- In this bumper mini series I rescue this very rare right hand drive Panhard Dyna Z 16 from a 48 year slumber in a barn, really up against it from the start, a true Barnfind!
You can see part one & two straight away as they're both uploaded and available now.

Nahhh come on man, this is the kind of project that will help the channel flourish. Straight out of a barn where it sat for 50 years, people love that stuff.
We'll take another view on it, one more episode and we'll see what she's like underneath!
@@tastyclassics Brilliant, I was just about to comment that it would have been nice to view the underneath.👍👍
@@tastyclassics Panhardinateur channel has a stripped down of the engine from one off these. Albeit in French.
I love this one. I think you should do your best and get it roadworthy again.
@@paultinker1963 he did! Keep watching the series. :)
Another bloke with a beard performing an amazing resurrection at Easter !! I can't believe it's happened twice . Simply awe inspiring 😲😲
Thanks Mark I hope you liked it!
He is Jesus our saviour 😮😅😊😂😂😂
I can't remember not having long beard myself except when in service I see guys with dark beards seems like another lifetime when mine wasn't gray white lol brother did good job for sure
Never seen a Panhard and now I’ve seen it twice in one day. Who’d have thought that?
It’s such a pretty car, if I had the facilities then I’d love something like this.
Haha it's absolutely beautiful isn't it I love it ❤️
Much has been said already… just one word MAGNIFICENT! Well done, really enjoyed this series!
Thank you!
It definitely is very very rare and unusual and scarce in my opinion and definitely deserves to be restored, I wouldn’t mind sitting there and with a book and manuals and glasses and cups of tea and eventually a mig welder and doing it , it’s really quirky for sure. It reminds me of the soviet era cars of the 50’s.
Very unique especially in the UK
Rhd too was a big surprise!
loved the two videos well done getting the old girl mobile i really do hope she will get restored one day
Maybe another video in her yet let's take a view!
I remember these cars on the roads. Always loved them.
I'd never seen one before until I saw this
I was in Spain in the summer of 67. I had recently arrived from central Africa, and holidaying in Spain was amazing, It was the cars that thrilled me. The Panhards mostly the new PL17s, Citroen's, Renaults and Peugeot,Seats, Fiat's and Simcas. Not many English cars nor American. For a young car lover, Spain was a total delight.
I see the remains of a Stick on Number plate on that bonnet , Funny how the number plate numbers add up to 16 and the EV reference is quite fitting !!
Gorgeous ,
3472 Elegant Voiture !!
great spot!
My dad had a Panhard PL-17 when I was a kid. That was the first car I ever drove.
Just freakin awesome! Id love you to do some more recommissioning work on this before moving it on - it has certainly earned it fight for survival! This car is cool as........a massive thumbs up from me! 👍👍
Excellent thank you! We'll do another episode on it and we'll take a view from there
Amazing resurrection! Was never expecting you to manage a drive in it so soon. Can see a lot of 2cv in the mechanicals
Absolutely it's such a well engineered little thing
Its an enhanced aircooled 2 cyl engine with roller bearing crankshaft! Much more complicated and powerful than a 2CV!
Amazing results Ben&Rob if there ever was a car that wants to live aging it will let you know she's letting everyone know all thanks to you lads 👍
A beautiful car. I really hope it gets saved, it deserves it, it wants to live.
Thanks for load upp this and the earlier video. The Dyna Panhard is one of my favourite cars. I just Love the testdrive LOL.
That thing is so bloody quirky it's cool! Cheers from Alberta, Canada!
Just like here in the US two friends working n a old car vary cool, oak up at 3:30 an and your sh was on I love it all the way cross the pond ....
Very impressive. There are quite a few occasions I would have given up were it my project.
A fabulous couple of hours of watching! I’d love to wave a magic wand & watch you restore her - you have so many gifts & she really is in the best place!
thank you Lestyn I might give it another look and we will see together!
I'm gutted you didn't keep it as I would have loved to see you getting it back on the road. I totally get it though, there is only so many hours in the day. Excellent work Sir!
I'd give that poor starter a medal for bravery. I feel a London to Brighton coming on. You gotta drive it to a car wash as is for the laugh.
Stellar job cheers from Holland Michigan
Once again I've just spent the best part of 3 hours watching a bloke I've never met, fixing a rusty car I've never heard of......... And I can't wait for the next one 🤣
Haha brilliant cheers Phill!
