Hey thanks for watching the video!
Glad that your grain leg started right back up for you. To prevent overfilling your storage bins in the future. You might want to consider installing a “full bin alarm”. They are typically not that expensive or hard to install, as compared to having to manually clean out a grain leg. Or worse, causing down time or serious damage to your loading system. Thanks for the video! Your cows are looking really healthy & great!
It's a pleasure watching the various tasks on the farm. The house tour was nice, also, in the other video. I'd get a house similar, maybe even smaller, if I was to buy property. The front view is very nice. The heated garage and drain are excellent choices.
Dad: Man of little words, but lots of Wisdom. 🐄🥛
That’s right! 💪🏻
10:00 'high amps on the start' - best to compare it to a regular start. Of course there was grain in the leg and it would take more amps to start, however just starting a clear leg would take a lot of amps I would guess. And most motors for that application have a starter circuit which takes a lot of amps, and once the rpm's reach regular speed the starter circuit turns off and the regular circuit takes over from there. I wouldn't expect you wouldn't be as lucky in winter if that were to happen, or if the material is more moist or dense. Best to not ever let it happen if you can avoid it. Good luck.
Dont worry too much about the 40A start up ( it was actually well above that ). A motor starting under load will go well above its FLC (full load current), and if you have the correct D pattern breaker, this won't be an issue 😊
Excellent video Jan! Glad the grain leg motor started for you. The increased number of videos you've been posting is greatly appreciated. As you return to field work, understandable if you can't post as many. Stay safe! Best wishes for harvest, baling, shredding, and continued farm ops. Thanks again!
excellent tension on the grain leg story! glad it worked out for you.
Great video Jan. Nice bump. Glad you got the grain leg empty, Thank you
Great attitude Jan. That new tractor you were looking at is just peeking over the horizon man.
Glad your grain leg cleared. I would think it would be a tough job cleaning by hand.
I really like knipex slip joint pliers. I do a significant amount of pipe fitting and they are the best that I have ever used over the last 30 years. FYI, I think that the K in their name is silent.
Love your videos Jan! Thank you for making the house tour video!
🇫🇷house tour video was awesome … and interesting to better understand Jan
Your dad is an awesome farmer and the cows look excellent. Keep up the good work my man..
Dry Distillers is pretty light and fluffy here. If that was a heavy grain I don't think it would empty out that easy. I used to work for a cheese factory that made liquid calf feed for veal farms. So we would buy whey run it through an a Reverse Ismosis machine and seperate the permeate and protein. Then run it through an evaporator and condense the two I products. Permeate was dried and bagged. The protein was used in the calf feed.
Best possible outcome for the grain leg. When I saw the thumbnail I though you would be climbing once again. That would not have been fun in that heat. I picked up a crow bar laying in the sun the other day and it was too hot to hang onto.
Interesting and informative video much love from 🇳🇬 🇳🇬
Hauled lots of whey, from the Dairyland cheese plant in Abbotsford, to all sorts of farms, dairy and hog.
Doesn't the whey spoil or go bad in the underground tank? Any cleaning process for it?
Do you pay for the whey- or is this free.
Yes the daily farm report. Keep them coming from the imperial county California 👍👍🇺🇲
Thanks for watching!
Crazy posting daily much respect to the hustle
Hey Yan, Great videos mate, I really enjoy watching. Hey when you were fixing the leak on the FE loader, did you refer to the K-nipex pliers? what are they and what do you call them. I know them a Multi-grips or slip-joint pliers.
GOOD JOB EVERYONE!
6:02 your such a good brother you are willing to jump in whenever needed and never seem to complain about it.
Another great video. Thanks for showing us the way things work. Btw, I thought the bins had sensors to let u know when thet are full?.
Those are available, but apparently not installed on their bins.
Jan, I am astounded by the knowledge you have on the farm. I always watch your videos but rarely comment, but I must say the hard work you and your family does 24-7-365 and the love of dairy farming is truly fun to watch. I hope you harvest all the feed you will need for this winter and look forward to future video's. Have fun be safe :]
Just another day on the farm 🚜
As we say in the Netherlands, you are lucky boy that the grain leg/elevator still starts up after it has become over Filled Jan. Another interesting video
Thanks!
