the "Fish Whisperer" at it again. Never miss a single one, I might learn something.
    Ironically, I just picked up a Californian 7'6" Ultra light, Sedona 500 with 4 Lb Izor line coupla' days ago at Turner's just for Dixon, Wohlford, Poway. This looks to me like your on the shoreline on the left of the Handicapped Dock?? Yes/No??
    The docks get too busy, too much noise, distraction on a busy day. That's why I go week day mornings. Seems from what I've seen the stocked trout don't wander out too far from the boat dock where they were dumped into the lake, stay closer to the west end of the lake.
    Like you mentioned, otherwise they become lunch for those big bass. Do you know the history of that monster 20+ Lb Bass, named 'Spot' or 'Spotty'. I think it's up on the San Diego Fishermans web site if I recall. Also made a local news story in one of the local papers. Apparently found by another angle, died perhaps of old age. Had been caught and released several times over the years, allowing it to grow and grow and grow. A good story.

    • @RodneyMarquezFishingChannel
      @RodneyMarquezFishingChannel  Před 4 lety +1

      Hello Dan! Na this was the shoreline on the right of the boat dock :) The footage was still of the tree line still representing that the trout were under the shade, under the tree line :) . Yes I remember that documentary of the big bass caught at Lake dixon called "Dotty" as it had a distinctive mark on its chin or jaw line. Huge bass that most likely gave many offsprings that maybe up to her caliber :)
      tight lines !

    Is there a way to tell if they’re on the hook without actually seeing them bite the lure while you’re jigging?

    • @RodneyMarquezFishingChannel
      @RodneyMarquezFishingChannel  Před 4 lety +1

      excellent question. For me, it feels like a very small "tic" of a feeling. they bite so softly, they like to spit the jig out quickly.

  • @KurtunaFeesh
    @KurtunaFeesh Před 3 lety +2

    Quoting you..."bounce that mini-jig right in front of his face". So, my question is...how are your results when you're not able to see the trout swimming right near the shore...and you can't drop a bait on his head? No offense intended, but I don't see that much sport in sighting them and dropping a jig in front of them. I know you rack up numbers like that...and if that's your goal, you seem to have it down. But my question remains...do you have any tips for those of us that are fishing by the conventional means of trying to figure out where they might be on a certain day, in certain conditions; figuring out which bait to use; figuring out the depth they're holding at; presenting the bait appropriately; etc? I mean, you've got to admit...dropping a jig in front of a trout that's ten feet off shore and then reeling them in with twenty cranks isn't much sport. So, what do you recommend at Dixon when the stockers aren't plentiful and you have to work for a bite? Thanks.

    • @RodneyMarquezFishingChannel
      @RodneyMarquezFishingChannel  Před 3 lety +2

      good read, good question! If I am trying to elicit a bite without seeing them, I have two techniques. spoons and trout dough. spoons can be used to cast far, and to attract any trout from distance away because of their flash and erratic motion. Second, trout dough, is a good technique to check if trout are hugging the bottom in deeper waters. At Lake Dixon, there are certain channels and "holes" that produce trout and using trout dough would be beneficial. Finding those sweet spots will take some investigation :) Hope this helps!

    Rodney, have you heard how the trout stockings aren’t what they are suppose to be in Southern California this year?

    • @RodneyMarquezFishingChannel
      @RodneyMarquezFishingChannel  Před 4 lety

      Yeah some lakes in So Cal, are getting different trout from a different plants. And the size of the trout are way smaller. Lake Dixon, however, are still getting the same plant from last year

    • @Marioag20
      @Marioag20 Před 4 lety +2

      Rodney's Fishing Adventure I’m near Jess Ranch, and the word I’ve heard is due to smaller plants of smaller fish, this is gonna be a slow trout season. All the small lakes around me having been doing horrible, and they are definitely lying about how much they’re stocking

    • @RodneyMarquezFishingChannel
      @RodneyMarquezFishingChannel  Před 4 lety +2

      excellent question . I think it helps :) However I think: line size, colors, size of lure, how you work the lure all have a greater influence than scent. Not all the time, but I do see slight difference when using scent and when not using them.