Avant garde is the real term for these cars, everybody is always talking about Citroen DS, but look at this, the curvy body work to cheat the wind, aluminium bumpers and other trim to keep the weight down, they fitted many switches at the top of the steering column to be easily accessible, the stalks on either side of the steering column was also quite an innovation but FWD, an 850cc flat twin engine that comes "alive" when you press the accelerator, but the most important thing about the Z series is that my brother was almost born in one ( a lila coloured Tigre with tiger print upholstery), my mom absolutely hated that car but till his death my father always claimed it was the best driver's car he ever owned.
Thanks
Fantastic
You really need to do this car justice, I can't believe it ran, do it buddy please
Washing itwas my favorite bit
Oh, and the suitably froggie musac fits nicely too.
Awesome save !! ya should play in goal for England nice one 😁👍🇬🇧
Really really well done (again) Ben (and team) - she absolutely deserves a second chance, and, by the way she awoke from her slumber, seems to want one too!! Looking at the outdo shots, she doesn’t actually (stealing from part 1, which absolutely cracked me up) ‘look so fcuked’ 😂
Also super happy that you’ve ticked over the 10k subscribers - with projects like this I have no doubt you’ll be factoring that by 10 very very quickly.
Please keep ‘em comin’
JCHK
Thanks John!
That is a thing of beauty, would love to see it restored, too good to scrap.
well done guys refreshing to see down to earth blokes doing what they like awesome job keep them coming all the best
Amazing outcome. Hopefully this little gem will find someone just as passionate to bring it back to life. Thanks for another great video series!
Loved these two videos, hats off to you mate. 29:40 😅😅😅😅😅😅
Haha thanks Neil!
A panhard dyna is a really cool car
I absolutely love this car! Anyone who would part it out is an idiot. I don't know you, I just found this channel but I'd think keeping this would be a no brainer! It's far more interesting than a Mini, there's tons of those.
Fair play to ye for getting the car running after 48 yrs 👏 👌 👍🏻 🙌 😊
My boy MY BOY
This could be another piece of history restored thanks to you Ben. It would be such a shame to see it broken up or even scrapped after all your efforts to get it started and running. Even if it's not economic to do a full restoration maybe a local engineering college or uni could have it for students to learn about how to work on vehicles
it's worth enough that it will get back on the road, a bit too old and unusual for an educational piece really
@Ambivalent Onion repairs to bodywork, welding, painting , repairing upholstery etc needs to be learnt on any vehicle any age I would have thought????
@@leshackett3687 yes but it's so rare that it wouldn't be suitable and mechanically there isn't much too carry on to new vehicles (just look at that engine and brake setup, they're much better off getting cars that are about to get scrapped which i belive is what they do and they wouldn't be interested in this
can see where the designs came from for the bumper cars at the fairground.
Yeah it's like an MG Magnette
Such a piece of lovely French automotive styling. Hope it gets restored by someone. Great content Ben your channel is just brilliant!
Cheers Richard i'll take another view on I think!
Mathewsons auctions sell lots of classics-might be an option
Welcome to eppisode 2 huge sight ah great 😂😂😂
One of the best "will it run" videos I've seen in ages, love it !
Really impressive so far - Engine sounds perfect after 48 years! You have committed serious crimes against hanging basket plants though, will this issue be rectified? 😀
I'm on it!
I love this car! Were it mine, I'd call it "The Dung Beetle". Please take it farther.
Excellent and interesting find, would've liked to have seen it on the car lift so we could see what it looks like underneath though.
Next episode I think we will
What a sweet little car...looks like a blue platypus. Please keep and restore this treasure. I recently saw Jay Leno - also on CZcams - drive a similar Panhard. He praised the car highly. RESTORE AND KEEP THIS BEAUTY!
Really enjoyed watching this come back to life. Keep up the good work 👍
Another great video, really enjoyed this one, keep up the good work,Jim.
Fairplay lad keeping the vintage cars alive love the videos keep it up 👍😁
This was super nice! Greetings from Holland.
Thank you for posting this video. Amazed that you got the engine running, and the clean up was strangely satisfying!
Wicked top notch content. I’m glad I stumbled on your channel. Really good and you have a new uk sub right here. Lots of great videos on cars I loved as a youngster. 👌🏼
Cheers mate glad to be of service!
absolument brillant!
You have got great patience guys brilliant video
Quality always shines through .
Totally incredible!! That was a totally amazing accomplishment! Applause!!
I really enjoyed part 2 awesome keep up the great work cheers.
She is a lovely thing.. and I am glad you restored some of her dignity.. with a good scrubbing! Cheers from Texas!
