    Just ordered my teraflex 2.5 inch lift. wanted 33's vs 35's since its my daily drive ...i think this looks great and if my math is correct should be exactly the same as the stock space from top of the wheel to fender (technically .5 higher)......my main question is...when ordering the tire is this a 285/70/17 or a 275/70/17?

    • @thecarjunkie3609
      @thecarjunkie3609  Před 7 lety

      E N hey buddy. You need a lift with 35s. Minimum is 2.5 inches but you will experience some rubbing on tight corners. Anything over 3 inches is safe. 33s won't need any lifting on your jeep.

Secondly, I live in Toronto, the closest rock or mud trail is about 3 hours from Toronto and if you have noticed on other videos, I have a family and two new born's so its very difficult with twins to get away. @clos1764 Před 8 lety

      If you do it yourself, not much just have to buy a few tools that you might not already have and a buddy. But if you go to a so called 4x4 shop (4 Wheel Parts, in West Covina, Cal), between $500-800 dollars, depending on the lift. I got quoted $750 for a simple 2.5 lift install with alignment and a few misc charges. Too much.

      Kevin Haynes actually did 37s with a 3.5 inch lift and looks sick. Check out the few latest videos

    I'm just saying the lift you had them install shouldn't have taken more than 1 hour there was no reason to leave

      I guess it was their first time or they might have not had all the tools. Oh well, its done.

      Yeah I guess I just wanted you to be aware in case the charged you for hours of labor when they weren't really working there are some small things that take a long time to install but it looks like you just had a coil spacer or body lift which really don't take that long

    Pay for quality and stick with AEV. A proper lift is 3.5" minimum with 35" tires. Their parts including lift kits are designed by their engineers who used to work for Jeep so you won't run into problems that will cost money down tge road like this guy will. Their 3.5" is $3200 and includes Bilstein 5600 shocks with a steering stabilizer. A stock Rubi comes with 32". Going to 33" is a waste of money and putting 35" with only a 2" lift will have rub issues. And if you don't upgrade the other necessities like gussets, tie rods and especially the front axle on anything other than the Rubi, things will bend and snap when you least expect it. If you're gonna do it, do it right the first time. You didn't do enough homework buddy. Just the fact that you might put 35s shows that. That's why there was no difference in anything when you got in and how it drove. You were expecting the differences that only a 3.5" with 35s would have given. It's not stock anymore but now you're in the group of people (suits) that do the bare minimum, as cheap as possible, by a shop that doesn't specialize in Jeeps. AEV. Google that shit.

    Its stiff because you've got nitrogen shocks. They prevent body roll by being stiffer. A hydrogen shock would be what you want for a less stiff ride.
