As a dude of Oz, his current MK11 accent sounds far more Australian than the old one, though most Aus accents originate from British accents to a degree.

I love Kano. He knows he's a terrible, evil person. He knows he's hated by just about everybody in the series. And he doesn't give a FUCK. He owns it. His entire attitude, how slippery he is, and that Australian accent.

-Awesome Video! About time Kano gets more recognition! I'm a HUGE Kano fan and this was very satisfying for me to watch!
-It's unfortunate that Kano mainly became a jobber for the Heroes. Going through his history, he actually was involved in so much! It's a shame because a lot of hit notable action were "off screen" but were all very important to the story. Villains NEED Love too!
-I never looked at Kano as a Main Antagonist/Villain, but he has always been a thorn in the Heroes side. He along with his Black Dragon cohorts have a lot of potential to have a really great story, as a side story/sub plot to the MK Universe.
-Finally his MK11 version was his best version yet. Although his death was lackluster for me in the sense that it seemed that it was rushed and a 1-sided fight that favored Sonya. Don't get me wrong, his actual death was awesome, very fitting for his character. But Sonya beating 2 Kano's who barely got any offense in (Cutscene wise). Where was the threat? Where was the, "Oh shit, Sonya might actually lose here" moment? This was a missed opportunity for NRS to have Older Kano pretty much DESTROY young Sonya bc Older Kano knows all of younger Sonya's moves (Give it up Baby, I know all your Move - A nod to the 1st film)! This would have made the stakes high for Sonya and have made Kano a credible threat that he's always been on paper, but now we're finally getting to see it!
I always hated playing as Kano. MK11 made me use him regularly now. They made him a great fighter and he was despicable in the story. He's a villain you love to hate.
I like Kano's mask and how easy it is to dislike him. Kano is like Ricky Spanish but in MK.

People hate Kano, because he's a DAMN good heel. Like you WANT to see him get killed....Kinda like Quan Chi in MKX.
Something cool I've not seen a lot of people mention. In MK11, Kano has an eyepiece called "Jacks Epic Eye" which is probably a reference to jacksepticeye!

I like how there was tons of Kano rep shortly after MK11, by having him be a major character in the new reboot movie (and him practically taking Johnny's place as the comic relief), and then the animated Snowblind movie showing us the aftermath of his MK11 ending.
I was never a huge fan of Kano, in a matter of fact I wasn’t fan of villains, however I loved his design in MK11 and I started to love him as I found him to be charismatic in this version of Mortal kombat to become my number 1 favorite fighter

Haha, that's interesting because everyone in the US just assumed he was Australian so now he is. Since the 90s, MK fans over here have always seen him as Australian thanks to the movie.

They did Kano really dirty just because he's a villain. He's one of the coolest characters in mk, yet like many other villains in mk he's useless because god forbid should the good guys ever lose.

His fighting style is so cool and his character is always a hired goon and I love it.
The original MK movie is actually pretty good and established a lot of characterizations and lore that eventually became canon.The sequel, however, has only unintentional comedic value.
Very much so, it had a huge effect on the future lore of the series. And yea...I can't think of anything the sequel contributed to haha
Trevor Goddard definitely made Kano better, but before that Kano was always cool to me.
My favorite appearence of Kano has to be from Deadly Alliance.

There’s the bad guys that everybody likes, there are bad guys who are legit badasses, and then there’s bad guys who are scum and that’s Kano 😂😂
The only problem I have with Kano is that he's always shown as a powerful villain, but it's somehow difficult to treat him seriously, when all he does in the story is getting beaten up by everybody.
Part of what makes Kano so entertaining is that he so unapologetically bad/evil that it allows them to go over the top with his moves and dialog. I did thino he was Australian in the movie when I was a kid back when it came out, probably because it was during the brief Aussie craze here in the states and his scenes wirh the knife wete reminiscent of Crocodile Dundee. As an adult watching it a couple years ago O recognized it as Cockney not Aussie. I did read somewhere, maybe the MK wiki, that he was supposed to be Australian in the movie and Trevor did the wrong accent, maybe it was misinterpreted by the makers of the movie as well as the audience. I don't know which version is true, remember Arnold played a Russian in 1 or 2 of his movies wothout changing his accent, and I can believer either the audience not recognizing the accent properly or the wrong accent was used theories.

As someone from England I always though that he was Australian, he sounded Australian I the original film. This is the first time I've heard that Kano was supposed to be Cockney, he doesn't sound it.

Funny to hear people dont like this guy, im new to the franchise, and was IMMEDIATELY drawn to him the second he came on screen (mk11 being my first game, so seeing young and old him was pretty cool) i originally was into the game for baraka, but he unexpectedly caught my eye due to his personality, and look, and dirty fighting style, reminds me of Billy Butcher but better, i fuckin love him, not even a love to hate type character, he's genuinely just great, maybe his lore will change my mind but i doubt it, he's a living embodiment of a rat and im all for it, especially as some who comes from tekken as a Bryan player, having another dirty cyborg makes me feel right at home

I used to hate kano. Like ALOT. Playing him, playing against him, everything. Then i played him in MK11. The first time i saw the intro i thought "oh ya gonna hate him here too". But i ended up loving his gameplay, and eventually the other aspects of him. Except that 1st intro. Never equipped that one after getting the other ones lol
Same exact story here. I always hated playing as him but when MK11 came out he became one of my main characters. They really improved him from the ground up in 11.
I'm English, from what I've heard he sounds slightly South African. Cockney is a bit more "rubbery" sounding, whereas he has more of a "stop-start" motion to it. Cockney sounds brash, but flexible, with vowels often elongated. South African is a "stabbier" vowel sound. Could be because I'm from the superior land in the North that I'm not hearing it how a Londoner would.

Haha Aussie here, as I kid I thought it was a strange accent was familiar but different.
Most cockney accents will get confused with Australian accents when it’s in a diverse cast (non English) due to people thinking of a English accent as proper British whereas cockney is very slang driven similar to Australian.
Interestingly a lot of English/Cockney people though Charlie Hunnam sounded more Aussie in Green Street Hooligans

Isn't it weird that the Mk special forces comes before MK 1 through armageddon , but Jax has cybernetic arms throughout special forces, but had regular arms in the first few games?
Was waiting for someone to bring that up lol. Story reason: Jax wears metallic covers over his arms (I guess?). Real reason: Development of that game was an absolute disaster from start to finish and they didn't care about it anymore.
Wonder why Jax had metal arms in Special Forces if it took a place between 1-2 since Jax didn’t show up until MK2 and he had regular arms and then metal arms in MK3.
That's a common plothole that gets brought up lol. Story Reason: in the classic universe they were more like accessories he would wear, and then later he replaced his arms with them. In the rebooted universe they were also replacement arms. Real life reason: Development of Special Forces was a mess and they barely cared about the game lol.
