- INXS performing live at the Sydney Sports and Entertainment Centre on the 13th July, 1985. The Live Aid event was organised by Sir Bob Geldof and Midge Ure to raise funds for the Ethiopian famine disaster. Broadcast across the world via one of the largest satellite link-ups of all time, the concerts were seen by around 40% of the global population.

INXS played at my wife’s high-school leavers celebration in 1979, just before the Umina gig when they officially became INXS.
I was lucky enough to see INXS and Ziggy Marley in Michigan when I was probably 14, I will never forget that concert!
I got to see them a few years after this. Great concert.

I’m 25 and only ever heard of INXS when referenced in the tv show The Inbetweeners. I just found this song in a Spotify playlist. I’m having a real tough time but my god this song is incredible!

When I was 22, One of my best friends and I used to frequent a bar in Long Beach and playing this song on the jukebox was a ritual. That was in 94, the world has become an insanely different place. Tears of joy and sadness.

Another song to stand the test of time. This song has constantly been in my life for life changing events and it's amazing how it works out. This song will always be my favorite song ever!

Back in '87 during the Kick Tour in New Orleans.. Somehow got dragged to an MTV in the 80's with INXS & never forget that show. So badass performance.. I think the t shirt had a devil on the front.. Sooo looong ago. Great memories....

IXS are my favourite but they can’t compete with the popularity and sales of AC/DC especially overseas and even in Australia they probably aren’t as classically Australian as a group like Cold Chisel

Absolutely agree, one of my favourites also. I miss the days we used to go to pubs to watch them . They were phenomenal playing crowds of 100 to 50,00 people

The 90’s are one of the best musical decades in history.

Best concert I saw. Ziggy Marley, The Smithereens, Iggy Pop, Guns N Rose's and INXS on one bill at Texas Stadium in 1989. When INXS came on, Texas Stadium turned into the biggest dance club in the world.
@bane1240 there were some good alt rock in the 80s The Cure, REM, The pixies, The Replacements, Jane's Addiction, etc. Hair Metal was good until 83 and petered out and everyone started sounding the same. Guns n Rose's breathed fresh air, and thank God the bands labeled grunge came around

I get it. I was in my early twenties when I first heard the hit song “Need You Tonight “ while doing a tour with my husband in Maine. I fell in love with particular song. And now decades later I am so hooked with INXS. I’m just very sorry for the loss of Michael and to the very loyal multi talented band mates. Thank you so very much.
I don't think realize there will never be another Live Aid where so many quality bands come together for a single cause.. Some may argue how much it helped. but this was huge..
Hardly anyone plays actual musical instruments anymore. Lol at today's so called artists.

Tuned into this because Roger Taylor from Queen had mentioned INXS as a great new band.So great to see them taking the mantle after Queen retired from touring.Michael was the last true Rock Star I think
Met him at Fishermans Wharf when I worked there loved Inxs since high school I still have all their vynlal bums saw them at Sunny Coast at a festival I had surfboard with INXS on it back in he day he's a beautiful man shame what happened but ill never stop listening 2 him from album 1 to the last..... what a band xx

Best live performance ever,,,I saw them at least 6 times. I saw them every time they played any where near the Bay Area. So glad I went to every show I could. Never disappointed.. so much energy and FUN, FUN.. I will always miss them.
When Bob Geldolf made the provision that Live Aid was a one-time charity event, and TV broadcast tapes should not be kept, tapes disabled - to prevent bootlegs, vs. the charity cause,....and some tapes were destroyed. Geldolf, according to a BBC article, back in like 2003, found bootleg videos sold in packs in a British/Irish market - he was not happy! He decided to collect footage and make the offical release, with money going to relieve famine and hunger, on DVD, and some music performances were gone, many were preserved. Having an offical YT channel, with the logo is a way to show the musicians, and what an incredible day that was.
I was on a high school trip, around German speaking nations (West, East, Austria, Switzerland) in July 1985. When our bus got to the hotel in Mannheim, many of us knew of Live Aid. We got to our hotel rooms -teenagers, and watched. Much of the concert was over, from London. We went in rotation to the dinning room, for quick dinners, then back to rooms, depending if you like the group/singer. When I got home to Ohio, my Brother had taped 3/4 of Live Aid on our family video, a Beta - yes, a Beta! We watched the concerts a number of times,...yet by 1990, the Beta Video was kaput, and the tapes were not viewable. They could have been converted to VHS, but that cost money. Glad that there is an offical Live Aid DVD set, and the YT channel to show the music, and keep the charity alive -feed the World!!
And, some of these Worldwide concerts were only shown in fragments, in the USA or West Germany. This is a great INXS performance!!

I've played quite a few INXS tunes in coverbands as a drummer, never tear us apart/need you tonight/new sensation/devil inside/don't change...all fun tunes to play but my favorite was, the one thing. INXS were a great band and had class and their drummer was outstanding, very animated player w/rock solid timing and great chops.
That is one sexy man. You are missed. Beautiful voice, uniqueness and one of a kind style. Rip.

I will never forget the concert I saw in Dallas at Texas Stadium. The Smithereens, Ziggy Marley, Iggy Pop, Guns & Roses and INXS as the headline band. They were awesome!

I was in high school when this video came out. Thought is was the best video of all time. Here I am at the gym. 57 years old listening to this.
