2/8 should have been 1/4
that much I already knew ☺️
I've taken math up to Differential Equations and forgot all this primary school math 😅
whoa... You need to remember this for sure...😊
ur allowed to use calculator that’s why
Where were you 60 yrs ago😁
Man I sucked at math in school I barely passed, but I was excellent in history, reading comprehension, and essay writing hahaha!
Same hear i do my maths in my head and literall yh forgotten the highschool way of working out ..old but can still relearn . Good for the brain
Thank you for the nice brush up. Sometimes we forget the little things when we haven't done this for so long.
There’s a reason you haven’t done this for so long?
@@joecorrie1 yes, it's because you usually don't use the useless maths stuff they teach at school, in the real world.
❤️🩹
You are very welcome

Can't ya just add up 2 3/5th 5 times?? I would like to see the problem solved that way!?
My 7th grade math teacher in the 70's told us something about dividing fractions that I'll never forget. "Yours is not to question why, just invert and multiply."
Hahaha
As a teacher I agree. Knowing why is not important for the exam.
knowing why helps to remember it properly though. when i was a peercoach for students id always try to find an explanation for why things were done a certain way.
the thing your 7th grade teacher should have said was "I will show you how to do this but u will never ever use it in real life"
@@georgeslupski5987 You'll never use math if you are a middle to lower class factory worker. All the people that make >$100 k/year, all those people that you envy all have put in the work to learn math. I agree with you, if you work construction or a minimum wage retail job you won't need more than a 4th grade level of math. Doesn't mean that you were a bit stupid and lazy in high-school to the point of not learning grade 6-7 algebra, that you have to push your narrative about your inability to do math and how it wasn't useful for you. Everyone uses and does maths at their job except the low income disposable or replaceable workers in society.
I paused the video at 15 seconds, and solved the problem in mere seconds. I got 14 and 3/10. I converted the fractions to decimals, multiplied, and got 14.3.
Easy peasy!
I was taught this in primary school. Never forgot the basics as schools were good in the 70’s.
They were good in the 50s & 60s, too. 😃
Currently, in school. Still good!
You sound like a West Indian.
@@DisneyFan1 Eh.. as a student myself I don't neccesarily agree.. but ok.
@@DrageLee Depends on the country. As a student, I quite enjoyed primary school and secondary is still pretty good. I was trying to point out school wasn't just good in the 70s, 60s or 50s. Not all schools are enjoyable and I understand and there will be schools like that in the 70s, 60s and 50s.
Thnks. I am a retired individual. I always hated maths becyi could never understand mixed fractions. But sir, you made it so simple with your explanation. Gbu
Oh my goodness! I completely forgot this lesson during my school days. How nice to watch this video it refreshes my brain. Thank you young man.
welcome
So many ways to get to the correct answer. Always good to see how other countries/languages solve equations...
If only these kinds of video existed when I was in elementary, I would've been better at mathematics.
Kids today can just have quick refreshers for lessons they might have forgotten after a long and tiring day at school.
Thank you for this, nonetheless
Same thoughts. Yan lagi kong sinasabi sa anak ko, napaswerte nila may ganito na.
The calmness of your voice and clarity of your teaching method.makes it more easier to understand. I had hope.that during my schooldays, I had a mentor such as kind as your tone. Unlike, my teacher who threw eraser at her student once haven't answered incorrect. Such a rude mentor brought us nervous breakdown.😔
I like your voice n8ce to keep hearing it. you must be a good Philipino
I had a teacher that loved a yard stick. She enjoyed using it on her students. I told her if she used it on me that my mother would tar and feather her.
I greatly enjoyed watching this video. It was a nice refreshing course while doing some of the problems in my head.
If the teacher would of showed me how to do it like that I would have had no problem understanding it when I was in school 🤷🏻♀️
You're pulling my leg right? Surely you are trolling....this is literally the way everybody in my class, the class before me, the 2 classes after me, my younger brothers, both sisters and even my own kids now have learned this....well over 42 years total. I KNOW you are shitting me.
Lol, don't lie bruh. You just suck at it.
Exactly
Your ethnicity confirmed at the end with Tagalog--- Filipino- 1 of my husband's brothers was a brilliant math professor in Baguio City & elsewhere in PI--my 8 & 10yr old math loving grandsons will enjoy these tutorials. Salamat🙂🙏
wow..thanks mam...😊
I haven't done this in over 20 years. Great refresher
Answer: 14 2/24 = 14 1/12
Omg thank you!! I've been looking for a vid with no simplifying and this is perfect♡
I was stuck on this part 1:32 because I thought I had to do something else but now I know you just need to multiply. Again THANK YOUUUUU
This is the old style during my time in 80-90s. My kid is learning different style of calculating nowadays
This really helped me, I was having quite some trouble with Mixed Numbers and had to use calculators once given homework, it didn't feel right, and during class, my class and I would have to redo it and show our work on paper, which was very frustrating.