More fantastic content Ben. Such a rarity to find one in right hand drive. Really can't be many others.
Another very enjoyable watch, beautiful shape to the car, would love to see it brought back to its former beauty, hopefully someone will take the reigns.Brilliant work!
I would love a car like this in my dreams! enjoyed your video thanks guys all best!
Just found your channel and what a couple of cracking videos on the little Panhard.
Extremely rare car in RHD and one you will definitely regret selling in the years to come.
I say spend some quality time on the mechanical side of her, brakes, fluids, filters and throw the gear cable in a trough of diesel and let her soak for a couple of days, she'll come around you'll see.
Liked & subscribed👍👍👍
Looks like a very pedestrian friendly car.
Haha you could definitely catch a few with it!
Brilliant loved watching this and such a refreshing change to see something thats rare and not just the mass populas blue oval junk.
Very entertaining especially the "bush-mechanic" solutions.
I would love to get near this with one of those laser rust removers! epic videos btw :)
You seem to be restoring all my late father's cars. The Panhard was his second car (after a heinkel bubble car). It was his favourite car to drive, but the engine had a habit of blowing. He said the only time it ran perfectly was in France, where parts were much cheaper and available.......the engine blew again as he left the ferry at Dover!
Cool car, cool video. Thanks.
A very chic car! My late father had one when he lived in London in the '60s and I'm sure they were a rare sight then. This is the second one I've seen this year- the first being banger raced at Aldershot a month ago, sad to see. I do hope that yours lives on. Thanks for the memories.
such a stylish car, I love it
Toysty (:instead of Tasty) the Pan hard looked like a baby blue whale with barnacles,,lol glad it runs well,,old cars,,no matter if the sit for decades they will revive,,,you bet you've got a subscriber from New York City,USA
"Doesnt it drive nicely" 😂😂 killed me, great work
Like the English vice grip garage 👍👍
He's trying to be but Derek is more entertaining. Hopefully he will develop and grow his channel. There aren't many in the U.K.and to find a right hooker is a rare beast. It should be restored but it's not for the faint hearted and it will never be worth a fortune so it's one for the enthusiasts.
I really hope that car gets to go back on the road, I would take it on, but like you I got alot going on with my car collection
Loving the “resurrection “, 😎, it was also nice for president Zelenksy to take 5 minutes out of the war zone to help out too 😄
haha!
Exciting project, you guys have undertaken something very special. Is the body made of aluminium? The first Panhard from this series had an aluminium body. When we were kids, we had a broken Panhard like that in the garden to play with (Jura-mountains).
Aluminium?! Can't you see the rust all over it?
i want see you ride this
fantastic car ..well done
If I had the money I'd snap it up and would just clear coat the paintwork, it's a survivor and deserves to be on the road and around the shows with a shed load of pics and the story of the car, whoever buys it please let it live and fly down the road!!!
What's a transformation, hope somebody will restore it?
I will have another look at it next week on the ramp and do a video and we can all see what it would take, I would love to get it back on the road
29:36 'it's mot exempt officer'
id say this car mon dur trie bon ,great work to get her going and driveing ,had to do that string through the sun roof on a sdi i had ,it snapped in borth wales on a sunday afternoon at 4,40pm ,no were open to try and find one,so 3 of us used our para boots laces tied together and ran it through the sun roof, got us back to bham no problem
Haha excellent, needs must!
Some T-Cut and a microfiber cloth' SORTED.
first time eye balling a panhard it’s brilliant, i can just see it on an episode of Allo Allo 😂 brilliant couple of vids as always👍🏼
it's incredible! would be amazing seeing it restored one day; more fun, dare I say, worthy than a Mini or Morris?
The internet wants you to keep it. 😊
Time to give Ian a call from hubnut I think because french! wat a beautiful car it's turned out to be
Beatiful car🥰👍👍
Mmm mmm good, Tasty
I really hope that gets a proper resto by somebody!
Now you know what's underneath all that grime, I suggest you give it a 5 gallon gasolene overhaul. I think the premium gas would work quite well.
I love it beautifull economical car should be back on the road👍
If you like this shape of car (I do) hire about finding a British car like the Austin A40 mouse? Now that would be a great project!
Hmmm wonder what it would cost to get it to South Australia coz I bloody love that thing!
If someone takes that on it could be a wow at car shows. Maybe it'll be best left with that patina rather than being re-painted.
You took the words out of my mouth! I will do my best to get her back on the road as she is
