Petta burned the bread on purpose to give to her because he knew she was starving. His mother beat him for it and told him to take the burned bread and feed the pigs. He tossed her some bread. Peeta learns how to really play the game early on. He uses his real weapons, his likeablity personality and his big brain to get people to go along with him.

31:41 No accent, his name is “Peeta” like the flat bread, cause he comes from a family of bakers.

They do win money, what happens when you win is you get so much money (basically endless amount), and you suppose to not get called again, and you live rest or you’re life in “peace” however when you win you go back the next year as a mentor and coach the new people who were picked the next year.

The point of the games is intimidation of the districts - to keep them in line after a rebellion/civil war 74-75 years ago killed millions, but ultimately lost. Each district has a focus: coal, crops, lumber, fishing, hydroelectric power, military, etc. the Capital is where the rich live and benefit from it all… and most there(like Effie) have been raised to believe it’s the proper order. You could tell she really believed that propaganda video at the beginning.
Haymitch drinks so much not only because he won/survived the Hunger Games 25 years ago, but also because he’s had to mentor 2 kids a year who have always died.
Katniss’ tender treatment of Rue during the games and especially after her death emphasized the horrible tragedy and loss caused by the this totalitarian regime and the Hunger Games.
The book series is excellent & well worth reading.

    I'm glad you liked it.
There are 4 films to tell the whole story from the 3 books.
It is the 74th year of the Hunger Games. People are used to it happening every year. It is like the Superbowl to them.
His name is Peeta which is a takeoff on pita bread since he comes from a family of bakers. All the names are odd. Katniss, Peeta, Rue, Primrose, Cato.

I know it’s unfair for the game makers to interfere with the game but thru the years they have learned that they have to press the tributes to end the game bc they have had years where the remaining tributes will just spread out and wait. So it would make the game last way too long. Also the games are supposed to be for entertaining the capital and only that. It something the game makers can come up with that stands out from the years before they will do it. The people in the capital are quickly bored and will stop watching and the goal is to keep them watching. Outdoing the year before.

So I just found your channel cuz this was suggested for me and then I see you've also watched at least one Harry Potter so I got to watch you watch that butt I've read all the books and watched all the movies and both of those series there are a lot more differences that bother me in the Harry Potter series in The hunger games series and it's mostly physical appearances that bother me in the other one because it's such a big part of who certain characters are especially Harry for instance in the books he had black hair and green eyes and they kept beating us over the head with just like his dad except he has his mother's eyes but then they don't give him either of those things in the movies yet they still say he looks just like his daddy yet he has his mother's eyes yes they gave him brown hair and blue eyes and that would be fine if they change the appearance of his parents but they didn't they just made them about twice the age they would have been when they died
Okay as for hunger games it's never told throughout the series exactly when it's happeningbut based on the fact this is set in North America in the United States in the future when it has a different name and the technology involved it's a minimum of 200 years in the future but yeah the poor districts do look like they're about a hundred years in the past one of the biggest differences in The hunger games series that I can recall from the books to movies is what happened to Gail in the second movie The beating was pretty similar but the reason behind it and some things that happened like during that scene or a little different basically in the movie you see he basically speared a peacekeeper for attacking an older lady in the hob but in the book he was just bringing a turkey to the Head peacekeeper who's a good customer of his for his turkeys because he's a big fan of turkey and he gets to the house holding the turkey and sees that the guy's been replaced and the new guy immediately is like oh caught red-handed so they dragged him to the center square and. start so he starts getting the whip across his back katniss hears the commotion starts going down there to see what's going on sees her bestie getting beat he's unconscious at this point other unconscious people around that the peacekeeper has knocked out for saying something about it so she jumps in between the peacekeeper and Gale he doesn't punch her like in the movie what he does is accidentally catches her in the face with the whip but he still threatens her with the gun and all that s*** and the other Victor's come to her and things like that I'm only saying that here because I see that you reacted to this like a month ago so I'm pretty sure you saw at least catching fire by now
