    YOU DO NOT need to smoke to get COPD... its a major misconception.

      BUT it's a major player and speeds up the damage. I quit nearly 20 years a go. It was HARD AS HELL but I did it.

    So many environmental factors...but direct toxic smoke to your lungs is a huge factor , you cannot possibly deny that

    I can relate, Mr. Spock. I have COPD, too. I quit smoking 5 years ago and have stopped the progression of the damage for the moment. However, I believe it does get you in the end. Good luck and live long and prosper.

    Back in the 60's the girls at my school thought Spock was hot. They said he acted more like a real man than humans! LOL! Me, I thought Babara Eden was a +20 on a scale of `1-10. She was smoking hot!

    Leonard Nimoy....could have had a cure close for he's fellow Copd sufferers....you don't wake up one day and have COPD is years....he could have saved lives...I would have tried...he had so many fans who would have donated FOR HIM....I'm disillusioned with him....sad.

    Quit smoking and good things begin to happen within the first hour. Your sinuses begin to clear and your sense of smell improves. Your ability to taste improves. Give it a decade and your lungs begin to heal and your chances of getting any kind of smokers-related cancers radically decrease.

    I'm from Brazil and that is my first video without any kind of caption. And I understand Nimoy almost 100% - without any minute of an English course of language lol. Maybe I have seen too much Star Trek - TOS ... lol Thanks Leonard, and good luck with your treatment.
    Greetings from Brazil to all fans, forgive my poor English, I am just exercising.

      Your English is perfect. I'm college educated in the United States, having 4 semesters of English, making mostly B's. I detected no errors, even punctuation! Gratulations. English is hard, mainly because we have so many inconsistencies, and also there is no set way to say anything. In college, I also had 3 semesters of German. Now THERE is a language with a lot of consistencies. Also, if you hear a German word, 9 out of 10 times you can spell it. I could rattle on forever, but congratulations on your English mastery! Now it's time to expand your VOCUBULARY. In English, vocabulary expansion is a seemingly endless endeavor. Keep up the good work. Learning English can be very rewarding. 😉

    sure, he quit for 30 years but the guy smoked close to 2 packs a day for 40 years and I am sure when he quit he was already showing signs of COPD symptoms like coughing and wheezing... this just doesn't catch up to you 30 years later, in fact, 20 years after quitting smoking his lungs should have returned to the condition of a nonsmoker's.

      When a person is diagnosed with copd in their 50's they live for about 10 to 15 years. Spock is 82. It is more likely he'll die of old age. he lived a full life, dont be sad

      Polydynamix yes, if he was younger....and more advancements have came out since his death....in was 83 the average age for a US mail to live is 78.8 years....so.....he did pretty good.

    Live long and prosper by not spending hundreds of dollars each year -- thousands over a lifetime -- smoking cigarettes. True, certain varieties of tobacco are excellent for companion planting in flower/vegetable gardens, and of course extract of tobacco is useful against herbivores. But you're not supposed to *smoke* it!!!

    If you can get COPD 30 years after you quit smoking you might as well just keep smoking. I don't buy it. There are two many environmental and behavioral variables involved to say that this was caused by smoking. GMO's aspartame, lack of exercise, amalgam fillings, yoga mats in your food. The anti-smokers are nuts.

    • @Lokim23
      @Lokim23 Před 10 lety +2

      Thats cute you think you can get COPD from yoga mats...

      The whole 'you might as well keep doing ____" mentality is what is going to destroy the world in the end. Maybe you should quit that. Doesn't anyone have a sense of honor and way-of-life anymore?

    There is more time devoted to this distraction than a real issue, like the TPP trade agreement. This is crap. I mean, Spock is cool, but I came here for news. This is more like People Magazine, or something. Thpbfpbfpbfpbfth.
