Voyagers of the Jump is an original adventure using the 2022 2E Update to the Traveller RPG rules set by Mongoose Publishing.
First published in 1977, Traveller is a science fiction RPG in the vein of The Expanse or Battlestar Galactica. Most who played the original game back in the day remember the robust character creation system where if you push too far and get unlucky with the dice, you can die before you even start playing.

God Skid is such a wonderful human being. Just immediately comes on with the most genuine, warm, "I'm so happy because i'm such a big fan of everyone here and all their specific stuff" while being such a funny, talented, absolute treasure. What a truly lovely man, he makes me smile by being him. And by being other people too.
This character creation seems so good. The way that it takes the players control away from aspects of their own backstory makes their story so much more believable. In real life things don't always go the way we expect or want them to, and it translates that into the game really well.
Thats why random generation is almost always preferable to point-buy
There's a nice mix of randomness and choice. I suspect over the years people have devised their own versions for non Traveller RPGs. I suspect it would work quite well for Call Of Cthulhu characters
It’s very much that when you start character creation, you have already started playing the game. You look at your abilities and what you want, you decide what you want to try to do and roll the dice to see how well your character accomplishes their goal. It’s the same process as any other action in the game, just over a larger time scale.
The got Seth in a running show!!!! Plus with Sydney, Skid, Alicia, and Matthew, we have an all star cast here. I am really happy to see a Traveller series.

"Have Glass Cannon, will Travel(ler)"... Seth brought me here, and I loved the Intimate Encounters game y'all played together. Wonderful collaboration, and I've been perusing glass cannon's library of vids since finding out about its content.
I had very little knowledge of Traveller going into this and I honestly have never been to this channel either. Instantly fell in love with the premise here and the cast is really fun from the first session alone! I just love scifi and heard about Traveller decided to give this a shot, glad I did

Mark Millers Traveller....wow, we played this in 1984 on the USS Dwight D Eisenhower.
I refereed this game for about 5 or 6 guys. So fun making maps and setting up campaigns. Lead miniatures and plastic dice.

We ran this on the USS WM H. Standly in 1987. We played a group of mercs. Grate times. Hay Shipmate!
After the "High & Dry" - adventure i really hoped they do Traveller again! We will miss Butch Kairo though.

Wes's nickname in prison would be S.C.U.B.A. Sponge because they are highly valued in prison and are one of the hardiest of marine lifeforms.
I did two message board versions of the game. Loved both characters. One an engineer, daughter of a somewhat famous archaeologist and another engineering type, extremely educated, but puts on the affect of a ‘backwoods seat of the pants’ engineer. And is best described as a ‘determinator eeyore.
I was so sad this was delayed. But it was so worth the wait. I love this system.
This is awesome! It's great to see Seth as a player, handling the dice luck. If you want even more choices for careers, Spica Publishing has put out 3 Career Books for Traveller that are available on Drive Thru RPG. Career Book 1 even has expanded event tables for the standard careers and life events. They are highly recommended!

Finally a group that does really cool Traveller actual play. This is what fun ttrpg between friends looks like, people. Haven't played in a while (I'm of Skid's and Seth's gamer generation, Traveller Little Black Books in the 80ies and all that), but I'm going to restart a group for sure after this. Keep it up, guys.

This is the new campaign I've been most excited for! I can't wait for the first proper episode!
One of the best, and for some tables most terrifying thing about Traveller is its sheer scope ! It is massive, and the Imperium's level of tech can be mind boggling -- but remember its size is ultimarely what gives the GM and your table the flexibility to tell any, and I do mean 'ANY' kind of scifi story -- the Imperium is so big - that it can comfortably exist within it! As for characters -- say goodby to the wide eyed 18 year old (though you can try that too if you want) - but normally the characters are nicely seasoned, averaging late 20s to late 50s in age :O Gotta love it!
I'd forgotten how much fun character creation in Traveller was. The last time I did this was a few too many decades ago.

Named after the fact that they had to be frozen for transport to afford the tour, I assume.
Loved this! Already a big fan of Seth's. Only stumbled across GCN recently and have binged quite a few NGWD? Traveller's character creation is so much fun in it's own right, if you just rolled new pc's each week I'd honestly be fine with it. Bit of a pity you're going to finish rolling them offline, but looking forward to seeing an actual campaign unfold!

I was just reading the 2022 Traveller update when I saw this! Very exciting! One of the changes in the update was to the Prisoner career. Parole threshold starts at 1D+2 now, instead of 1D+4. Hope Seth’s character gets out of the space clink!

If you like emerging story type character creation I would highly recommend Mutant Chronicles. The world itself is awesome dieselpunk goodness with oversized shoulder pads and probably one of my favorite character creation systems.
Mutant Chronicles 3rd edition definitely has an amazing lifepath creation system.

I played a little bit of Traveler in the 80s. Following everyone’s character creation makes me want to get back into it again. This was great. I cannot wait for the ensuing episodes! Feels like Buck Rodger’s serial.

Sydney’s character is like one of those characters like a scrawny girl from a high grav world and does security in low grav world except she is a average on a high intellect society that is immersed in culture and education but leaves to work with average people in space and feels smart here.

Excited for this. Been playing since the 80’s. A big literary inspiration were the Dumarest of Terra books bu EC Tubb.
There were also elements of the" Family D'Alambert" series by EE "Doc" Smith. More recently Elizabeth Moon's 'Vatta's War " series reads like a Traveller adventure.
Look for the Solar ClipperTrader Tales by Nathan Lowell for a series that describes a merchant career from 18 through many terms. Starts with Quarter Share.

Re-starting this campaign it's so good. Waiting on seasons 2 and 3, all the way up to at least season 10 and beyond.

37:11 "Okay I have this idea now hear me out!" Alicia's idea for a quote sounded vaguely familiar. "Everything can start with a seed, and everything can die in a fire." Now this quote of course doesn't have to come from Earth history cuz this is thousands of years beyond whatever time you're reading this. However, Celeste Ng wrote a book called Little Fires Everywhere and in it she talks about what I'd call a firestorm: that sometimes after a forest was on fire it looks bleak and apocalyptic, but with time and a little rain, life will come from the death. The soil is enriched by the remains of the trees, and life begins anew. "People are like that, too, you know. They start over. They find a way."