We are taught things that we will never ever use or rely on..
Spot on!
@@mbd6054 No ledge.. and it's not always the truth
I still believe in being taught the basics and run with that knowledge.
Just the way I remember learning it as a kid! Great job!
thank you
Thank you! I'm with you! I instinctively get it and Iam amazed because when young, I skipped learning math and an unskilled teacher was the main reason. And I never did my homework.
I was so close ! Left HS in 1966 . Kudos teachers !!
13/5×11/2=
13(11)/10=
143/10
Next time we'll learn at what point in our lives we are going to use this knowledge...
Convert the numbers using decimalisation to 2.6 x 5.5 then reconvert the result back into fractions if required .
Ended up doing that mentally. 14.3, then 14 3/10. Still got it, after 100 yrs
That's the real world common sense way👍
@@ks0969 me too. Too easy.
But that defeats the purpose of the lesson. What if the next problem is 3 1/3 × 4 3/8? There's gonna be trouble!

I forgot all my elemental school maths ever since algebra came in during highschool, this is a nice refresher
Salamat po Sir,mejo nagising ulit Ang antok sa math Kong utak.
Subscribed! Needed a refresher. Thanks 👍
OMG i am 55 years old and completely forgot all about how to do this, which makes me feel terrible. Thank you, great video. :)
wow...thanks
WE NEED THIS TEACHER!!!!!
Thank you !! For a moment you took me back to my early years of school! I wish I could had some like you as a teacher back then!!!😃
Haha, feel the same too :)
Me to ,,!
welcome po
Old school and I love it!
What's a practical example of needing to know how to use this?
Thank you. How I wish nauseous Ang yt noong AKO nag hs dahil ito math ang hell ko noon. I passed it to my child.
Sana nga po naging available na ito dati pa... Salamat po sa pag share ng aking video..
Wow Thanks For Taking Me Back To My School Days As I've Grew To Understand It Really Helps To Save Alot Of Money In Life.
Thanks for the video. In math we wouldn't write mixed numbers because it's just too hard to work with them. Only in the end we would take the full numbers out and write it like this. Hope this makes sense I'm from Germany and don't know how to explain math in English
Salamat po tagapagturo.
Very good of you to teach this.
Salamat po Teacher Gon❤ 👨🏫
Nice work
Useful reminder on how to do basic maths. You have GREAT handwriting, by the way!
wow...thanks for appreciating my content and my handwritting
All my husband's family & Filipinos I know have beautiful, neat handwriting(method taught in PI)😊♥️🙏
@@MathTeacherGon The higher Types of Math sure does get very confusing and complicated
Thank you for the refresher course. It's been decades since I did this in school. I always liked fractions, I guess because my dad sat with me patiently and showed me as many times as needed ❤️.
wow..thanks
@@MathTeacherGon
I am usually reluctant to attempt or to try out a fraction problem sum, but after this video, I found that fractions may not be as difficult as I think it is. Thanks a lot again!! 😁
Mrame matutunan dto sir,,👏
mahina ako sa math.pero ngayon may edad na ako as madali kuna intindihin.kasi magaling yon turo mo maituturo ko din sa anak ko.
wow..keep on learning lang po
I'm not so master when it comes to mathematics I think I just need a closer look to study on it , thanks to this vlog ,and thank to you sir I want to learned on mathematics it's been a long time that i already forgot this.
😂🤣🙏❤
you are welcome....😊
Even though i was confident i knew how to do this and got 14.3 before i clicked on, it was a good video and a good perspective of how this equation is solved in a formal written manner, i do this stuff in my head and then scramble to write it down the exact way i worked it out, as i usually have an atypical method for most problems, great video!
Same
Same
i’m 51 and never had to use this in real life 😂
I've never used this... even in high school math
The closest I've come to using this is dimensional analysis in collage chem
Though I'm starting to think this isn't about being useful, but more about teaching us how to better manipulate numbers to find an answer
Watching this video made me sad lol, it reminded me of being in math class hanging out with all my friends and goofing around, growing up ain't as fun as it seems, cherish the time left you have in school bc AS SOON as you leave you will want to go back I promise you
Thank you so much CZcams recommended this and it came out on test I got 18/20 THANK YOU VERY MUCH 😇
This is my favorite subject👌kahit boung araw mag Mathematics kami, hindi ako Tulog. #justSaying

Mrs. Devecchio would love you...thanks for the brush up...
