@@satsumamoon it all boils down to yarn and needle size, pattern, skill and experience level and time you have available to actually sit and work on socks.......as well as the mental fortitude to knit on something as stab-your-eyes-out boring as sox.....of which I have none. Those coasters are absolutely gorgeous! I'm learning to crochet right now and to combat that fear at least somewhat, I am only using machine washable yarns (lucky for me, I also just love the way cotton feels on my skin) But also, something I try to keep in mind with any crochet project that is meant for use or wear: Stains and other signs of wear and tear are just proof that the item has been loved and appreciated, instead of wasting away in a closet never to be seen.
Good attitude! I make kippot which are worn nearly constantly. I give careful laundry instructions but always worry that they will stretch the kippah completely out of shape. I get mostly repeat clients, so I guess I build tanks, lol!
Aw lol I'd crochet this adorable piece and not care if something spills. I'd wash it periodically anyway since I use cotton blends. To me it's meant to be used and enjoyed. I love the flower pot idea!!

As a german...I tell you she is making fun of the typical "elderly german grandma-behaviour" to be careful with the "fancy things" (like pottery, table sheets, whatever). Elderly people hardly ever use the fancy things, because hey are considered to be for special occasions....which are never special enough to occur....😂
@@alexasophieridderstrom2631I think many elderly people are like that. In my culture everyone basically has the same dark wood and glass cabinet that gets handed down. The china in there is only for staring at.
