Step by step for investing for lost wax casting. In this video, I show preparation for using investment, how to proper mix water and powder investment, and using a vacuum to release bubbles.
I’ve seen multiple websites mention hydrocal. I think you’d be better served with plaster and silica if you can’t get investment. Investment is amazing and porous enough with a strong refractory. I’d suggest it if you can get it. Thanks for watching:)
Hello Don I have been casting most of my adult life. Just my 2 cents on the subject using anything other than JEWELRY CASTING INVESTMENT will be a waste of time and money... I have tried everything over my years of casting jewelry and lost wax. I have tons of great videos on my channel on the subject.. I use only homemade equipment and do silversmithing and jewelry casting for a living.... over 40 years doing it now.
Yes. It depends on the wax, but a lot of it melts at around 200 F. You can also put a bin of water underneath and reclaim your wax. I’m sure there are videos out there. Be careful of the fumes and avoid wax fire- they are especially dangerous. You need much higher temperatures for the full burnout process for casting. This is my favorite reference. youngjintool.cafe24.com/web/pdf/DFU+SC20+KC2000.pdf
@@laurenseldenmakingthings7045 can you recommend also a low cost burning torch... Coz i was thinking of attaching gas cylinder with burn out torch since i have no oxygen can it melt metals without oxygen
the vacuum thing is just get rid of air bubbles on your wax molds. hand coating your waxes with a little slurry then filling up the flask with the rest works pretty good. I've never seen anybody mix investment with bare hands. It seems to have resulted in lumps in the slurry when she poured it into the flask, that's not good, mechanical mixing is better, with at least a cake mixer would work better.
Where did you get that sheet for how much investment to use? Is it possible to get a copy of that?
Informative video, finaly. Do you know any invstment products that are sold in small quantities?
How do you dispose of the waste investment after casting?
Hi! I just subscribed to your great channel. Could you please say a little about the investment itself? Would hydrocal work?

Where can I get that sheep?
Can you show a picture of the vacuum gauge as it bubbles up?
I totally forgot that part. Sorry. It will depend on your vacuum. This is an industrial one, so the pressure will vary depending on the machine.
Ok, thanks you.
Can someone use homemade furnace to melt the wax in the flask ..and how long should it it take thanks

1:55 ...What solution did you use? Thank you
It’s just denatured alcohol. You can use debubblizer that you buy at casting supply store.
