Any "ibadah" can be performed without disturbances and Halal food is everywhere. Evil politicians are the ones that planted evil ideas into people saying Islam is threatened especially on young and people in rural area for their political mileage. But they are in fact scared of academic discussion, calling it "character killing". In fact now, people are getting closer and gain more knowledge to "Assunnah" by programmes organised by the government.

Putra Mosque is stunning but the Blue Mosque in Selangor is so beautiful, you need to see that. I would also see KL National Mosque, Jamek Mosque and Wilayah Mosque while you are in KL. There is a masjid very close to Petronas Towers as well called Asy-Syakirin KLCC Masjid which is literally a 10 minute walk.
