Just bought a blue 2019 Model as my first bike. Put 800 Miles on it in like 3 weeks, I love it so much. Bought it without ever having sat on a bike before in my life, havent dropped it so far and Ive honestly gotten really good at riding. This channel was part of what helped me finally pull the trigger and I couldnt be happier. Thanks, Yam. Ride safe everyone👌🏼
is it comfortable to ride on over 39 minutes
nicholas Rep Yep, does great on the highway as well. Youre in 6th gear most of the time but it has enough power to pass people and go at least 100 if you wanted. My commute to work is about 20 minutes and its almost too short! I feel weird getting off so soon😂

Fallenonee Nope still dont have my license lmao. I really do need to get my temps, im scared to get pulled over without them, although I hear there is some leniency with the dmv with all this rona shit goin on might be 60 days from purchase. I know registration deadlines r pushed back, Ive been tailed by a few cops with expired temp tags and havent gotten yopped

If i was living in USA id start with a 600cc
Im thinking of getting the r3 as well, did you have any trouble with maintenance & stuff? Im barely getting into motorcycles, so im trying to figure out what bikes have less problems. Like for example with cars my jeep had troubles almost every other month & it was expensive too, but for my Toyota i had problems maybe once a year. So is the r3 a bike you have to take care of often?

A 2017 R3 is my first bike. Absolutely loving it, along with it's cheap insurance and payment. It still has plenty of beans to be had, and inspires confidence immediately. Thanks for the awesome content as always
I purchased my 2019 R3 in March, my first bike. It’s been a great experience so far. Recommend it to anyone...
I just passed my MSF course over the weekend and I am looking at getting an R3, thanks for the info Papa Yam!
NoBodyy you need pants, gloves, a long sleeved shirt, and over the ankle boots. If you don’t have a helmet, they’ll typically supply you with one. Some people rode riding jackets in my class but it was a super hot weekend so I just wore a long sleeve shirt. When you sign up they’ll send you a list of all the info/things you need
John Sapp I thought it was closed... and bro what requirements do you need like for example ID or licenses or anything else that’s required?
Technically you don't need a M license here in the states. Several riders only have a C- class license and it's all that is needed to own a motorcycle.
Carbon you need a Motorcycle Permit. If your under 18 then you need your parents to go with you and sign a paper for the instructor. After you finish and pass the MSF class you got to go take your motorcycle permit test.
NoBodyy no
Just brought home one and I absolutely love it as my beginner bike!!
That’s how I found your channel. I was googling for a how to video on my brand new r3 back in 2015 and google recommended your video. you were the first motovlogger I watched. I didn’t even know motovlogging existed. But I got hooked man and here I am still watching 5 long years later.

Papa Yam! I finally did it after watching you for the past few months and have become a yammie noob myself, got an R3 last night. Thank you for such an in depth review! The MSF course is scheduled for next month. Now I'm off to figure out how to work the machine
Hi Papa Yam, been following you since I'm still a bikeless bro. Until I saved up from overtime, bit the bullet and bought my first bike, an R25, after watching all of your early videos. Hell, I also bought a Packtalk Bold and an Arai helmet after watching your videos as well!
2 years of riding later, and I couldn't thank you enough. It's plenty fast for city ride, soo forgiving, sips fuel, screams beautifully at high rpm. Well, I dropped it a couple of times in the beginning, snapped a lever, broke a footpeg, but surely it taught me a lot things on riding a bike. Been thinking of trading it in for a 600cc sportbike, but I'm very fond of my R25 now.
Thanks Papa Yam for taking me in into this world full of awesome bikes! Much love from Indonesia
Y’all did a great job with this. Kudos
Just got home from my first ride on the 2020 r3 to work and back!!! First night ride this morning too I’m really loving this little monster
I absolutely love my 2020 R3! I’ve completely updated this bike. Got some carbon fiber parts, TST turn signals, fender eliminator, swapped that ugly gray for blue/black, and of course rocking the Yoshimura R77. It’s the best small displacement motorcycle you can get. Can’t wait to install the TST WORX Pack and enjoy some track days! My next bike will be a 2020 BMW S1000RR and I’m keeping the R3 for commuting. 👌🏼
Coming from a bike that has a slipper clutch, how different is the shifting on this bike?
Got my yzf r3 last 2019. Thank for the reviews papa yam
Uhhhhh got one on Saturday to end my 🦑 hiatus. Haven’t been on a bike in years, but now I’ve got a 2020 Moto GP edition, all “Monstered” out, so I could make believe I’m Rossi as I commute to work. OoOoOoOoH me likes ALOT!!!!! 😎
One good thing about the r3 you can ride it aggressively, it got cheap parts, then once you get comfy with your riding skills you can slowly go up to a 600 or a 1000cc. You’ll be shock how almost same you ride a 300cc to a 1000cc cycle
The 15,16 R3 has another common fault, the gear selector, it wasn’t a clutch related issue. When shifting it wouldn’t recognise any gears resulting in total loss of power apart from that 18 all issues ironed out and is a dream
5.5 seconds to 60..not with me on it..Stock to..just clocked 82k miles..still going strong with standard exhaust on it..unbelievably machine & never let me down..Big Up Yamaha & You Jammy Noob..Big Love from the UK..!! ✌🏻
My one big takeaway from all this is that the ninja 400 is a much better replacement for the old ninja 500 than the ninja 650 could hope to be.
Just bought one today, love it!

