Took forever for me to look people in the eyes, I was diagnosed in 1998 and it took until I was 23 or so to "overcome" those issues that autism brings. I'm on the high functioning part of the spectrum as well, made it really easy to do things mechanically but socially it handicapped me for many years. Im very glad you uploaded. I realized i was autistic when i had 2 of my kids diagnosed. I believe 4 of my kids are on the spectrum but 2 are almost non verbal, the other 2 are passable as normal
Not to disregard the message of this video, I can't help but to stare at that Honda and get nostalgic of my young early-teen self staring and fantasizing at all the Honda dealership brochures of all their bikes! This looks exactly like one of those bikes! Our family bought a new '77 Civic and of course I spent the whole time looking at all the bikes in the showroom and collecting the brochures to look at at home. I remember seeing the three-wheelers, and even a yellow "Odyssey" 4-wheeler in the showroom! I always dreamed of having one of those enduro (what we called on/off road bikes back then) bikes back then, but unfortunately, never got to even ride one in my life. PS. I even remember reading the little blurbs written around the photograph of the bike, pointing at the tires, stating that the rear wheel was smaller to to drop into the dips to keep up the traction while the front wheel was larger to glide over the dips without affecting the steering or ride as much!
This is why I resonated so well with your channel back in the day. I am also autistic, highly functional, but I am always being teased and made fun of, but I am really good at doing mechanical things, like you. I build and fix anything, but lack serious social skills. A good scuba diving buddy of mine pointed it out to me about 5 years ago after a good dive. She was clinically diagnosed and on meds, I never thought about it, high functioning, now we know. Thank you for sharing all of your videos over the years, I'm still watching your archive videos from your old channel. Keep going and doing what you love to do. We love you, Dave.

I do have asbargers myself I was diagnosed with that at a young age but I can talk and do things however I do I'm on the high functioning end but also have a learning disability as well but I'm smart at certain things which I will not mention to avoid was also diagnosed with ADHD which is attention deficit hyper disorder and loud noises don't bother me at all loud cars but I don't like things touching my skin such as lotion etc I couldn't hardly hear ended losing my hearing when I was young I also feel like if people meets anyone with any type of issues I think it's important that people educates themselves so they can communicate with people like us with any form of autism or learning disability
Doesn't surprise me Dave, I have self diagnosed Aspergers/ASD and it makes a lot of sense in retrospect. Now I can appear normal for the most part, but it requires a lot of conscious effort where most people would do so naturally.
My sister has full blown autism but through years of training she's able to work and prepare food for herself. I am on the spectrum as well but I am high functioning.
I haven't been officially diagnosed, but according to various online quizzes there is a good chance that I'm on the spectrum. I've always struggled socially, which has made it difficult for me to advance in the various jobs that I've had. I was bullied throughout school and continue to be bullied as an adult, because bullies don't stop being bullies they just get older. I have a few narrowly-focused interests but haven't figured out how to turn most of them into an income. Unfortunately, I'm not very good mechanically. My autistic superpowers are intellectual, and it's almost impossible for me to explain what goes on in my head so I can never convince anyone of anything. If given an opportunity, people can see the quality of my work afterwards. I got married later than most to a woman who is likely also on the spectrum. Our niece has low-functioning autism and is very sensitive to sound; she wears ear protectors all the time.
A normal life is boring. Actually I find “normal” people irritating and avoid trends like the plague. I startle very easily, even at the sound of my own mom’s voice if I don’t hear her approaching first. I rarely speak first, even to the rare person I am willing to call a friend. I’m very into technical stuff and building things from junk, constantly trying to learn new things which regularly steals my focus from everyday tasks.
Yeah I came to realize in the past couple years that I may be on the spectrum as well. There are many aspects of life right just couldn't seem to fit in and when I realize that it made a lot of sense.
I suffer from not only autism but type 1 diabetes brittle like say my blood sugar is 350 but in less than 10 minutes I'm 50 and i definitely need something to eat it's really had an effect on me and my daily life and im still just a teenager and I just want you to know that your not alone and there are tons of people who are way more autistic and are poor as well pls stay with us cuz we are your friends and family thanks and god bless
A lot of brilliant people have ASD on the functional end. Elon Musk also being one of them. I am not surprised at Dave's diagnosis at all. Learning to mask social issues just comes with time and awareness.

Please do me a huge favor Dave it would really make my day if you could do a full detailed building tour including the entire shop area layout excetera excetera. I remember years ago you had your red classic kit car I can't remember the name but it was stored in your building but it was a area I had never seen before almost looked like an extra room behind a wall that was never filmed before anyway I don't know why but it always drove me crazy trying to figure out the layout of your building I always thought it was interesting having that extra hidden room. after all the building looks huge from the outside but with all the stuff on the inside as hard to tell what's what anyway it may sound stupid but it would be much appreciated thank you.

This is making much more sense now, i watched daves farm back when i was, oh probably 14 or so, i absolutely loved all the videos, i would get home from school and just watch your videos till it was time for bed. I was diagnosed when i was 17 with high functioning autism. im in the genius range for my compression and problem solving abilities, i can take appart just about anything and put it back togeather like i have been working on whatever it is my whole life, i do have a few downfalls, like spelling and sometimes speaking, and to many voices make me very anxious but over all my life has been fairly good and im glad i found your channel and that your still making videos :)

Im autistic myself and ive had a rough life but your channel back in the day was a HUGE escape and entertainment source for me. i am so in love with those enduros that i got 9 of them. the 23 inch front wheel is just the best.
