Becket Cook was born and raised in Dallas, Texas. He attended Jesuit College Preparatory
School of Dallas. After graduating from Austin College in Texas, Becket moved to Los Angeles to pursue his dream of writing and acting, finding success in both. He eventually went on to become a production designer working with the top photographers and directors in the world on fashion shoots for magazines such as Vogue and Harper’s Bazaar, and for ad campaigns such as Gap, L'Oréal Paris, and Nike.
Finding a new sense of freedom in L.A., Becket also fully engaged in his new life as a gay man. He had a series of many relationships with men throughout the next fifteen years.
In September of 2009, Becket met a stranger at a coffee shop in Silver Lake who invited him to his church in Hollywood called Reality L.A. Becket reluctantly agreed to attend the service. After hearing the sermon that Sunday, Becket was utterly transformed by the gospel and gave his life to Christ. He also knew on that day when God revealed Himself to him that homosexuality was a sin and that he could no longer live that life. Becket was more than happy to count everything as loss because of the surpassing worth of knowing Christ Jesus his Lord.
Becket spends much of his time in ministry speaking at churches, universities, and conferences helping believers (and non-believers) understand this issue biblically, theologically, culturally, and personally. Balancing grace and truth when teaching on this subject is of primary importance. His goal is to challenge the current cultural narrative about sexuality in general and homosexuality in particular by demonstrating through his personal testimony and biblical truths that, yes, homosexuality is still a sin, and that following Christ is infinitely more satisfying and joyous.
He has lived all over the world in major cities such as Rome, Vienna, and Tokyo.
Becket graduated from Talbot School of Theology at Biola University in 2017 with a Master of Arts in Theology.

Yes, folks, let's hear it for 'random straight prayers'. I am an ex-male prostitute, former drug addict, whose also a relation of The Westboro Baptist Church of Topeka, Ks. (I'm a Phelps, among other things). I grew up in the same town as Linda Blair of 'The Exorcist' (Westport, Ct.); and my brother, my sister, and my mother, once attended a birthday party at Keith Richards' house (you know, the guy who co-wrote 'Sympathy For The Devil'). And I once had a great uncle who met Hitler. And that's only some of the obstacles I've had to overcome to finding Jesus. Somebody out there was praying for me. Whoever you are or were, I thank you in the name of The Lord. Amen.

I've been given many signs and wonders, not because I'm special (by the standards of the world, I'm a loser), but because The Lord wishes to reach everyone in the depths of their sin; even those of us (such as I) who were very much amongst 'a peverse and adulterous generation'. Matthew 12:49-50.

I really liked the last few interviews. They are great examples of everyday Christians sharing the gospel or witnessing to the unbeliever. It's not as intimidating as we sometimes think

I’m like YEESSSS!!! I have front row seats watching God at work with my brother and sisters. It is crazy amazing watching was He does in each of them. What’s really crazy is that God will sometimes give you the leader of the group some insight as to what’s He is going to do in that person....that in itself has always been so mind blowing to me!!!!!!
I loved this interview. Highlights:
-Holy, Holy, Holy… (cow)
-The ‘sunglasses at night’ scene. I think we should come up with a new brand of designer sunglasses: Verklempt brand sunglasses… for those times you need to pretend you’re invisible.
-sitting on the ‘throne’ behind the pulpit and needing to pretend to be a normal human. I could absolutely never pull that off. I would dissolve into an endless stream of hammy schtick and goofy one-liners.
It’s wonderful to have two devoted men of God who can be serious about the important things, without losing the ability to enjoy a giggle.

You have such a treasure trove of blessed friendships Becket. Nathan not only is your brother in Christ. God knit you two together by His Spirit in that pivotal moment of prayer! The Holy Spirit hooked you with Pastor Tim's apt, timely words from Scripture. And with Nathan's prayer breathed out by Holy Spirit He ushered you into God's kingdom forever! I'm reminded of the old church saying, "Each one reach one." That's exactly what God did using Nathan's life and salvation experience to reach into your life and salvation experience! Exciting! It's a never-ending, ever-enlarging circle of God's love and grace using obedient people to bring lost people to Him!❤
Wow, I absolutely love these deeper dives into your story! I came across your testimony years ago-and I even remember recommending it on a Reddit thread several years back, and a young woman responded and said she was your cousin. What are the chances of that?!
One thing I would say is that while the local church can work, I am a living testimony to the fact that God can sovereignly save through other means. I had no Christian background (I didn't know Christians believed Jesus was God, didn't know Christians believed He was resurrected, and didn't know what the word "sin" meant from a Christian perspective-the only sin definition I came across was in a new age book I read in my 20s). Anyway, God Himself revealed to me that He is a personal God during a time of deep pain in my life and then later led me to understanding that Jesus is God (by placing a book in my path after several months of me praying). He also sovereignly told me the Bible was true and that homosexuality was a sin (two things that were squarely against my liberal/humanistic upbringing/indoctrination). I believe He knew those things had to be revealed to me personally from Him; otherwise I wouldn't have believed them. God bless you!

It is so clear to me the necessity of the things that your guest received when he first was saved: he right away was given a mentor to disciple him and give him one on one exhortation. Also, he immediately got plugged into a small group. I go to a church right now that doesn’t have small groups in homes. It’s so needed.

My daughter attended Reality LA back in I think 2011-2012…they were meeting at the W Hollywood high school if memory serves me right. I was sooo spiritual impressed with the worship band as they were all just silhouetted on stage and you could not make out anyone’s face, clothing, hairstyle, etc. It was the first time ever I was able to really worship (other than closing my eyes) and not get distracted by the people singing. It felt like the truest form of worship I have ever experienced. Is the worship team still in shadows as they were back then? I was visiting at the time from Maine and I truly felt like I was in heaven worshipping the Lord with no distractions. What an incredible church and so God, not man pleasing. Appreciate both your testimonies!!
I am always sooo touched by your shows, Becket, especially your personal life stories. This one brought tears to my eyes thinking about how Nathan's prayer was answered by God bigger & better than any of us could have imagined! From "I don't know what I believe but I'm here"--to now, sharing God's word & life transformation stories with so many of us! A miracle from God! btw, my maternal grandfather was John Potter, a farmer from Patterson, IA, maybe a distant cousin to Nathan. But anyway, after every show, I think, I HAVE to support this ministry, I look forward to each episode so much. Finally, today, I did, even a small amount can hopefully add-up with the others to continue to grow your ministry, Becket. I encourage anyone else pondering to support you to just do it! Overwhelmed by the unfathomable love and infinite creativity that Jesus displayed in the orchestration of events that brought you to the end of yourself in such a way that you’ve been abandoned to him from the beginning! What. A. Gift! And Nathan’s testimony is incredible. Wow. My heart is so full I can’t even process all that Jesus started to reveal tonight, which is one reason I wanted to leave a comment… as a marker of sorts, to come back to when it all comes full circle.
