There were/are even more variations of each track on top of the reverse races, you can race mirrored versions of each track by by selecting a track and then holding L1 + R1 + Start + Select until the race loads in for even more ways to enjoy the game
I was 17 when this was released and even to this day it's still one of my favourite racing games and I still own a copy, so much nostalgia.

This is the game that came with my PS1 when I got it for xmas in 1997. Took me almost a year to unlock Class 6 and even then I could only win races if using the Vanquire' 'batmobile' - trying to drive the Lizard Bulldog was akin to riding a drunk hippo. I only knew about Class 6 because I had a guide which I brought in Virgin Megastore (remember them?)

Yeah, the easiest Class 6 race is actually the 2nd one. On the last corner before the long straight, the rival cars slow down quite a lot. Basically the method is to pass them on the last couple of corners & you'll get first place. When I played through the game & the secret class again several years ago I was able to get gold on all the races.
😅 I know the feeling. As for me, I managed to finish all races in first. But it did take me a long time. Playing manual makes it easier. You can carry more speed into corners and out. The oval did give me problems.

Crash Bandicoots, Medievil, Final Fantasies... Nah, this was the first one.
I can’t settle for podium. I need first. I driving myself up a wall trying to beat these but each class get exponentially more difficult to get 1st especially with all the traffic.
It's not really hidden. If you go into the Trophies page of the options menu, there are two rows for classes 1 to 5 and a single row on the end for class 6.
Interestingly enough you do unlock an extra track on the soundtrack for beating Class 6, I believe it’s titled “Deep Dive”

The Class 6’s 4 cars are all rival cars that you’d fight every 2-3 cars where the announcers would remind you to overtake them on the normal classes. So using the cars that you owned and upgrade prior to the endgame cars won’t be enough to fight them.
RAGE RACER! I never completed Diablo GP when I was little. Good stuff! The last car sounds like a Dyson vacum cleaner lol.!
All I have to say is the “Squaldon” is so fuckin crazy. Like, I know for fact I never drove it once but I love it. Just sounds so maniacal, weird word but it just sounds so insane, almost evil.
well...every single Ridge racer series (console releases) Have a devil car and a white angle car starting from revolution...the Suqaldon...is your devil car and the white ai is probably your "white angel"
@@c3gfboy7 I know that but rage racer’s devil car does kinda stick out. There isn’t quite an angle car like the other games either(unless you wanna count the white ai Squaldon).
@@Sparkcell275 yeah my thoughts to be fair of the white ai presumably is the angle cause in the extreme oval it's you as the devil vs the white or somet maybe which is wierd cause the white ai is always the 1st one you go up against in the core 3
If you get the Gold trophy in every class the Title screen turns Gold

2:52 you need to use the high speed start technoque. Some people can win the Class 6 with class 5 cars
so much i dont know about this game, was one of my childhood faves - i may do a small follow up vids with all the stuff you advised and others :D - thanks for letting me know - any other secrets or easter eggs you know about?
I too thought there was something else to this game...I remembered being able to upgrade from V4-V6-V8 and so on. That must've been another game (Top Gear 2 probably) But I knew there was something there, but couldn't remember what it was. Something made this game stick out to me all those years ago...and this is it!!
According to the user manual of the game (TG2), there's V6, V8, V10 and V12. No 4-cylinder options there.

Man, watching this really brought back memories. I remember getting to that last class and just like you, tried the first race only to get left in the dust at the start. I thought...F*ck this!!! I don't think I ever went back after that. I still have my copy of the game, my original PSX and a PS One with the LCD screen. I should fire this one up to just enjoy it and hate it for how hard it was at times.
There’s something about turn four on the oval that kinda bumps your car towards the outside. I found it’s best o hug the inside tight unless there’s an ai car in the way.

Back in the day I placed first in every race eventually, but did so using the Namco Negcon controller, far superior to using a d-pad. I returned to the game a few years later with the Namco Jogcon in Negcon compatibility mode, the Negcon was an amazing controller.
I need to crack open the R4 I have on my old custom PS1, I have the Original Japanese release that was bundled with the Jogcon 👍🏽
