  • My first surf on my 6' Cymatic.
    I LOVE it, I also have a 6' Omni and a 5'11" Evo,
much better in these waves than the Omni,
The Evo has been the best board I have owned in years if not ever, HOWEVER after 1 surf on the Cymatic, I love this even more !!!
Evo projects through turns where the Cymatic can pivot 1/2 way through a turn.
watch the cut backs on this movie and then compare them to the cutbacks on 'My Evo Movie' and you can see the extra speed in the rebound. • My Evo Movie
As you can see I didn't want to come in, pitch black at night!!!
More videos to come hopefully in better waves.

I love the surf till dark! You look like your 100% adapted to the Tomo trip now. Especially considering that was your first surf on it 0: STOKED!!!

Sold my 2-3 year old Omni today after watching your Cymatic movie a few more times. 5'9" Cymatic enters the quiver next month... I loved the Omni in Bowly surf or tube riding but just rarely connected turns properly on it as a daily driver in our typical wave quality. I judge a board by the way I feel when I get back to the beach, If I'm 100% surf stoked after nearly every surf, then the board becomes a part of the quiver for many years. Chumlee Evo Mini-Driver Seaxe are all keepers for me. I hope the Cymatic will become my HPSB for years to come :)
I can see the way the Cymatic moves under your feet that the rocker is forgiving enough for me to enjoy and that tail is giving you all sorts of points to turn from and that being your first surf on it, that then shows how instinctively user friendly it is! Those two things stand out to me as awesome ways to gain control over the QIDC bottom shape which looks to be just as the "rocketship hoovercraft" fast as the Evo, which I also consider to be the best board I've ever had as a daily driver!

I want to sell my Omni as well, No need for it here really. 5'9" sick, what do you weigh? I got the 6' as pushing 87kg and am only getting out once a week if that at the moment!

I'm 82kg these days... and the wrong side of fifty. I've found that 35 odd liters is my sweet spot for Tomo hulls, I ride much more in some other boards and I do have a thing for surfing different types of boards for different types of waves.
We have had an incredible run of good surf the last couple of months, I'm calling most consistent Autumn ever, which has meant life was put on hold and I've been surfing 5-6 days a week. On average though we only get a "couple a days every couple a weeks" weather cycles.

I'm keen for your thoughts on the Omni vs the Cymatic. I am 48yrs, 85kg inter/advanced and have had three Omni 5'6"s over 18mths (construction is average at best, rail splits, fin inserts (FCSII2) come loose and leak, EPS is a sponge). Love them to death in anything over chest high with a bit of push. Last Omni failed 2 weeks ago and eyeing up a Cymatic. What do think is the diff between the two? Cymatic looks loose in the vid, looser than the Omni? How does the volume compare?

What’s your height and weight? Are you happy with the 6’?

I've owned 4 tomos and they need to be ridden as short as possible. This guy has oversized this board. It's holding him back and making him nurse turns and draw really long arcs which puts him off time a bit .
Multiply you body weight in kg x 0.36-0.40 that will give you a range . I'm 85kg and ride a 5.6 evo and it's such a good board

@@jimzzful I multiplied your weight by .38 and got 32.3. What does that number mean? Is that the best liters for you?

Riding as a thruster or a quad setup?

  • @jimzzful

This board too big for ya I've owned 4 tomos and they need to be surfed short. Multiply your body weight in kg x 0.36-0.40 for your range and you will never look back. Anything over that is just holding back your progress. You can surf don't Get me wrong but it's hard to watch a keen surfer getting held back. Peace

I just did this and mine is perfect for my cymatic 5’7, only had one surf on it in big shifty beach break, frothing to get into some runners

No disrespect intended, but you sort of surf like those inflatable dancing men in used car-lots.