You could put a set of upper and lower bindicators on your bins. You’d always know the level inside the bin and interlock the elevator motor to the full bindicator and you’d never have that happen again. Just a thought. Great video. 👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻
>amperage
inrush current can be a killer. i noticed it flicked right over to 40A before settling back to 15. if it starts tripping circuit breakers you may have to consult with your electrical installers.
FS22 23 need to make this farm . And love how admitting is not ram down us like other so called big farms you keep going sir been here long time not going anywhere sir from me in uk 🇬🇧
Just found your channel, so hello from Saskatoon!
Always enjoy your videos and your sisters..
Thanks!
When you wash down the parlor after milking, are you using recycled water or fresh?
Having a bin filled to the brim is what some call a “good kind of problem“!
Awww the sound of the pulsaters is music to the ear's.
Haha hypnotic!
Once your grain system gets a little older it won't start that easy
These daily videos are very nice!!!
Jan, Please add a "Super Thank-You" button so we can tip you directly.
Great video
Some communities have complained about the noise from train horns. I like the sound and it seems to be a rather foolish safety risk, asking them to not blow the horn or put it on quiet mode.
Most farmers have very little time where they are not flat out working & dairy farmers take the work schedule to even a higher level since cows need to be fed & milked 365 days a year no matter what the weather is. Keep up the great work
How does loading the whey and other commodities go in the winter?
Jan, manure happens on farms and specially on dairy farms😱. If everyday was perfect you would get bored 🤣Well done 👍👍👍. Thank you for sharing. Be safe 🇨🇦
Did you see where Jan stuck his Red Bull! 🐄🇨🇦😁👍🏻
Have you ever considered cross breeding,to get more robust cows, we've used fleckvie and mry on or Holstein cows, there smaller more muscular and longer lasting!
I love your dad's hat. Is that a traditional Dutch farmers hat?
Love the videos jan
Your Dad's fedora reminds me so much of the ones my Dad wore.
Good job guys
Jan, your father sees that you are a young man who is very capable in the farms Operatations, and he has plenty of tasks for a man like you. Milking is something you can always do, but most everything else you can do is much more important than the milking (of course milking m,ignition be considered the ultimate job as it is the “cash register” of the farm. Well done Jan.
Another very interesting video Thank you 😊😊😊
Thanks!
Beautiful cows you have, I got taken of dairy coffee soda. I drink almond milk now I am not happy about it. But my health just won’t let me drink dairy. I have grandson that was taken off from dairy 6 years ago. His stomach couldn’t digest it. But the family goes through a gallon aday
Yes the daily farm report. Keep them coming
Been watching a lot of bin videos when Ben had been watching bin videos the bin over fills so Ben has been watching the bin so Ben doesn't have to shovel from the grain bin to the trash bin. Ah the life of a bin Ben.
Good day & lucky day
Yep!! Thanks for watching!
Thanks friend ! 👍
Must be really hot there first time I ever seen your Dad without his coveralls on
Haha truee!
You lucked out with grain leg start up, don’t do that too often or you’ll be buying new motor lol
Yep! Sketchy!
Lets gooo yan sir
Love the farm. Any thoughts or plans to move to robot milkers.
He has said that they want to upgrade to a rotary parlor someday.
Hey are you making mistakes just make to make interesting videos ? 😊
Just love all of these videos you have been posting
SUPER. TKS
Thanks for watching!
I live in AMERICA I know nothing about farming, but I love your content is very interesting and your videos are awesome and really relaxing❤
Kendra ..... Can you please tell me where "America" is...... I would appreciate it. 👃✌️🥰🇨🇦 Question is for Kenita.....(edit)
It’s below Canada you can get here by following people who don’t know what gender they are where they’re from we’re pretty much all overweight and 99.9 nuts but I still love America. And after reading this paragraph pretty much terrible grammar God bless have a great day.
nice video
I love the sound of the milker Thanks. Granny92USA
As a CP and CN shareholder, I’m sorry one of my trains delayed your trip home. 😁
Awwwww, that's sweet. 😊
🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣
❤
Does the feed wagon actually grind it up or does it just fluff it up
It just mixes the silage, grain and mineral additives together. The ingredients are processed before going into the mixer. The chopping of the silage is done by their forage harvester, or "chopper." The milling of the grain is done by their hammer mill. The minerals are already a powder.