Wow! Thanks alot, I never knew that you could actually do that! This video taught me alot!! Thanks so muchh!!
welcome...😊
Thanks for this🎉
Great
I hated math my whole life. I hated it so much, that it caused me to get hives from getting nervous. I'm 48 years old now and I love watching this because there's no pressure to need to learn this monster subject I have hated forever.....which causes me to actually understand what is being said. Thanks for having these videos. I hope I am the only kid that lived that got hives from math😂
I like math because it's easy and counting was fun since pre k
I did not like reading it's hard to understand
Well most pll like reading so yeah
Why do you hate math in the past?
Wow!! I wish my mom taught me that way hahaha!!! That's easier than the way I was taught lol
Tysm! I was very confused on how to do this but after watching this video it helped me a lot, I will definitely do AMAZING on my math test today!!
I like it
@@ezkillzgaming ok?
Thanks for the review. I was happy to find that I still remember .
welcome
Thank you sir!!
this is helpful for me even tough for my college i need to apply this basic maths thats not math can do that doesnt mean its only for kids nah when we are not start in the basics we will never learn in this way
Malaking tulong to sakin sir Para sa mga anak ko soon mka teach na ako sa kanila pg gani to fraction
nice keep on learning po mam
What a simple basic method
I have never had to multiply a mixed number in my life.

Wow 1.2m for two
Months🎉❤️❤️❤️ galing mo ser
Ty, teacher Gon... had almost forgot how to multiply mixed numbers... been a long, long time since I had too😁
welcome po..
It was my weakest in school, I couldn't remember the steps that was and is always my problem 😏l- highly intuitive to science, literature, writing and history 😊
So simple way you have explained thank you
you're welcome
This was easy to do in my head.
I remember in 9th grade , they had us multiplying and dividing fractions, I always liked math ,... up until that point,. asked the teacher, give an example of when we will need to do this later in life ,!? dude couldn't do it ,.. looking back at 50 ,what they should be teaching is more square footage ,(what I use almost every day at my job) and stuff like interest rates ,percentages, and maybe how to get affordable car insurance , not busy work you'll never use again ,..🤔
Multiplying uncommon fractions is far more uncommon than the more common practice of adding both common and uncommon fractions. Either way, common sense is to convert both common and uncommon fractions to decimals which will bring your answer to a common denominator. It's the common thing to do.
@@tangoindiamike9189 I'm like mad at numbers,.. there's too many of them ,..😠
I so agree. What's the point? What a waste of time for most people.
That's what's wrong with the system. They don't teach and prepare students what they need to know to make a living. Just like what you mentioned.
@@drewfinisher11 I used to count all the numbers, but I had to keep starting over, because every time I got to the end, suddenly there were more.
Thank you for your example's. First I don't know this try and try watching antil I remember how. Thank you for your example's 🙂🙂🙂.
Very nice teacher gone.
Thanks so much, you made math so simple. You’re an amazing teacher.💯🙏❤️😇
wow..thank you
I do remember how to do this, but I admit for one this simple, I'd just convert to decimals and be done with it.
这个数字恰巧简单而已,你的换成小数的方法泛用性不高,并且如果遇到无理数很难准确的表达出来
Thanks for the refresher!👍
welcome...keep on learning
Thank you for your service as a teacher. "You want to learn this to use this later on in life" : Has never used this kind of math later in life 🤦
Salamat sir sa turo ganito lng pala ka easy
welcome po...
It's nice Kala ko limot ko n ung mga yan but every time I watch your videos parang me button n nag open then na a lala ko kung Pa no gawin yan d Pa man nagsisimula ung video.
I can't believe I remembered how to do this!! 😂
Yes that is how I was taught in 1948 when I started my schooling... cheers 😀
wow
Heeeey!!!! I needed you as a math teacher when I was in grade school lol
whoooaa sorry I am late
Just found you on FB then I'm searching your CZcams channel done subscribe.
We have been spoiled by the calculator. I clicked on this because I had a short memory freeze solving it. I have been using the calculator too much. To solve a lot of this, the basics are still important. Thanks for this reminder.
Maths is the best subject ever in school hands down. Nothing to memorize. Just simple, pure logic
@Jay when u start doing questions related to those equations or understand the Derivations behind the formulas it’s not hard to memorize the equations unlike memorizing dates and stuff in history or names in biology
@Mikaela Mae Suyat depends on whether u gave it a fair chance. Maths is hard only for those who don’t really try.
@Mikaela Mae Suyat yeah I get what u mean. Perhaps understanding the logic behind the formula or practicing will help? All I’m trying to say is maths is purely logic based and everybody has the same reasoning capabilities more or less. That’s why maths is the best for me. It can be so for u too if u practice by yourself at home honestly
Didn’t get it in HS and don’t get it now.
Good thing I got into botany where only common sense math applies
Thank you