Finally got my first bike, it's a GS500f. Thanks Yam this by far the funnest times I've had in my life.
Cool video, I've always loved the R3.
Tried out the MT03 - loved it, they are putting it together and will be mine soon :)
I picked up the mt-03 for my wife watch the tank might want to put a tank pad on it right off the bat it scratches very very easy well that is if its black dont know about the other just letting you know
When I heard they were bring the MT03 to the US, I was so excited. Sadly my legs don't fit into the tank at all. Maybe if I was closer to the 6' mark it would be nice... Guess I'll stick to eventually getting the r3
Kevin Craig i would just vinyl wrap it

@@sargera1 Hah. The Grom and Z125 are the only 125s I can think og off the top of my head, and then Yamaha has the tw200 and I think suzuki has a 200cc cruiser. Everything else small, you're either looking at chinese bikes or scooters.
Got me my first bike a couple of weeks ago and yammie noob video help out a lot to find the right one. Got me a 2019 r3 but I think I paid to much but it's all good I love it.. thanks yammie noob
I am a new rider (like today I bought my first bike) and wanted to thank you for all of your useful videos, especially in helping me make a decision on what to buy. I ended up with the Ninja 400 after pain staking back and forth for 3 weeks between that and the ninja 650, or r3, or cbr 500, or Honda Rebel 500 (I can keep going). In the end, I wanted something light and nimble, had enough power to let me test it out, but not so much that it would be unforgiven, which I found to be a good thing today. I honeslty wanted the 650, but due to the price difference, and not knowing if ide even like riding, I went with the cheaper option thst was plenty enough for a noob. I chose it over the r3 because I wanted to be more upright. In spirit, you were there with me as I struggled over this decision before making my choice and not looking back. By the way, I had the biggest smile ony face as I pulled out my courage and hit the twisties (I had no choice I'm surrounded by them) at a rocket pace of 45 on the straight away and between 20 and 30 on the twisting parts. In the end I built confidence fast on this bike as I found it very easy to menouver. I learned I sometimes forget to let go of the throttle when I shift. Glad I got the 400 and not the 650. But I do plan on upgrading in the future already... After one day... Actually like 2 hours... I will never look back... So thank you.
Hey I recently just got my m1 license in the mail and hardstuck on which bike to buy but leaning more towards the ninja 400. Im stuck between the r3 and ninja 400 and wanted to hear your opinion since you have the ninja 400. One concern I had with the ninja 400 was the height of the bike and the lightness, I'm 5'8 would I be able to flat foot or even tiptoe when just sitting on the bike? How does it take corners, I've heard that its light so I'm kind of concerned when riding and taking a corner.

