Words English Speakers Say WRONG! & MY Pronunciation Fail 🤦🏻♀️

- Some English words are hard to pronounce! So much so that native speakers say them wrong too! Although you might think native speakers are perfect, we're not! (See my EPIC lifelong pronunciation fail in this lesson!) 😅
Perfect pronunciation doesn't exist & our idea of what is "right" and what is "wrong" is biased anyway!
Clear communication should be your goal, not perfection!
So, let's practise!

Exactly, my sentiments. Fluency is much better than accuracy. Some non-native speakers are so good at grammar yet they cannot use it to communicate effectively; thus, rendering their learning more difficult. I'd say it's much better if you focus first on fluency and then on accuracy. When you master fluency, learning other things like correct pronunciation, accent, and grammar is much easier.
Emma, you're intelligent and beautiful english teacher. Watching your videos is a learning process for non-english speakers.
She is the best English teacher.
I love to learn ENGLISH with you Emma ❤
Awesome, Dan!
I love Emma, Shes pretty

I'm happy to receive notifications from your channel twice a week! I learned it again!
So special inspiring teacher, THANK u so much Emma. 💐
I often hear people say pacific when they mean specific and pacificly instead of specifically.
1:58 Pronunciation, 2:15 Pronounce 3:31 Regime. 4:28 Status. 5:05 Picture, 5:23 Pitcher. 5:43 Quasi. 7:16 Spherical, 7:22 Sphere. 7:58 Ask . 8:54 Espresso. 9:20 Especially. 9:45 Athlete. 11:45 Supposed, Supposedly. With regards, Mriganka.
Emma, I want to say that you're a teacher with a difference. This is because it's quite rare for teachers to accept their mistake. But you accepted and confessed yours in a public space, that you've been pronouncing the prefix Quazi wrongly for your entire life. Indeed you're down to earth in your dealings. I love you for that.
In my native dialect, sometimes we also mispronounce words in our native tongue. So, I don't think that just because we are native speakers of our own language, we are perfect in everything. I also read an article where a native speaker, who is a national TV news anchor, kept mispronouncing the word 'heroin' until he said, according to his story, that someone angrily shouted at him for mispronouncing the word. I feel bad for the people who have misconceptions about being 'native' as perfect in everything.
If you also ask me in my native language to explain why we say some words or let me explain grammar in my native language ---- sometimes, I have to pause and think hard about why we say such words because, in the first place, I have never thought about it and doesn't care to even bother thinking about it. I will say, just follow how I say it. That's it. No wonder most native speakers of the English language focus more on fluency than accuracy because why do they have to think about their language. Just like me, why do I have to explain everything to you especially the grammar of my native language. It's hard to explain grammar in my native language, well --- it's not really hard but I'm too lazy to think hard about WHY we say such and WHY we pronounce such in our language.
Thanks for your helpful information
I love your teaching, energy, beautiful smile:) thank you so much:)
Hy Emma. I have been followiing your youtube videos for a long time. Your accent is so clear and your voice is excellent. Greetings from Turkey.
Thank you very much, Emma! I adore your lessons and your accent as well!
Your channel is good and teaches us better
You've just build a confidence in me in this lesson in my pronunciation. I admire your humility to accept that even the native speakers pronounce some words wrong and you inclusive. It interest me to know that there is no one way to pronounce a word perfectly provided you are understood. While l work on my pronunciation, l am confident to speak publicly without fear. This is the inspiration l've gotten from this lesson. Thanks
Quasi,Regime and Athlete surprised me very much as I had been mispronouncing, too. I'm an intermediate English speaker and I always find your lesson damn helpful whenever I watch your channel. I'm so into you, dear miss Emma. Stay safe.☺❤

Hello Emma My name is Leobardo! You are Teacher very wonderful! My favorite Channel is Mmmm Emma English! I learn English! Thanks for your videos! I miss you!!! Greetings from Mexico!!!
Every lesson is helpful
Emma is the best!
As a language lover here (fortunate to have been raised in four of them - obviously too naive to understand our luck at the time), brilliant the pronunciation videos posted here. Why? Bc practical! Very good understanding you have of the different English spoken in everyday life depending on context and location. Yep, a language is fluid. Ironically, we were discussing ‘quasi’ earlier this week. Used mostly as quasi-governmental agency/organisation around here. And we’ll have to pay more attention to our word ‘proNUNciation’. But great way to start off the video ... Sister Emma.
Hi Emma,
Appreciate your efforts.
Thank you.
Thank Manish! Nice to see you again :)
@@mmmEnglish_Emma Thank you Emma.

Oh, this is SO useful! Thanks a lot! Even tough, as a native Italian speaker, I find that the mispronunciation of quasi sounds more latin! 😉

Hello madam Emma ,Thanks for sharing with us this wonderful lesson and have a fantastic weekend!
Hi Emma much more love and respect...your way of teaching is wonderful and helped me alot.....I have no word to say thanks...
Just one thing confusing me one of my friends told me there is difference in pronunciation of Australian and British pronunciation....and I don't what and how they are different...hope one day you will explain this for me....
Hi Emma i❤ this lessons thank you for your pronunciation 👍👍
A simple rule... Vowel at the end of the syllable makes its long sound.... G becomes soft when followed by vowels i e y. it sounds like ja... Love your lessons Ms. Em.. Tnx