@@MellowYe77ow that's not what I asked
@@Carsandrandomstuff What I'm trying to say is that the feed is already processed when they put it in the feed wagon. All the wagon does is mix the feed, so that the grain and minerals are evenly distributed within the silage.
How many Hired hands Do ya use Daily not counting you Elaine and Dad?
4 plus us 5
Hi Jan, when you AI a heifer is it always a to have heifer calf?
No, they can have bull calves as well.
Hello jan with 2 weeks we are in saskatsewan is it passable to visit your farm ? We are dairyfarmers from the netherlands ans moved to manitoba and want to by a dairyfarm
You dodged a bullet there, buddy. No, plugs.
Lucky you didnt have to empty the Grain Leg, Messy Job.
Yea I was stoked
👌👍❤️🇨🇦,
👍👍😊
Does your farm have an organic certification?
GMO grains/meat are illegal in Russia since 2016. If you are caught with them you are apparently deemed as being a terrorist...... 🤔
By law, all milk produced and sold in Canada is artificial growth hormone (rbST) free. As for feed you can not produce enough feed for the cows without using synthetic fertilizers and such.
Well, I don't know the exact laws in Canada. However dairyfarming can be done completely without synthetic fertilizer. Of course with lower yields. That affects the milk production and quality as well.
Jan
Cheers.
Love Love Love your vids….Rob
Why did unload the back trailer of the B Train first 6:27 6:28
Risk of getting stuck with a heavy load and none of it over the drive axels.
The pronunciation of Knipex 😂
good thing the truck was almost empty. If not you may have compacted the grain into that leg and you would have been in a world of hurt.
Always an adult there thanks
Jan ,What Red cows dad. What Red bulls do you use. .
Jan doesn't keep up with their names. Neline has said that Ranger Red is one of bulls that they use.
Just an FYI for other viewers: the Dutch, aka Netherlands, are the second largest exporter of food behind the US. And Jan’s family are from Holland (another name for this in incredible country). We should all be shocked and we should stand up to the WEF and government of Holland that is FORCING the closure of thousands of farms in Holland (as a means to reduce nitrogen and other climate change related chemicals). They need our support, as do the farmers in Canada (also under attack by the Justin Trudeau government) as we are in a food crises mode in the world. Poor nations will starve first, if they don’t plan to go to war over food. God bless your family Jan, as the world needs you.
Not sure what I heard, but an amp meter is actually called an “ammeter”. Odd, our English language.
The full, correct name is Ampere meter (capitalized). But often abbreviated as Ampmeter or even Ammeter in casual, mumbled conversation.
is your new bull is red and white as well?
Probably not. He's just a cleanup bull to take care of any open heifers that the AI has missed. A Red Holstein bull would be a lot more expensive.
@@MellowYe77ow he did mention in other videos that his mom likes red Holstein, was just curious if he got the red one, its surprising that red one would be expensive than the black one, and i do like red red one also 😀
What favor do you owe Miriam for doing the outro in previous video.....🤔
Maybe he'll do one for a video of hers -- possibly on top of a horse, or sitting with a goat kid in his lap!
Wrong sister.... you're thinking of Naline.... they do look alike....
...can you wear your cowboy hat in one video? 😂😂😂
🚜 🚜 🚜🐄🐄🐄🐄 🚜 🚜🚜
@1:38. How does the pit keep it from spoiling?
It's underground and thus cool, plus if it's used up in 4 days or so, not much chance of spoiling. And spoiling is like fermenting, which what most feed (sileage) is anyway -- cows' multiple stomachs can handle that fine.
@@timothymbonham4453 thanks
Good video.
