If I’m being honest.. I cried when listener left the party.. because I know what’s it like being the “clingy one” and the one who always calls and texts when they don’t understand we do that because we have no one else.. and we’re so excited to have someone who truly accepts us as we are..
To be fair. I haven't had people talk crap about me... most of those just ghost me more than anything... but I know that I was the toxic friend once to someone. But this was before we had access to cellphones and stuff. I wanted friend to be casual and she was desperately clingy for a close friend. I do realize how wrong I was, but in the same breath, I also do realize that I did not have any healthy examples of friendships to compare to. I know I hurt her. I know that I did even back when it happened. Bit it was at the time where I needed some space to talk to my bestie at the 5 she was always hovering around trying to join in on what was meant to be a private conversation... I lost contact with her as I never got a phone number, I'm bad at remembering spelling of names, don't remember her last name, and moved schools because a new one was built closer to my house and so I had to transfer...
Man, that heart sinking feeling settled in real quick. I got so used to it in school, I have to make sure I'm not being too much or annoying around every else. Most of the time, it's better to just be alone.
This exact situation happened to me today, its not the first time but this time i lost my whole friend group. Its better to be alone

I have never been in a relationship cause I’m just to scared to talk to new people so when I do become friends or if I get in a relationship with someone I worry I may come off as “clingy” but it’s because I value the person and it’s my way of showing I care. Also I have ADHD and was kinda sheltered as a kid(I went to a private school till 8th grade so that didn’t help much until I went to public high school) so when I’m at home where I’m comfortable I come off a bit silly and worry I’m seen as weird or just dumb for not understanding things people my age are interested in.

This reminds me of a girl I befriended in highschool. We were both gay and bonded over cartoons and such. And she even Told me about Oswald Rabbit being Walt Disney's First Cartoon before Mickey. I would skip lunch to spend time with her in a counselors office waiting room. I thought we were good friends until I was at the eye Doctor and saw her pass by outside. I went out of the store and called to her but she then broke into a sprint upon hearing me. I knew then that we were never really friends and it hurt.
