  • A tiny satellite, dubbed KySat-2, built by students at the University of Kentucky and Morehead State University is orbiting about 300 miles above the Earth, circling the planet every 90 minutes or so at speeds close to 18,000 mph.
Produced by Research Communications at the University of Kentucky.

The best way to think about it is the amount of movement in terms of field of view. If you walk through a hallway while looking at the wall things will go by very quickly and you won't be able to focus on them. If you drive a car through a valley at highway speeds though, the sides of the valley will be easily seen. The satellites are 500 km up so the same principle applies.

Kinda thought they meant the country, not the university. By the way, you guys can pay a company to hitch a ride to space (a science project), thats what these guys did (note they mentioned their strict weight limit); there are other limits like size, battery size (must not have an initial charge), signals you can use et cetera. If you guys choose to send something to space, note that although you are usually sent to LEO (Low Earth Orbit), nowhere near the geosynchronous orbit that the satilite you're hitching a with is going, you might still need to radiation shield your design.
Last note, the orbit your sat is sent at usually decays in a few weeks to a month at most (might not be worth the high price tag).
Edit: It should be noted that in YT mobile, channel names currently aren't shown in the recommended feed.

And about secrets... they could put you behind a monitor with a few numbers and text changing back and forth, without you knowing what moves the data. Think about it... those space x launches, the show you the employees indoors looking up. But they never show you the gigantic screens or screens they are looking up at. It's a more complicated than secretive. Employees have access cards to go exactly where the need to be. NDA's would be strictly enforced in these kind of situations. Nasa shows you picture of a ball neil de grasse tells you it's pear shaped because of gravity and, you need a fisheye lens on a camera to show you a curve. What is it now?
