Soul Reaver - Unused and "Deleted" Dialogue

  • As many of you undoubtedly know, Soul Reaver was originally to have a different ending than what it ended up with, and there was also to be more to the Human Citadel than there ended up being. While these elements were cut from the game much of the related dialogue was still included on the disc. This video contains the majority of that unused dialogue, as much of it as I was able to determine.
    Also on the disc are a lot of retakes of the same dialogue, including about 4 to 6 versions of "I am destroyed" and a different version of the voice over from the opening FMV (including alternate versions of several of those lines). None of these were included in this video, but I may make another one later featuring them.

      I would like to see a full remaster of the series, incorporating the cut content. Using dialogue from Soul Reaver 2 and Blood Omen 2, you could have Raziel realise the Elder God's evil, then after the Silenced Cathedral return to the chronoplast and set it in motion himself, travelling back to the Sarafan era to create a new timeline where Kain survives.

    @GaryMc10 Yeah, oriinally the Kain battle at the Chronoplast wasn't the end of the game. Raziel would gain the Shift at Will ability from Kain, which would then let him enter a new area in the human city where he would fight the Priestess, gaining the Mind Control ability, which would give him access to Turel's teritory. From the Turel battle he would proceed to Kain's Mountain Retreat for the final battle with Kain. At some point Ariel would present herself for absorption into the Reaver.

I’ve loved the game since I was a child, but always felt unsatisfied at not defeating all of Raziel’s brothers and not getting all abilities/forges and not knowing what the point of going to the human citadel was outside of getting the water wave ability. @CheekiCheeki Před 4 lety

      @Irfan Alddin It's directly from Amy henning herself, so that's no fan fiction. Raziel does INDEED care about the consequences of his actions, and by the end of Defiance he sacrifices himself to cleanse Kain of corruption, leading to the potential restoration of the Pillars through new, untainted vampire guardians. The vampires never used Raziel as a pawn, insofar that they didn't try to orchestrate his destiny like the Elder God and Hylden. They merely foresaw Raziel's coming and his role in Nosgoth. They only knew he was supposed to be its savior.
      Raziel is one of the most moral and noble characters in the whole series. He would never be indifferent

    • @jabroniyumerale6204
      @jabroniyumerale6204 Před 4 lety

      Actually each game has a "double sided coin" choice.
      BO1 - it is the starting point.
      It's just SR1 decided to omit those due to time constrains,
      SR2 is JUST a continuation to SR 1, so the choice you made in SR1 would be continued
      (I'd call "Soul Reaver" 1 - chapter "Soul Revenant" and "Soul Reaver" 2 - chapter "Soul Reaver").
      Defiance starts with both endings being what they are - both Kain and Raziel don't do what the "fate" has for them.
      And as for BO2? I'd rather put it after all other games.
      Since after BO2 one can snuck in Dark Prophecy / some Shifter-esque spin-off to get the Hylden side of the turning coin filled with another protagonist, who's gonna "participate" in DP.

      @xyex  Před 4 lety

      As it stood in the original game, Mortainius turned Kain to purge the circle so that Pillars could be restored. It wasn't until later games that the corruption of the circle gained more nuance. Plus Silicon Knights, the actual developers of the original Blood Omen, had their own plans for the series that would have gone entirely different from what Crystal Dynamics did with it. But the publishing deal SK signed with CD gave CD the IP rights so SK couldn't make another Blood Omen.
      Worked out for the best, I think. While there is no way of knowing what SK's Blood Omen franchise would have been, or what Shifter could have become if not turned into a LoK title, the LoK we got was great and SK took it's scrapped BO2 and reworked it into Eternal Darkness for the GameCube.