Back in the 70's, Yamaha made an R5: 2 cylinder 2-stroke, 35 horsepower, about 350 pounds. Not a cruiser, buzzed like crazy, but it was quick.
Yammie, you my dude have persuaded me to take the jump onto a 2 wheeled death machine while being called a "temporary australian" for riding a motorbike. After a year or so of watching your videos I just recently bought myself a 2016 yamaha r3. Thank you for all your wise words.
is it comfortable to ride on over 39 minutes
I got my R3 a couple months ago now. Also in Australia. I ride mine to work every day which is a 30 ish minute commute and I feel fine.
As a pretty new rider with little experience with road bikes I think it is actually quiet comfortable. I have owned a few dirt bikes and i do understand dirt bikes are different. But hands down i could ride around for hours. Btw I'm 6' and not the smallest guy in the world.
PAPA YAM! I just bought a R3 today! Thanks to your blessings of informations, tho may e I shoulda bought a busa 😂
I wish Yamaha made an r4. Reason being in my country, the Philippines, enforcers are more strict towards adding mods to motorcycles below 400cc. Especially when it comes to the exhaust.
CBR500R all the way, perfect amount of power and aftermarket support, I've slapped some raised rear sets and lowered clip-ons on mine and I'm absolutely in love with it.
I am an oldish man owning an r125 awaiting work. It wont start. I am dreaming of one of those naked ones. It hurts my heart with longing to see those beautiful clips of riding. Love this.

In Japan, the R25 is also quite popular. It just has 8 HP less but doesn't need an annual inspection. Love those bikes!
I got new R3 last year. It's pretty compared to the ninja 400, and I really like it, but I think it's important to do some changes after you get it.
it actually sounds pretty nice right out of the box, but the exhaust isn't exactly pretty.

Okay so been thinking about getting in to bow riding and after looking at the website for Yamaha I found the r3 then CZcams sent me here long story short I’m sold it looks better IMO over the cbr 300 so here soon it’s r3 for me thanks man for the video
It seems there's a competition of which to get R3 vs Ninja 400 ... I'm leaning towards the 400, well because it says "Ninja" haha. And like how it sits more upright. But then started seeing people say it has issues with false neutrals between gears, and having to replace the clutch every few months. Any knowledge on this?
R3 is pretty cool interesting. 🤘👌
I've been a licensed motorcycle rider since 1989, averaging over 10k miles/year since 2003, currently riding a 2009 Concours14. I took a short test ride on a 2020 R3 last week and I want one so bad, I'm considering selling my Concours14. I still have to get my 2003 BMW R1150RT-P running reliably so I can still pack up the kitchen sink and go on long highway trips and Iron Butt rides, but the R3 will be awesome for everything else, from commuting to local twisty roads to weekend trips to the mountains. I'm 51, and a smaller lighter bike is becoming very appealing for regular use; the 688-pound Concours is a king on the highway, but it's a pig of a bike for maneuvering and parking in the city, and a beast to toss around through tight twisty roads. The Beemer and an R3 in the stable should cover all the bases except dirt roads.
I owe alot of my mechanical intellect to my rebel 500, hands down the best starter bike

I was talking to an R1 rider at work and he told me about a dealership down in Orange County that will finance just about anyone. Checked out their R3s and applied for financing and now this video pops up? Too much of a coincidence. Taking this as a sign.
Please for the move of God don't finance your bike through a dealership. Go through a credit union. You'll get better rates and save a bunch of money in the long run.
I personally have the Mt03 (naked version) and absolutely love it
I haven't even got my endorsement yet. I just only started getting into motorcycles within the last couple weeks and I'm going to look at a 2019 R3 tomorrow for only $3,100
I might be doing this backwards- My first street bike is a Gixxer 1000 (K5), now I'm looking for something a little more comfortable/ reliable. The Gixxer is awesome, on a smooth open road. It's no fun around town or in traffic, it's complicated, everything is expensive, the service intervals are every single time you look at it, and mine is like "afraid to scratch the tank" condition.
My second bike will be more of a beater, probably a SV650. Too bad $3500 Busas aren't really a thing anymore.
I get mine tomorrow after finally waiting. Time to ride.
My first bike was a 92 Suzuki Katana 600 and I could really feel it go sluggish when I had a passenger on the back. I think it had 84 or 86 HP.
